Reward for Identification - Golfcart hit&run near Kedron, 7/20

At approximately 5:30p.m. Sunday afternoon, a red golfcart with three? teenagers followed a red EZ-GO cart driven by a 17-year old girl with her 15-year old sister on board. They began following the girls around the area of the PTC Aquatic Center and chased them through the tunnel leading to Sagamore/Ardenlee. After exiting the tunnel, the occupants of the unidentified golf cart threw a blue dum-dum lollipop at the passenger. It bounced into the face of the driver and she hit a tree. Both girls were hurt - the passenger fell off of the cart. The other golf cart then rammed into the EZ-Go with the driver still on board. The front axle of the cart was bent, the windshield and one headlight were knocked off, and the batteries were jumbled under the seat.
After realizing they hurt the girls, they turned around and headed back through the tunnel towards Kedron.

Unfortunately, the girls did not get the registration # of the cart. They said that the driver was a boy with brown hair, wearing a white polo with blue horizontal stripes. They said he looked like he was about 14. He was possibly wearing khaki shorts. The front seat passenger was a girl with long blonde hair. They said there was a back seat passenger, possibly two, but had no identifying info.

If you can identify the driver, the cart owner, and or any of the passengers, please email me at golfcart.info@gmail.com, or call the PTC Police. They have our contact information. Judging by the damage done to the cart, the girls were lucky to walk away with bumps and bruises. This driver needs to be stopped.

Thank you to the two officers for all of their help and to the good samaritans who stopped to help the girls before their mom and I could get to them.

in regards to damage to our golf cart.

One thing rings true on all of them, NOTHING that has ever happened to it has been his fault.

Not saying your kids are making the entire story up, but I seriously doubt you have the entire story. Guys/Gals do and will flirt with one another, it's been going on for centuries. They will also get distracted while doing said flirting.

It's rare in my part of town, that my Son and myself see another kid close to his age (15) on a golf cart that he doesn't know, at least in passing.

Again, the girls are not mine. I have two boys and I rarely believe their, "he did everything; I did nothing" stories, but in this case I do believe Caitlin. If I didn't, I wouldn't be blogging, but would be dealing with her parents regarding my cart. Caitlin is almost 18, has a car, and spends her free time babysitting, at PCC Church activities, or volunteering to organize PTC's Freedom Walk to remember 9/11 victim and to collect donations for overseas soldiers. I do believe that she was not flirting with a boy she thought to be 18 years old. They had two milk cartons in the cart on a very hot day and were on their way home to Tyrone, not racing kids too young to drive putting her license and car privileges at risk. If her parents thought that she was at all to blame, I guarantee that she would be paying the price.

In any case, I've posted some pictures. There is no excuse for being rammed from behind and pushed into a tree. The battery pictures show how they were pushed towards the front of the cart. Golf Cart Pictures

I should have said that in my original post. Sounds like she ran into some boys who obviously didn't know when to stop pushing the issue. I hope you are successful in catching the guilty party/parties.

I'm glad no one was hurt. I'm curious, isn't there a battery tie-down or something to secure those batteries from sliding around? Be careful moving them back.

Anyone know what was going on Sunday afternoon on the golf cart path near Peachtree Parkway and Bridlepath (close to Ruby Tuesdays)?

Police and Fire units were there, and they all were back in the woods along the path. I believe this was around 4 or 4:30 pm.

The girls appear to have a good recollection of the driver and passenger(s) (sadly though the description matches a couple of thousand teens in the area)but no additional information on the golf cart? There must be something? Color? Did the golf cart look like the same make as your Ez-Go?, Was the windshield half, full, or none? Was it gas or electric?
Without something more, these kids may never be brought to justice.

It is a shame when something like this happens and if the kids are ever found and determined to be underage, the driver & passengers all should be prevented from getting a drivers license until they are 18. Additionally, the parents should lose their license for 1 year as they are fully aware of the rules and must take responsibility for allowing their underage child behind the wheel

Thanks for reminding me about the one detail I know I left out. Both girls were in the front and while they realized they were being followed, they didn't really think they were in danger so they just tried to drive on and ignore them, hoping they'd pass them or go another way. They remember that the cart was red, but didn't get a make and that it was electric, not gas. It has a hard cover, but not the canvas enclosure.

The driver first noticed them pull behind her around the intersection between Target and the Aquatic Center. She took the path through the Aquatic Ctr/Kedron Elementary parking lots thinking that they would take the path but they followed her. They threw the lollipop at them after trying to cut them off after going through the Ardenlee tunnel.

I am hoping the driver will be caught so that he can be prevented from getting his license for a long time. I also think he should get a job as soon as he's old enough and be forced to pay for a replacement cart for my boys.

I am really sorry about your cart, and hope these girls are okay. That said, did Caitlin have an explanation for why she didn't pull over and stop? Why did she persist if she was being tailgated? You say she wasn't racing, but obviously she didn't want those kids to get in front of her...sounds like reckless behavior on both sides.

The girls were trying to get away from the guys. It doesn't sound like the second golf cart wanted to pass by but to harass the passengers of the first cart. I don't know if I would pull over if someone was acting that way toward me. I would be leery of that. I believe the post said they were trying to avoid them by going a different way but the second golf cart continued to follow them. The fact that they threw something, even if it was only a lollipop indicates they were looking for trouble. When something is thrown at you and you have no idea what it is, it can prove unsettling and can cause you to have an accident.

Women's silly crap!

Such a discussion. Silly.

And hope that they will find the idiots that did that. If they do I hope they are charged-your girls could have been hurt badly. Maybe if the family lost the right to drive their golf carts (all of the family) maybe then they would teach their children some common sense and manners.

Thanks Mytmite. I always think of MyTFine when I see your name :-)The golf cart is/was mine; the girls are my two awesome kid/pet/housesitters. They just went to Kroger to get milk and were on their way home when this happened. I hope someone recognizes them - a parent, friend, neighbor, themsleves - and turns them in. The girls' parents and I want this menace off the road before he hurts someone else.

As a Parent it would be tough to "remain calm" when they find them. I think (hope) before long someone will talk and they will be nabbed.
