Republican Linguistics 101

Tue, 09/09/2008 - 11:43am
By: Main Stream

If you grow up in Hawaii you’re “exotic.”

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you’re the quintessential “American story.”
----
Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you’re “unpatriotic.”

Name your kid Track, you’re “colorful.”
----
If you’re a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fulling vetting the individual you’re “reckless.”

A Republican who doesn’t fully vet is a “maverick.”
----
If you say that for the “first time in my adult lifetime I’m really proud of my country” it makes you “unfit” to be First Lady.

If you are a registered member of a fringe political group that advocates secession that makes you “First Dude.”
----
If your pastor rails against inequality in the United States of America, you’re an “extremist.”

If your pastor welcomes a sermon by a member of "Jews for Jesus" who preaches that the killing of Jews by terrorists is a lesson to Jews that they must convert to Christianity, you’re a “fundamentalist.”
----
If you spend 18 months building a campaign around the theme of “Change,” it’s just “empty rhetoric.”

If one week before your party’s national convention you SUDDENLY make your candidacy about “Change,” that’s “red meat.”

The clock is ticking.
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

Every second of every minute of every hour of every day of the next 2 months, people around our country are learning more and more about Obama.

You'd think that would be a good thing, but the truth is that your boy king is now getting the attention he never saw when the liberal media was carrying his water for him. (Chris Matthews: ooooh, the tingling, the tingling)

The fact is, the liberals started partying way too early and now they are all hungover and unprepared for the fight. Now, people are seeing that the "chosen" "one" who is the "one" that "we have been waiting for", is an empty suit. He and his ilk (sic);>) are finally being seen for who they really are.

Oh, your little linguistics test is funny. Not truthful, but funny.

I'm sort of beginning to really, really enjoy this. So far this week, I've had some devout democrats come up to me and grab me and say, I know you won't believe this Richard, but I'm voting for McCain. Two very liberal attorneys were almost giddy about it. They called Obama for the joke that he really is.

The dam is bursting, and you and Jeff are trying to plug those holes, but be careful and don't get carried away when it finally goes. . . November 4th.

You said:

The Electoral College is where the election is being fought, there and with the GOTV. Oh, and the illegal voting that the Dems will be using across the country. And if anyone knows something about illegal voting, its Barack. Just look at his first State Senate Seat election, he trounced his competition by challenging their ballots at every turn. He caught them cheating, because he knows how to to it, without getting caught.

Let’s take a look at anticipated Electoral College votes for the 2008 election:

http://www.270towin.com/

I think many are concerned about the states where voting practices by 'Republicans' were questioned in 2000 and 2004. (Florida and Ohio) How interesting that you are now saying the Democrats cheated at the voting booth. Hmmmmmmm. Any fraudulent manipulation of the vote cheapens our concept of 'democracy'. Don't you agree?

Let’s update the map a little, Obama is going to take Minnesota, the McCain people are pulling out and redirecting media buys, virtually conceding it. McCain is eventually going to take Missouri but not until Obama makes him spend a ton of money there and waste a lot of time. Obama will almost certainly get Penn. although the McCain people have to fight to the end for it and it’s a fantastically expensive media market having to buy in New York media. Big bucks for McCain. If Obama takes PA, then McCain has to win almost everything else. Florida, Michigan and Ohio are absolute must; McCain can’t realistically lose any of them and win. Obama needs to win one and drain McCain’s money. That means a huge fight in FL. Make McCain spend $10 million there in all those media markets. Give Obama MN (done) and PA (most likely) and give McCain MO (after a huge fight) and Obama has an 80% chance of winning with 30 different combinations compared with McCain’s 17% chance of winning with 20 possible combinations in which he must win MI, OH and FL.

Not that it’s over… there are the debates.

How does McCain win the debates? Only if Obama flubs big time. They have positioned the race as a referendum on Obama. If the debates are seen as a tie, Obama wins, he’s seen as a match for McCain instead of someone not ready which is McCain’s strategy. Or Obama might blow up in a temper tantrum. How likely is that? Approximately zero. How about McCain blowing? Maybe a 30% chance. How about policy wonk Obama blowing a question? Virtually zero. McCain? Maybe 25%. How does McCain win the debates?

VP debates? Not very important except to the extraordinary degree that the unknown newcomer is carrying the top of the ticket. She’s probably got at least a 50/50 chance of seriously blowing a question. She’s peaking now and every revelation about her is a chink in the armor. No abortion in the case of rape and incest is not a vote getter and will drive people off. Teaching creationism… nope. Lied about the bridge to nowhere. Lied about her chef. Lied about selling the plane on Ebay. Anit-environmentist. She’s brought in the base and has got nowhere to go but down and every misstep reflects badly on McCain’s lack of judgment in picking someone unqualified for the office for purely political reasons.

