because a Michigan power company restricted his electricity usage because of an overdue bill. What the %^#%@$^&*. We owe that generation so much and this happens. I haven't been this mad since "$" disrespected our troops.

10 amp meter on his house. That might work in the summer with out A/C but in the winter the furnace blower will easily use that up. Heck my furnace motor is 20 amp. They killed a veteran; a man that saved lives as medic in WWII. Sorry, I got to stop and count to 10 again.

Didn't know they vetted customers who didn't pay before cutting them down or off!

Why didn't you send him the $1000 to pay his bill? Didn't know, you say? Want a list?

How about if Leroy hadn't paid his bill for several months but managed to attend NAACP meeting and contribute? Cut him off or down also?

The limiting thing they use does seem "hokey" however. Don't know about a heater not being able to operate on the limiter? What is their purpose in using the practice if the household can't use it anyway?

Many neighbors and relatives die due to lack of others being concerned---not sure the fault is all the entity called the "power Company" whatever that is---no one person I know.
Think you are on the wrong blame track here, though.

..not sure the fault is all the entity called the "power Company"..

That 10 amp meter was installed by who? And who was suppose to ensure that this Hero (Thank you Lindsey) understood how to operate it? And finally, why did that power company remove all the other limited amp meters? Was it perhaps a face saving exercise or was there a real concern that a civil action could occur. Gee, a wrongful death lawsuit would be very hard to defend in circumstances like this.

I thought Liberals where all touchy feely..

"How about if Leroy hadn't paid his bill for several months but managed to attend NAACP meeting and contribute? Cut him off or down also?"

Why did you inject race into this.. Why is it all about race with you?
This was a HERO.. he served in a War that help grant us the right to speak out like this..

Yes.. it is all of our responcibility to watch over and protect our family.. I don't know the whole story here, but since you brought race into it.. When ever a "MINORITY" has their water and/or power cut.. what is the first thing they do.. they go on the news.. and who is the bad guy.. that's right the Utilities... They start complaining and then what happens.. the water/power goes back on..
Minorities have a voice.. where was this Hero's voice?

This is un-real... Our "ELECTED" leaders are pushing the smartgrid system.. this will allow them to control the use of electricity in your home.. THIS WILL BE THE RESULT..
Save a watt.. kill a vet....the new go Green campaign..

When I first heard this story.

Today on CNBC they gave the rest of the story. He had more than enough money to pay the bill. It could have been a "senior moment" or he forgot to pay the bill. In his will he left at least a hundred thousand dollars from his estate to a hospital. He had the money to pay the bill, it was either on purpose, or he forgot how much he had in the bank.

It is a sad story all the same. I sounds like he had no one to check on him.

He probably had no idea about what they were installing and did in fact leave $600K to a local hospital so he was not poor and destitute.

America claims to be a Christian country and a compassionate country that looks out for it's own.

Our lives lead us to open our garage door drive out -- return drive in and shut the door.. We see our neighbors now and again, but do many actually know one another?

Mega mergers take place in the name of synergy and cost reductions, local knowledge of people and their lives is lost.

Did you notice in the CNN story that the local power company removed all the power limiting devices in that community. What a bunch of boneheads!!!! Those responsible should be on national television to explain themselves or better yet so we can see these idiots. I'm so mad I think I'm going to sign-off and count to ten!!!!

No I didn't see that part of the story.

It is a sad story. It sounds like he had great neighbors. They noticed that something wasn't right, but they noticed too late. But, it is nice that they noticed and cared enough to check. Up there even 4 hours is too long to go without heat.
