Support Grand Coffee in Tyrone

I'd just like to give a little press to Grand Coffee in Tyrone.

The SCHS Chorus is going to perform at Carnegie Hall in April and Pinky, the owner of Grand Coffee in Tyrone, offered up her establishment for us to use for one of our fundraisers.

Last Saturday 2/14, we hosted a Guitar Hero Tournament that lasted close to 4.5 hours. Her and her staff bent over backwards to help and support us throughout the day.

If you have never been to Grand Coffee, please stop by. The atmosphere is cool, they have big comfy chairs, a sofa, and Free WI-Fi. They even have a small conference room in the back if you want to have a little group meeting.

Their beverages and sandwiches are AFFORDABLE and DELICIOUS!

Last year our church formed a teen group for juniors and seniors, called SMAT7. We wanted them to run their own group and develop leadership and adult skills for their near term challenge of entering the world of work or college, but need a place to meet. They asked for a place to meet off church ground but pizza places, fast food outlets and other venues were too noisy or did not want a dozen teens hanging out for two hours every other week when we met.

That's when we discovered Grand Coffee and Pinky. We were welcomed to our new "hang out" and it has turned out to be the best place we could have found with food and drinks the teens like, a casual atmosphere, and a private space to meet. Pinky let's us have the run of the place (as long as we don't drive off customers) and the young people really like her and Mary Lou, the co-owner.

We have had other meetings there with other adult groups and try to take advantage of the Friday and Saturday nights musicians who play now and then.

This is the kind of local business that offers more than just a sale. They have worked with local schools to support fundraisers and they offer a place to meet neighbors and new friends and gather together for a little time out. Oh, and the teens like it for the free Wi-Fi.

We encourage everyone in the area to drop in for a drink to show our thanks for supporting local teens.
