All of the "conservatives" out there, stop listening to Hannity and Rush, they are wrong. The Republicans have left you, they don't represent you anymore. How do we know that we aren't being led by a propaganda machine? Is it so hard to believe in a controlled media in this country? How would we know?

I began listening to Rush 20 years ago on WGST.
I found his mannerism and egotestical comments rather annoying.
So did several others that I spoke to about him.

Then something happened, we began to realize that much of his show is hyperboles. He exaggerates things to serve a purpose in his message.

Whether its his joyous praise of himself for a brillant point he has made, or laughingly commenting about having half his brain tied behind his back to make it fair, Rush is has made a big, big change in American Politics.

Liberals have a real problem with intellectual debate and the fair exchange of ideas. They don't have any, and thats why there is no liberal counter punch for Rush, Hannity, Boortz, etc.. I wish there were, because I love to listen to opposing points, but when you've tried to stomach Randi Rhodes, or that idiot comedian running for the U.S. Senate, you find that there isn't anything there. You're left with nothing more than "Bush Lied" or "No Blood for Oil!"

Its pathetic. The reason is simple. Intelligent and learned people listen to talk radio. That's the market of Talk Radio. And intelligent people can't handle liberal "feel good" talk and constant complaints against America.

At some point, we just want to say, Shut the Blankety blank Up, and for once in your life, say America may not be perfect, but she's the best that has ever been. But to a liberal, we are all, as Barack put it, Citzens of the World. Oooooh, doesn't that make for great entertainment. Blaming America first, and getting down on our knees for anything the UN thinks is good and right.

So, mock Rush all you want. He's been doing it for 20 years, and thanks to another 400 million dollars, he's going to be around when Hillary is trying to beat McCain in 2012.

I wish he would do some more Barney Frank Updates. "My Boy Lolly Pop!"
or his Condom update, "Up, Up and away in my Beautiful Balloon."

He is where he is at, because intelligent listeners find him worthy of their time. Pelosi wants the fairness doctrine passed so she can control him, but I dare say, Pelosi might have bitten off more than even she can chew.

Maybe the best ever on radio. Libs don't get Rush because they don't listen to the entire show or even an entire hour. They just see a few words taken out of context on some childish website or in one of those mass e-mails and they react.

Rush happens to be right - all 3 meanings - and beyond that he is entertaining. Half the time he's doing that self-promotion stuff simply to entertain and poke a stick in the eyes of the uptight libs who say he's "mean" What fools! They give him millions in free advertising.

Nancy Pelosi taking on Rush? What a laugh. Not even a fair fight. The woman who is sadly 2 heartbeats away from being President, is holding up a simple vote on domestic and offshore oil drilling because she "wants to save the planet" What an empty head and she's going to get Rush off the air with a fairness doctrine? Never happen. Even if she gets that stupid law reinstated - which by the way has to be done by the FCC, not Congress, Rush will simply adhere to the spirit of the law and have Al Franken provide the counterpoint. Sort of like Hannity and Colmes. Do you realize that show adheres to the principals of the Fairness Doctrine? Yes it does and imagine Rush literally running the show with a mindless feel-good, accomplish-nothing liberal every other segment. It would actually be even funnier that his show is now.

I didn't compare Limbaugh to Pelosi, I contrasted them. Rush is a great entertainer. Pelosi is a mindless hippie doing a great job of representing her mindless hippie constituents in Congress, while forgetting that she's supposed to represent all Democrats as Speaker - even the sane ones. We'll let you know who they are after the oil vote results come in. I think Bush will call Congress back this summer to vote on that. Can't wait to see how Nancy holds up to that kind of pressure. She might just freak out or go bonkers (pun intended) and then some other Dem would take over. Can't be Hillary, she's at the other end of the building. Maybe Barney Frank, he represents the Dem's mainstream and has such a nice speaking voice.

This is true to a certain point.

Just waiting for such a time as now!

Actually "such a time as now" happened quite a few years ago.

They did it in my original home town way back when!

Yup. In my home town too. I also worked around many capped wells in South Louisiana and Texas in the 80's. I'll bet you the farm those puppies ain't sittin' capped anymore. In those areas and throughout Oklahoma there is a drilling frenzy taking place for Natural Gas as a result of us idiotically blocking nuclear power expansion and choking off clean coal burning power plant production. Proof??? Look at your power and gas bill increases over the last 10 years.

I'll bet you old man T. Bone Pickens owns a ton of capped holes!!!!!

