Steele disses Rush

JeffC's picture

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele was being interviewed by CNN's D.L. Hughley recently when Hughley called Limbaugh "the de facto leader of the Republican Party."

Steele replied, "No, he's not. I'm the de facto leader of the Republican Party. Let’s put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it’s incendiary. Yes, it’s ugly."

I can hardly wait for Steele to apologize on his knees, begging Rush's forgiveness.

...on Larry King Live Monday night:

Larry King: ....RNC Chairman Michael Steele took some shots at Limbaugh and then apologized. What do you make of all of that?

Jindal: Well, I didn't follow the day's events. I'm glad he apologized. I think the chairman is a breath of fresh air for the party. As I said before, I think Rush is a leader for many conservatives and says things that people are concerned about. [He] articulates very well the concern people have about growing government spending without an end in sight.

And Ann Coulter continues her racist comments, this time a little nasty nugget thrown at Jindal:

"Wasn't Bobby great in 'Slumdog Millionaire'?"

I guess Ann thinks all Indian's look alike or something...nice one Ann.

Yeah, WOW, the Dem's are doing a GREAT job, spend, spend, spend. Just think, you get three more Dems's in the Senate and you can spend even easier and MORE, yes, more, more more. Won't that be great!!!

The Dem's are going to bankrupt this country. Woo Hoo!!! yeah, go Dem's.

It's amazing, you people hate Palin, you know, stupid bimbo, knows nothing about anything, you hate Limbaugh, you know, idiot, knows nothing, just rants........if these people are REALLY as bad as you all say, you should be THRILLED that we listen to them and support them.

I've decided i'm gonna cheat on my taxes, it means I might have a future in politics, i'm sure Obama has a position for me in his cabinet, if I can just be a big enough cheat.

Beefy, we LOVE Palin! Jeff loves her. Main said so right here. I've said it over and over. We want Limbaugh and Palin and Jindal to speak loudly and often; preferably not in front of turkey slaughterings, but we want them to push the Republican message forward.

We DON'T hate her. Hate is typically an emotion expressed towards communists, fascists, socialists, gays, lesbians, welfare recipients, octomoms, taxes, taxers, etc. And guess who USUALLY are the "haters?" I'm just making observations here.

I haven't posted much lately because it has become incredibly boring. How do you have variety when the argument from the right has been a steady "deficits and spending bills are bad" even though much of the deficit was inked with GOP pens? I've been done with the "socialism" crowd for a while.

Side note, I do wonder why my good conservatives did not come to Bristol Palin's aide when she was attacked by Ann Coulter. Personally, I think she should be able to keep her child even if she doesn't marry her roughneck baby daddy. But that's another argument, and since a conservative mouth piece started that she should give up her child, I doubt any of you good republicans will ever address it.

Cheers, and GO Palin/Jindal 2010!!!

Apparently Limbaugh, Coulter and others are convinced that someone who they approve of will be elected at the next elections. Congressional elections next of course, then the Presidential election in 2012.

The very best thing the democrats could do now is to let Limbaugh take all of the rope he will grab. No democrats will listen to him seriously and only about one half of the republicans. The republicans actually allowing him to speak for them and yet attempt to say that he is only an entertainer and not a republican leader is like saying FOX news is fair and balanced---it is a lie.

Now such idiots as Bill O'Reilly are saying seriously that the stock market plunging currently is due to Obama doing Bush a favor and fighting for as much saving of banks as is possible.

They speak as if 30 days or so in office is the cause of the market crash! Something about faith in Obama! Hey the market has gone from 14,000 t0 approximately 6,000 recently and certainly not this year!

Yes, the best thing for the democrats to do is say Amen when Rush speaks! He should be able to totally destroy what is left of the Grand Old Party very soon.
Much of the hatred today for our situation can be attributed to such as he and FOX. Limbaugh knows he screwed up and is trying now even harder than ever to cover up his stupid yacking ever since the Clinton days.
It took a lot of Oxycontin to get him through what he tried to do to Clinton's presidency, when he himself has no principles or morals (trying to put his maid in jail).

