74 South-Sidewalks?

As I watch the construction progress on 74 south each day I get more puzzled regarding the purpose for the sidewalks they are installing on both sides.

First off, if they are traditional sidewalks who in these industrial areas will be using them?

Secondly, I can very easily see people assuming they are cart paths and try to use them for that purpose. Does that mean the city will have to install ugly signs everywhere reminding citizens that golf cart access is not permitted? The sidewalks do not appear to be wide enough to accomodate golf carts either, especially in those areas where there are jersey barriers. You get two carts of teenagers heading towards each other and where does one golf cart bail out to let the other one pass? That's right, right onto the outside lane of a major state highway.

It seems taxpayers' money could have been better used for something other than sidewalks.

For what it's worth,

Mike

We will soon run out of gas and we all will have to walk more, everywhere, just as those poor people now do who do not own vehicles.
So there is now a law to build sidewalks as roads are built as it is near impossible to do it later when the roadside is then full of buildings!

Ever notice the worn paths in Clayton County by the highways? Some walk for miles every day!