You are wrong. T. Boone Pickens owns a ton of producing NG holes. And I can assure the chokes aren't cut back at the Christmas trees either. Drillers, speculators, oil companies, and producers are without a doubt busting a nut trying to increase output at the BTU prices we're seeing now.

The reason wells were capped in the late 70's and early 80's was because of a glut of NG. The oil bust of the mid 80's took care of that. A time when multi-million dollar drilling rigs were being cut up for scrap iron and their equipment sold for pennies on the dollar to pay down a few notes. Again... NOPE! No capped wells buddy.

River's picture
Submitted by River on Mon, 08/04/2008 - 4:28pm.

I just got back from OKC, and I can confirm that a large number of wells that were previously capped are back in service. Not only natural gas, but oil as well. As a matter of fact, there's one a couple of houses up from my daughter's house that was out of commission, and about 2 weeks ago, a Mexican crew showed up with a portable derrick of some sort (on the back of a large flatbed truck) and they worked on it a couple of days. Now the derrick is gone, but the rotary-pump part is going round and round. I'm not an oilman, so my apologies for the vague description.

Anyway, howdy to you, Hack, Muddle, and all the others. I'm going to miss the friendly banter. If they have a similar website in OKC, I haven't found it yet. However, I got the teaching job I was looking for, and I'm out of here for good by Saturday.

Cheers!!

Submitted by Bonkers on Tue, 08/05/2008 - 3:33am.

I think you confirmed what I said, not Git.

There are old capped NG wells all over the country that have been opened recently or will be as they need them.
$4 per gallon gas will also open up coal again (clean), shale, coal sand, even ground up and watered down Appalachia coal shipped by pipeline!

We are controlled by oil interests, and always have been since its inception!!!!
The old 7 sisters started most of our wars for economic purposes!
The rich and powerful dribble down, you know? Just dribble a little at a time!

River's picture
Submitted by River on Tue, 08/05/2008 - 6:46am.

Some of what you say makes sense, and makes you sound "normal". If you're not careful, you'll get the "beeper" police after you.

I don't think that restarting the capped wells is a matter of conspiracy so much as a matter of economics. The wells that were capped were not economical to run, until now. Same goes for the various forms of coal. As long as we had cheap oil, it made no sense to pursue the other sources.

I just hope that the recent drop in oil prices does not lull everybody back to sleep, in regards to the need for alternative energy sources. We need to develop wind and solar, as well as nuclear power. We should put emphasis on natural gas and coal instead of imported oil. We need to do it NOW, not wait until oil hits $200/barrel. But I'm afraid that people have very short memory when it comes to planning ahead for tough times.

Yeah, I'm aware I can do that, and I will, once I have my own place in OKC. I've been living out of a suitcase since June.

By the way, I'm assuming you're looking for another job, so you probably have some similar experiences, but what a pain!! Nobody would even interview me until I got my Oklahoma teaching certificate, which took over a month, and then there were 5-10 applicants for every job opening, so the schools could be very picky. The applications were ridiculously detailed and intrusive, asking for things like my high school grades, and "what's your biggest weakness as a teacher". I'm sure it's similar in other professions, but I was out of practice in the job market, so it surprised me.

One thing that makes all the difference is networking. The principal who hired me already knew my daughter and thought highly of her as a teacher, and that probably made the difference between me and the other applicants. Lucky for me, and a lesson for others--it's not just WHAT you know, it's also WHO you know. Maybe that's not fair, but it's reality.

I mean derned Gringos and decendants of the Buffalo Soldiers. All that work over in that area and you can't find anyone to work the oil patch and weld. Thank goodness for the Mexicans I suppose. But another story.

Hey! Congrats on the teaching job! Did you land the one you were after in Choctaw? And BTW.... how's that 100 degree plus weather. It's been duly noted that since you moved there you've chased the rains our way. Good job man!

Be out your way in September again.

It wasn't Choctaw, it was actually the best high school in the OKC area, but I'll leave the name off for privacy reasons. (what's that beeping noise I hear?) Suffice to say I was absolutely thrilled--it was my first choice.

As for OK weather, at the risk of using a cliche, it's not the heat, it's the humidity. We had 105 degrees one day while I was there, but it was very dry, so it felt like the mid-90s. Also, there's always a breeze. (I'm sure you already know that, but other readers probably don't.)

Those Mexicans work a lot harder than most white people, and they do the jobs that nobody else wants, so power to them!

