Peachtree City Politics

Here we go again, a mere three years have gone by and we are apt to have an incumbent mayor vying to retain office. The only difference is his opponent will have had just over a year and one-half on Council and privy to the city's business dealings(both good and bad). This election will likely have the city divided more evenly, unlike the previous mayoral race when the incumbent was soundly defeated.

Three years ago, Peactree City was indeed tired of constant rants and consternation ongoing at City Hall.
Mr Brown lost not because of his knowledge of city issues or his understanding of of how the city works, he lost because he simply could not build any consensus toward getting his priorities completed. In short, a lack of leadership, pure and simple. Mr Logsdon won, in part, by claiming that he was the financial expert who would address the budget issues of the day and maintain the city's high level of service to the citizenry. We all know where the city stands financially. Mr Logsdon has also found that leading is not as easy as he thought. In short,he may well be over his head.

I have voiced my support for Don Haddix and continue to do so. Peachtree City will never again be what it was in 1987 when I came here, but the slide toward the towns that surround us can and must be stopped. To continue this trend, will literally doom this community to mediocrity. On these blogs I've heard calls for a moritorium on commercial development, calls for Council to do something about the empty storefronts, calls not to sell city streets, calls against annexation without zoning, calls for no more traffic lights on 54W, and yes, calls to find someone with enough mental acumen at city hall to complete a golf cart bridge. The citizens of Peachtree City are hungry for local leadership and Don can fill that void.

Why else would someone risk their seat on Council to make a difference for all of us?

Get behind the movement to elect Don as our next mayor.

In fairness to Steve Brown, no one ever entered a political office with the deck more stacked against him than he did.

First of all, he was up against Peachtree City's own version of the Mafia, the crime syndicate known as DirectPAC. DirectPAC, an unholy consortium of bankers and developers, existed solely to drain city coffers, and did a masterful job of crippling city finances for years.

Secondly, Brown had a city attorney, Rick Lindsey, who was so inept that they had to call in a "special master" to untangle Lindsey's questionable legal strategem. The contracts he wrote on behalf of the city should be taught in major law schools as prime examples of how NOT to write legal contracts.

Third, Brown had to deal with the grandstanding buffoon known as Dan Tennant, the biggest joke in Georgia politics since Lester Maddox.

Finally, then-State Rep. Kathy Cox crippled Peachtree City in the Georgia statehouse by giving the loathesome PTC Councilwoman Annie McMenamin sole veto power over any proposed legislation affecting Peachtree city.

One thing you gotta say about ole Steve.... The guy's got some huge gonads regarding the way he's stood up to these clowns all these years.

"Grandstanding Buffoon" LMAO..... This guy became the biggest turncoat PTC ever experienced after betraying the citizens of your fine town.
