Chamber of Commerce School Funding Meeting Now on Comcast

In case you missed this last week!!!

Last week the Fayette Chamber of Commerce presented a forum featuring a knowledgeable panel of key national, state, and local speakers, each with particular expertise in education funding. The session was very informative and provided our community a unique opportunity to gain a broad perspective on this complex issue before the E-SPLOST vote in November. You can view the entire forum on Comcast Channel 25 beginning this Saturday, October 11, at 10 am and 7 pm, 7 days.

I especially liked the part where Dr. DeCoutis said our schools should be full by 2030.

The state representatives looked clueless and Rep. Jan (can't remember last name) said some years the funding is going to be worse than others. Wow, what a bold statement.

The only thing they didn't address was what did the school board do to mess things up?

I have already cast my "NO" vote.

Spear

You apparantly weren't paying close attention. Dr. Decotis stated that ARC projections had the student population around 35k in 2030. Full would be a lot closer to 25k.

Mr. Austensen, Deputy Superintendent of Finance and Business said directly and in public that he felt that our school costs were in line with other districts he said that it was “incredible” the results we have achieved and services we offer with our costs “below” state average.

Folks, don't believe me and don't believe Spear, go to the tape and see for yourself.