Speaking of it raining here in GA, I got back here just in time to run into one of those severe thunderstorms. Wow!! The lightning was so bad I had to put my visor down to protect my night vision.

Well, it's good to be back, even if only for a few days.

" And intelligent people can't handle liberal "feel good" talk and constant complaints against America."

Absolutely correct. If you tell Americans they are "whiners" suffering from a "mental recession," they will absolutely reject your fraudulent message. If you compare your opponent to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton while claiming a desire to debate the issues, the "greatly intelligent" American voter will see how your actions belie your words. And if you try taking advice from a thrice divorced, drug-addicted, college drop-out blowhard, you may not be the "intelligent listener" that you thunk you was.

have an income over $75,000.
have graduated college.
read a newspaper daily.
own their residence.
are likely to use the Internet.

I guess I have come to the conclusion that liberals and conservatives may just have different levels of humor, which is okay I suppose. Rush and Sean may dominate the radio waves but late night comedy belongs to the liberals, like Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, and Bill Maher.

And I am no fan of the Fairness Doctrine - I say shoot it down! Times have changed and I don't believe we need the government telling us what we need to listen to on the radio or watch on the tube. I mean, I would hate to have to sit through a "conservative spin" on the Daily Show! Egad no!

Your comments are the result of mere ignorance of the subject--which is Rush. As for Michael J. Fox, Rush was talking about Michael's ad where he incorrectly characterizes an amendment to legalize human cloning as a stem-cell bill. He is on record saying that he never read the bill before doing the ad. He also is on record as saying he didn't take his meds when he testified before Congress. Rush is merely pointing this out with his comment, showing Fox to be less than honest about that situation. The use of the term "Magic Negro" was originally done by the L.A. Times and,of course, no one makes a comment about that. The term "halfrican American" is his way of poking fun at the idiots that think being American isn't enough...they need a hyphen to be important or special or whatever reason that they use. Like I said, if you really knew Rush by listening to him, you would understand his humor. Instead, you are constantly jumping on these comments and never understanding the story behind them. Rush thinks America is the greatest country, EVER, and I happen to agree.

3.You said the following to armybrat when no one has called her anything:

"Don't worry about the name calling they are kids. They do it all the time."

4. You threw bee ess attacks at everyone under the sun you could think of, whether they have commented here or not.

"Obama is a person, some call out colors that Obama is like they are in grade school."

What? Is this written in code?

Bonkers (Mr. De-coder), can you interpret this?

Submitted by Bonkers on Tue, 08/05/2008 - 4:03am.

Glad to help!

"Obama is a person" means that even though he is partially black, he is a person, yet, still.

"Some call out colors," means they call him partial-black, but it really isn't "call out," it usually is just said somewhere! "Call-out" means to holler for them to come out of the house to fight, or just tell them they are wrong, loudly and vehemently!

Obama is like they are in grade school," simply means that they call him like Rush Limberger does: Halfrican-American!

It purty clare tuh me, though, yes. it is. She fer republicans!

She said somewhar that when she was blocked out people said sum stuff about her, also. Like they didn't know her true colors!

I think green, like frum a UFO!

No one else has been able to unite the liberels and conservatives like this person has. Mrs. Patches does severe harm to the causes she speaks for. Is there any doubt that she also had a hand in Mr. Muddle's firing?

I guess I could quit my real estate job and change diapers for a living. Are they hiring at the daycare?

I don't work at a daycare. You could try that if things get hard in the real estate business.

I work in Preschool/Kindergarten.

Do you have your college degree in this field? You have to have outstanding references.

I love my job, I would not trade it for another job anyday.

This is the most idiotic comment you have made so far.... well, maybe in the Top Ten of retarded comments.

Let's put it this way. You don't know anything. First what color am I? Darker than Hack or lighter or the same. You act like you seem to know.

Some things we don't tell, like if we go to Starbucks?

All you do is insult all day long. You insult because you lack of enough vocabulary words to express yourself.

Patches is a smart chick. Just like I said how does Hutch know that was even me? I could have got one of my friends and their husbands to go.

Hutch, don't come close to Hannity nor my husband. I'm not the cheating kind.

Some of you guys sound like it, I feel pity for your wives.

Hannity got to you huh? I knew he would. I love to watch him. Hutch is not even close. Sorry, Hutch don't mean to insult but your don't look like Hannity.