The Republican’s won’t let her out of the cocoon? Great, then we’ll be happy to define her. If they do let her out she’s a policy disaster. Tomorrow will tell us a little with the ABC interview. After that I expect her to be mostly sequestered to cram for her debate. When she stops traveling with McCain his crowds are going to dwindle again with the mean old press pointing that out.

Advantage Obama. Enjoy.

Interesting. No way NJ and WA don't end up Obama. If NJ goes McCain its going to be a really, really short night. I'd be amazed it NC doesn't end up McCain. And they're still showing GA "leaning" McCain? Give me a break. If Ga goes Obama then again a really, really short night. McCain has GA. Obama needs to spend his GA money in FL.

I'm not sure the out and out attacks on the VP nominee are the way to go myself. Time will tell.

The debates will tell a lot.

But I can't for the life of me support a Candidate who wants to raise taxes. I just don't see that as the way to go.

Here's what Business Week magazine says about it:

"It's just flat wrong" to say people would do worse under Obama, says Burman (Len Burman, a former Treasury tax official). "Most lower- and middle-class people would pay less taxes under Obama than they would under the proposals being put forth by McCain."

I don't see them around town, I don't see their votes show much at the ballot box locally. What gives?

Maybe we all came from Clayton County...oh no. Maybe you just don't know us on the streets because we mind our own business, and wish that you would do the same.

This is for the woman on the corner of Highway 54 and Highway 85 yesterday holding up the sign asking us to "Vote for McCain, Vote for Life..." I just have a couple of questions for you...who's life? Just the rich people's lives? The soldiers in Iraq's lives? The lives of all the innocent people who were killed with guns, at no fault of their own? The children who found the guns in their "rifle toting mom's bedroom?", How about the lives of the poor people who can't afford insurance? How about them? What about just the teenage mothers? Oh, just for the rich teenage mothers who can afford to have a baby? You know the ones who can afford to give up on their dreams and not finish high school or go to college because their families can afford to take care of them? I know, just the white, heterosexual, wealthy, Christian Fundamentalists, gun-toting, hypocritical, yes-men, conservatives lives who think just like you.

You already have all of the hypocrite votes in Fayette County. Take it to Clayton County. Feed your bs to the poor, and see how many votes you get. Tell them that having a baby at 15, 16, and 17 is ok, as long as your mom is a governor. But if you aren't blessed to be them, you are trash. Wasn't it Bill O'Reiley (your self-professed spokes person) who said the fault of Britney Spear's sister getting pregnant lied with the parents...that they were "pinheads". Then when your hyped up VP nominee was faced with the same issue, it was a family matter that should be respected and left alone.

I fully expect to get slammed. My opinions are not popular in Fayette County. But at least I think for myself.

Submitted by lion on Tue, 09/09/2008 - 5:06pm.

Obama does not want your "firearms license."

He just wants reasonable gun control regulations.

I do not understand why any good citizen cannot live with that.

Submitted by eldergent on Tue, 09/09/2008 - 5:52pm.

require that I get a permit. Senator Obama wants to outlaw handguns, carry permits, semi-automatic firearms and leave only scofflaws with weapons. All us good armed citizens understand that.

Submitted by Davids mom on Thu, 09/11/2008 - 6:46pm.

I think 'persons' should get permits before they take on the responsibility of raising a child. (I know - far fetched) You need to have a permit to drive a car - which some consider 'deadly'. I'm all for 'reasonable regulations' for 'guns'. I'll check out Obama's unreasonable request.

Submitted by imho on Tue, 09/09/2008 - 6:11pm.

Yeah, I think I read that somewhere...Obama wants to leave only scofflaws with weapons, lmao.
Or better yet let's go there with the whole take the money from the rich and redistribute it to the poor. That's exactly what the last democratic president did, right. He put us into the poor house with all his give to the poor programs. Oh wait, we had a surplus with the last democratic president. Well, Bush left us financially sitting pretty...he didn't cost you a thing did he? This country is way better off than it was 10 years ago isn't it? Our deficit is what now? And we haven't even began having to pay for fixing all the damage we caused in Iraq. Yeah, that money is much better off spent there than at home. But wait, we showed them who rules this world, didn't we? What's the cost of gas today? What was it 10 years ago?
Trickle down...what are we paying for groceries? Am I the only one who has paid $6 for a gallon of milk. The system is broke...and your answer is to put another republican in office to fix it. wow. yeah, let's do that.

I'll let you in on a little secret. There are some of us that are not happy with either one of them. And yes, the current executive and legislative branches have seemed to have lost the ability to manage our country's financial affairs.

As for the cost of gasoline and goods, this day was coming and neither party took it seriously.

As for the milk thingy, you might be the only one if you are buying something exotic like Mayfield dairies special blend. Me, the most I paid was just north of $4.