However what really concerns me though is those who use Limbaugh as a model for leadership.

Submitted by 1bighammer on Tue, 03/03/2009 - 11:13am.

Rush is hardly the leader of the Republican party, had he been...there would probably be a Republican in office right now. The problem with the Republicans is they don't listen. In my opinion, there isn't a whole lot of difference in the Republicans currently in Washington and the Democrats. I consider myself a Conservative, but I most closely relate to the Republicans, or what Republicans should be.

and for NitPicker:
They speak as if 30 days or so in office is the cause of the market crash! Something about faith in Obama! Hey the market has gone from 14,000 t0 approximately 6,000 recently and certainly not this year!

True it has dropped that far, however, the steepest decline has been since the Presidential Election. In the 118 days since the election the DJI dropped from 9675 to 6763 an average of 25.25 points per day. In comparison , the 118 days prior to the election the DJI dropped from 11147 to 9625 an average or 12.9 points per day. That's close to a 90% increase in the average drop per day. So who exactly is the cause?

I know, I know...OBAMA wasn't in office until January 20th so the time before that you can't count. So lets look since then...On January 20, 2009 the DJI was 7949 it closed on March 2, 2009 at 6763 thats an 1186 point drop in 41 days for an average drop per day of 28.9 points.

If the decline continues at this rate...the DJI will be 0 by October 31, 2009

True President Obama has only been in office since January 20th. What is not taken into consideration are the adjustments that have been taking place months before that time knowing the policies that the current administration, congress and the senate would enact into law.

I'm sorry but the truth is that these policies do not instill much hope to those of us making economic decisions. I fault President Obama tremendously for continuing the screaming of how bad off we are when I know countless businessmen who are sitting on their hands and waiting for some positive leadership and news to proceed with. Remember... to a large part the economy is a 'state of mind'. And for some reason Obama seems to be rooting the loudest for it's failure. Puzzled So much for instilling confidence in the markets.

False confidence (con jobs) is what got us into this mess!
It is stupid to say we aren't into trouble? You ain't seen nothing yet.

Do you have any idea how many more homes are to be foreclosed? How many more commercial establishments are to be empty?
Don't you believe that one in 7 or so will not have a job in a few months?

Obama is too smart to lie about such things.

Obama also knows that these little dabs of money inserted into those broken banks won't solve the problem. It will only give us some time to prepare for their demise.

We now own AIG. What are we going to do with it? It doesn't have anything worth a darn!
Better we know now---or better yet 2-3 years back into the previous administration.

Wishful thinking is stupid!

Try as they might, the republicans will not be able to blame this depression on Obama and the democrats!

It was set in motion with the 2000 election (steal) of the Presidency.

Putting a dumbo in as president with crooks watching over him.
Allowing the banks and other financial institutions to run wild and threatening the Federal Reserve Chairman with losing his seat if he told it clearly. The most he could say was "exuberance."

Using Afghanistan as an excuse to also invade Iraq was the icing on the terrible cake.

Our monetary situation is so bad that these tiny (trillions) contributions of federal input will have very little influence on stopping a break-down of our economy.
All of the so-called "assets" held by banks and others were worthless and still are and will continue to be.

Nothing Obama can do but putter around pretending to do something.
If he werent spending these dabs, the republicans would be demanding it instead of trying to stop it to get re-elected.
Hypocrites!

I don't believe the crap about what affects the markets on a daily basis, but your comment about Obama being in for 30 days not being the cause of the market continuing downward is just stupid.

Unfortunately the market does react to what the president does, which is why he came out saying that he is NOT here to make the markets do well.

You talk about the market going from 14,000 recently? yeah, all you Bush haters, you had 5 years of prosperity under BUSH, the markets were under 7000 under Clinton and went to record 14,000 under Bush and are now back under 7000 under Obama................Yup, Democrats are just GREAT for our country.....there is your proof.....vote republican in 2010 and they will fix everything just like they did for Clinton.

