Isn’t that like the 1st Officer of the Titanic hawking for Carnival Cruse Lines?

I thought Chambliss wanted to win.

Palin comes across to me as a dominatrix who likes to ride around in a helicopter and shoot wolves. She knows absolutely nothing about international affairs.

McCain without Palin would have lost by an even greater margin. She is smart, bright, funny and a little bit goofy and inexperienced. So what. She's now on the national stage whether the Dems who are intimidated by strong women like it or not.

She will help Saxby, but judging from the turnout at the polls so far (very light) he won't need it.

I was just reading some misc blogs and came across this one of yours. I don't know much about you, but I agree with you 100% on this one. The same people who spoke about Sarah's lack of knowledge of foreign affairs were the ones who elected Obama who had no credentials in that area at all. Sarah is the main reason I was able to vote Republican instead of independent. I am getting real disgusted with the national Republican party. I have been disgusted with the Democrats as long as I can remember.

Palin rallied the base which McCain should have already had in the tank. Her pick was a sign of weakness and her performance scared everybody but the religious right. She only helped with the extremists.

As a Dem. let me tell you honestly that I am not intimidated by her. Bring her on. Her demonstrable ignorance helps my side.

Having said that, you are right that she is now a player on the national stage. Realistically, she needs to improve her image. If I were handling her career I'd suggest the following things for her to do in the next four years:

1.Write a serious book about policy and foreign affairs. Obviously she'll have to get the ideas from somewhere else since she's a blank slate but she needs to write the book herself and not use a ghostwriter.

2. Campaign for other candidates. Saxby is a good start. Build up IOUs.

3. Build up the mailing list. She can't accept speaking fees while she's Governor but she can speak for expenses and invite people she speaks in front of to sign on to her web site. Obama got millions to do it then later hit them up for contributions.

4. She and her supporters should lobby for a very high job at the RNC. She might be in a position to take it over as chairman in a couple of years. If not, then some position just below that.

5. Travel and meet some foreign leaders. Look at Hillary, 15 minutes sipping tea with a few foreign leaders on junkets and she's going to be Sec. State!

6. Get off the clothes thing, moose chili, turkey slaughtering and SNL for a while. It's good for human interest tidbits but there's got to be something else there with a little substance. She started out bad. If she keeps doing stuff like the turkey thing the press is never going to let her get past it.

Feel free to pass my suggestions on to her. She'll never win a national election but she'll be fun running against Huckabee and Mitt next time.

At least the first 5 out of 6 you are exactly right. Palin does need to do some work if she wants to move on (pun intended). #6 doesn't make any sense, but we will just ignore that one.

And you are right that she will never win a national election, but she will be in the national debate. I think her best role is as a campaigner - maybe for a serious Republican. Who that will be in 4 years is a complete mystery to me. Huckabee maybe. Romney, no way. Newt would be best but he say no way.

2 terms for Obama seems likely.

60% tax rate seems likely as well - except for the layabouts. I may try to become one of those and see if I like the lifestyle. How big is the gummint' handout every month if I don't work?

And don't take any more phone calls from the French President!