What I can say if that was not me that day. I could have gone another day, or that day. BTW you said to who ever you met that day that another woman was there a while and you wondered if it was me. Only my friend and myself will know. I could have confused you with bringing a husband.

My husband is in the media. Not liberal quacks like you. So, my husband does not mind at all. I met Hannity once. He looks better in person. Personality great.

I've asked you more than once and I'll beg you again. Please stop and whatever you do do not insinuate that your blogs are somehow sanctioned by God. Just take some time and re-read and seriously try to comprehend what you write. Comparing you to Bonker$ makes him look like a Ronald Reagan / John F. Kennedy as to your Jesse Jackson / Archie Bunker rantings.

It's past your bedtime. Now go there.

Are you ashamed of God? It seems to be that way. You never speak of God. You won't touch that. Would you loose some friends if you did?
That was the best answer you could give me? You are so funny.

I will speak free speech. It's allowed in the country. Are you afraid one of your friends will see what you write in print about God.

You don't like to talk about God. BTW that person you use to email to caught on real quick. LOL

*********** I made the mistake the first time of answering to all the names you put up. I won't bother with the others. Patches is the name. You Git are no better than me. Don't expect an answer if you don't refer to me as Patches.

You make me laugh, I don't know Goal Keeper. Ask Goal if he knows me.
I think Goal thinks you all are saying mean things to people and whoever Goal Keeper is male/female I don't know. How do you know?

Sorry, My husband would not go so low to talk to someone that is entertainment to read. He takes it like a grain of salt.

I suppose to recapture my 'conservative credentials' I need to sound like a TV preacher while invoking the name of God and knifing my opponent in the back all at the same time. Goodness sakes..... no wonder folks think Christians are a bunch of idiots.

I'm beginning to think Patches needs an exorcism performed on her or something like that. Perhaps Lily might hold her down while BPR says a bunch of Hail Marys over her or something like that.

Actually, I see a certain blogger all over the county. She cuts me off constantly at the four ways in the pavilion. She's the outraged woman at the customer service counter at every store I go to. She almost ran me over on a golf cart, several times, even though her bitterness towards PTC and golf carts would lead you to believe she doesn't own one and doesn't frequent the trails. She waits on me at restaurants and more than once I've seen her causing scenes out of state while I was on vacation. But even when it's NOT her cutting me off, yelling at cashiers and causing other random, pointless acts of violence, she has sent a friend in her place. To throw us off, you understand, so that one can never be certain of her true identity. And, apparently, shade. So be wary, Jane. At any given moment, when you're out shopping, you are in danger of a confrontation either with the original or one of her body doubles.
Sends chills down your spine, doesn't it?

Income makes intelligence? (Crooked Bankers, Hedge Hogs, Lawyers)

Graduated College (doesn't everybody?) Maybe Lincoln, Truman, Khan, Hitler, and scores of other leaders didn't)

Read a newspaper (Inquirer, I suppose) AJC?

Own their residence (have possession but owe 20% more than it is worth)

Use the internet (now there is a measurement!)

Opinions of the general population (which half? The Conservatives?)

Rigged surveys are stupid!

I promised I'd never respond to Sage and I'm afraid I was lured into this discussion with the dweeb we all know as sage. Nonetheless, I'll end this my last conversation with you by directing your attention to the source of my comments about the intelligence level of the average Talk Radio Listener.

If you use the interent, i.e. Google, Yahoo, you will see that bit of fraudulent material came from those lying leftist bozos at the Democratic National Convention. (Gees come to think of it, you're right, why should I trust anything that comes out of the DNC?)

Which is why they want to control Talk Radio with the Fairness Doctrine, since they can't compete with it. Again, fascism is the private ownership but government control over industry, and once you control the media, you control the nation.

I see a train wreck of Biblical proportions if Obama wins, but, I dare say Barack will be but an Inkblot on the newspaper of history come 2009. Then maybe he can finally earn his paycheck in the Senate and try and accomplish something with his Marxist admirering, Terrorists advising, Racist loving life.

Limbaugh raises a lot of money inadvertently for Bush and company.
It became necessary at least once to thank him to cover the next few years collections.
I doubt you will ever see Limbaugh at the Maine Bush Compound or the Houston mansion!
Some of that Oxycon pills or maid mistreatment or doctor shopping may rub off! Too many divorces for the Bushes, also.
The Bushes don't even agree with most of what he says but some voters do!
Limbaugh is an entertainer---he says so. I suppose there are those eligible to vote who take him seriously, though.