We hear some Republicans saying what they don't want. What is their plan for turning this economy around? As we look carefully at the so-called prosperity under Bush - we realize that we were standing in 'quick sand' of non-regulation, lack of ethics, poor management, and greed. Those 'attributes?' are omens of failure to any 'party'- dem or repub. Right? We need to either come up with a plan that will stop this - but 'this' hasn't had a chance to even be evaluated. You have asked that question before and it was answered then.. but here it is again...
THE PLAN:
1. Tax Cuts- across the board.. Obama says he is going to do it.. However he is going to:
a. Eliminate Charitible donation deductions
b. Carbon Tax- Gas up $1.27 per gal on avg. Products that use petroleum as a base.. up 68% in cost..
c. Cap in Trade- All products increased in cost
d. Capital Gains Tax- increased by 50%
e. Corp taxes- Corporations do not pay taxes.. the consummer pays the tax in the cost of the products..
2. Reduce or remove Capital Gains- Encourages Investments in Businesses
3. Tax Holiday- Gives the TAX PAYERS a break so they can pay down debt and spur the economy
4. Remove restrictions on Business (de-regulate) removes "hidden" taxes on products
These are but a few the "OTHER" side have tried to put forward only to be shot down by Pelosi and Reid..

Success is sometimes hard to spot.. but Failure is easy to see..

We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Why would any company stay here and create jobs when they could go to Canada and only pay 15% tax rate compared to Americas 35% tax penalty?

The best solution for this mess would be to reduce corporate taxes to match Canada and give additional tax breaks for every job that is created and stays here in the U.S. Give Americans their jobs and their money back.

Now we go to school:
On January 20, 1993, the first day of Bill Clinton's 1st term as president, the Dow Jones closed at 3,241

On January 19, 2001, the last day of Bill Clinton's 2nd term as president, the Dow Jones closed at 10,587

That is a 226% GAIN in the stock market during Clinton's 8 years.

On January 20, 2001, the first day of George W. Bush's 1st term as president, the Dow Jones closed at 10,578

On January 19, 2009, the last day of George W. Bush's 2nd term as president, the Dow Jones closed at 7,949

That is a 25% DECLINE in the stock market during Bush's 8 years.

Tax cuts brought us out for 7 years of growth.. you can repackage it anyway you want.. but tax cuts = growth Even Kennedy (the good one) Bobby said tax cuts provide jobs and growth..

The "Bubble Bursts"

The technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite index peaked at 5,048 in March 2000, reflecting the high point of the dot-com bubble.Over 1999 and early 2000, the Federal Reserve had increased interest rates six times[citation needed], and the runaway economy was beginning to lose speed. The dot-com bubble burst, numerically, on March 10, 2000, when the technology heavy NASDAQ Composite index[7] peaked at 5,048.62 (intra-day peak 5,132.52), more than double its value just a year before. The NASDAQ fell slightly after that, but this was attributed to correction by most market analysts; the actual reversal and subsequent bear market may have been triggered by the adverse findings of fact in the United States v. Microsoft case which was being heard in federal court. The findings, which declared Microsoft a monopoly, were widely expected in the weeks before their release on April 3. A CLINTON BACKED AND PUSHED LAWSUIT

One possible cause for the collapse of the NASDAQ (and all dotcoms) was massive, multi-billion dollar sell orders for major bellwether high tech stocks (Cisco, IBM, Dell, etc.) that happened by chance to be processed simultaneously on the Monday morning following the March 10 weekend. This selling resulted in the NASDAQ opening roughly four percentage points lower on Monday March 13 from 5,038 to 4,879—the greatest percentage 'pre-market' selloff for the entire year.

The massive initial batch of sell orders processed on Monday, March 13 triggered a chain reaction of selling that fed on itself as investors, funds, and institutions liquidated positions. In just six days the NASDAQ had lost nearly nine percent, falling from roughly 5,050 on March 10 to 4,580 on March 15.

Bush took Office in Jan 2000.. the Bubble broke in March 2000 after Economist had been advising it was a sham for 2 years.. Many reports from leading Economist stated that the Clinton Administation was artificially "propping" up the Dot Com Tech Stocks.. They were distined to collapse after Bush took office..