Thanks to the internet I can now confirm the following information about the presidential candidates:
John McCain is either the country’s greatest military hero and a brilliant, independent political savior or a traitor whose military career was spent living a life of ease in North Viet Nam but he’s now too old and stupid to bang rocks together.
Barrack Obama is the Son of God and will provide Nirvana for all of us or the Anti-Christ and will drag us straight to Hell.
Sarah Palin is the World’s Greatest Soccer Mom and ready to lead our country in battle or she’s just a garden variety succubus.
Joe Biden is an elder statesman best known for his original thinking or an over the hill plagiarist who best demonstrates the need for Senate term limits.
None of the four are Native born Citizens:
McCain is Hispanic born, naturalized by marrying beer heiress.
Obama is Arab-Hawaiian, granted citizenship for creating Chicago
Palin was American born but lost citizenship by moving to Theocracy of Alaska
Biden was American born but no longer exists due to living in a mythical place called Delaware.
Remember to vote early and vote often

Fred Garvin's picture

The "vote for life" part of the sign was referring to the McCain/Palin tickets pro-life, anti-abortion stance.

More importantly, the "vote for life" statement goes against Barack Obama's 2002 vote against the "Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. That same year a similar federal law, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, was signed by President Bush. Only 15 members of the U.S. House opposed it, and it passed the Senate unanimously on a voice vote.

Now, you might want to wipe the foam off of your mouth. Someone might think that you have rabies.

Your post was one of the funniest I've read in a while, by a conservative, and I was wondering what part of town you were in? PTC? F'vlle?

I too, am noticing more Dem's around town, a few Obama stickers, gay rainbow symbols, progressive bumper stickers. Maybe there is hope for this community.

Don't think I can see that happening in good ole PTC, unless we credit the decorators and landscapers.

I think property values increase in areas that have high family values - you know, so working parents with kids want to raise their kids in a nice area.

Liberals are all over. A few are native to Fayette County and more are arriving from the North, Midwest, and even from California.

They are hard to spot. They wear clothes from Macy's, Sears, even Old Navy and Wal-Mart. They are on our golf courses wearing shorts and collared shirts.

Liberals even eat at our restaurants. I suspect they have been at the Longhorn, Ted's, and even Wendy's.

I have even wondered about some of the people sitting near me at church. There was just something about them that made me think they might be liberals. I will keep my eye on them next Sunday.

And the sons of these liberals are dating our daughters. And their daughters are flirting with our sons. How in the world can we stop this??

My neighbor was mowing his lawn the other day and we started chatting. Then I noticed the Obama for President sticker on one of his cars.
Well I never would have suspected that he was a liberal because he did such a good job mowing his yard--he even edged it.

So it is a very scary world with liberals threatening our way of life in many sinister ways.

Well, I guess I need to listen to Rush to keep my courage up.

You mean like TOO LAZY like Halliburton and Blackwater, who are too lazy to bid competitively for billion dollar contracts from the Bush Administration? You mean TOO LAZY like the entire Military Industrial Complex who can't rework their assembly lines into making instruments of PEACE, and therefore must depend on the Republicans to continue to wage war? Too Lazy to pick up a book on the US Constitution and embrace the true meaning of Democracy. Too Lazy to figure out which end is up, that is the problem.

You may not see them "around town", but I suspect it's because the proposed county ordinance to have democrats and liberals have an orange triangle sewn to their clothing failed. Seems the Jewish populace here had an issue with that...go figure.

You may recall that as recently as 2004, the Republicans garnered 80% of the vote. That slipped to 75% in the 2006 elections, and this year the best the Republicans could muster was a paltrey 60% of the vote. Obama outpolled all the other candidates individually with 9200+ votes.

This is especially impressive considering the chronic state of upheaval that the local Dems seem to be in, plus the fact that the Democrats didn't field a single candidate in the July primaries.

A lot of the credit for the incredible shrinking Republican party here appears to be due to the scorched earth politics of Marilyn and Lane Watts, the local petty tyrants of the Republican elite. Heck, the best the Democrats could do right now is to contribute financially to those two so that they might consolidate their inept control of the Republican party even longer!

What are you? Some sort of mole at the County and District GOP gatherings? Have you been spying on the Fayette County Elections Board? How in the world are you so savy as to tyrantical reign of certain individuals? That's scary...... one would have to be there to know. Puzzled

Speaking of tyrancial leaders.... Is is true that one of our local GOP leaders actually spit on Virgil Fludd's back during a re-districting meeting back in February of this year after returning to his seat after speaking? Now I'm no proponent of redistricting. But, I can not in my wildest dreams imagine spitting on an opponent on the other side of the aisle. But then I'm certain the person that e-mails me gay porn pics and mentions my wife and kids by name in e-mails to me and Mrs. Git is a GOP supporter.