Not Logic.. FACTS.. You LIBERALS love to miss the point.. I never said this current event was caused by Clinton read the post again..
Try to follow the context of the Argument.. Then formulate a counter argument if you can but taking things out of context or claiming "You change the subject" still does not answer the main points of my argument.. So please enlighten all of us with your wisdom.. I am sure to awed..

Idiot is a word derived from the Greek ἰδιώτης, idiōtēs ("person lacking professional skill," "a private citizen," "individual"), from ἴδιος, idios ("private," "one's own").[1] In Latin the word idiota ("ordinary person, layman") preceded the Late Latin meaning "uneducated or ignorant person."[2] Its modern meaning and form dates back to Middle English around the year 1300, from the Old French idiote ("uneducated or ignorant person").

"To carry someone's water" means to occupy a subservient position, to do the bidding, the menial tasks, and frequently the dirty work, of a more powerful person, and is most often used in a political context.

It doesn't make any sense in to context you used it. Perhaps you meant my comments don't carry any weight, although why that would be related to someone's international travel schedule would still be unclear. Who knows? It's often hard to follow your train of thought.

A more apt usage would be that now Steele knows he has to carry Rush's water.

Oh Jeff, you really got me on that one. You are correct - I should have stated "hold water", as in "Jeff's arguments don't hold water".

But a more apt usage of carry water would apply to Barry, as in "Barack Obama has no clue as to how to lead a country, and is simply carrying the water for Pelosi and Reid".

It's really pathetic and sad that Barry and the rest of you libs are so insecure and afraid of an entertainer like Rush Limbaugh that you have to constantly attack him. Your statement, "Jeff's arguments don't hold water" is certainly better semantically, however if you look at what I wrote to start this blog, “I can hardly wait for Steele to apologize on his knees, begging Rush's forgiveness”, it seems that my argument did in fact hold some of the proverbial water since it only took about five more hours before Steele was indeed supplicating himself to Rush.

How do you go from the fact that I was totally and 100% correct in my prediction to your conclusion that my argument doesn't hold water?

Can you see how your train of thought is hard for me to follow there?

The sitting POTUS is so inept, so incompetent, so clueless, that he thinks that the country can spend it's way out of a recession. He is so out of touch, that he likens the sinking numbers of the DJIA as poll numbers and tries to tell America not to watch them because they don't mean anything to him. While we watch our 401K's and retirement accounts sink like the Titanic due to the meddling of Obama, Pelosi and Reid, the POTUS thinks that he can tell the people that it doesn't mean anything. He's wrong, and revolution is coming.

This President couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag, let alone lead a country. He can't even pick a cabinet that doesn't have some sort of legal problem or one that isn't a tax cheat that rips off the American citizens. I mean, c'mon', Barrack Obama has got to be the most stupid President ever elected.

Meanwhile, the libs and MSM try to make a story out of a non-story to
distract Americans from the realization that the democrat party wants to strip them of every single right while taking every dollar they make right from their pocket. It's as if they are fiddling while watching Rome burn to the ground.

Hey, isn't it about time your father travelled to Iran to bash America again, or does he only do that when there is a Republican in the oval office?

RUSH DIDN'T DO HIS DRUGS IN THE OVAL OFIICE THAT BELONGS TO THE WHOLE NATION. I AM SURE CLINTON WAS NOT THE FIRST OR THE LAST PRESIDENT TO DO THIS. BUT HE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS SO, ARROGANT AND IN YOUR FACE ABOUT IT. WHEN ASK WHY HE DID THIS HE REPLIED "because I could." WHAT A JERK.

I have never heard or read the statement "Because I could" that you quote as Clinton having answered to why he did what he did in the Oval Office. May I ask where you got that from? Just curious.

This has to be considered a gift of great entertainment value. I thought having Sarah Palin as a leader was desperate, but at least she has been elected to something. Rush Limbaugh has not been and will not be elected to anything. Anthropologically wise, the antics of the Republican Party are becoming curiouser and curiouser.

It's not easy being the carbonunit
