Who really cares more?

One of the Left's complaints against Conservatives is that we as a nation, when being led by the Right, do not focus enough on helping those right here in the US. They make up stats for example, that here in the US there are 17 million AMERICANS living in poverty, and another 40 million without health care, and they go on and on and on. By the way, the examples I listed just then are bogus, so if you repeat them as I stated, you are perpetuating a lie/myth.

Though we as a nation, DO give more foreign aid, whether it be through the US Govt, or as U.S. Citizens(individuals/charities), than any other nation in the history of the planet, it's the Left are always the ones that are willing to give aid, but as long as it's NOT there own money. I'm sorry, but it's the Right that always gives as well, but it's of our OWN pockets.

With the Libs complaining that we don't stay home enough with our aide, look at HR 5501, a foreign aid assistance bill that passed the Pelosis led US House.

HR 5501

I also highly recommend you read Arthur Brooks book, Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compasionate Conservatism Who Gives, Who Doesn't, and Why It Matters. Awesome book. You can find it at Amazon.com

I can't afford insurance. I am a stay at home mom, and I can't afford insurance because I choose my child over insurance. My husband is VA, so he gets his care, my son is on Peachcare, but I'm uninsured because I can't afford it.

Couldn't you get a job opposite shift of your husbands? My wife and I have done it for ten years now. Some days it sucks. But we also chose our kids too. Over daycare that is and the ability to afford insurance. There are so many ways to do it. My insurance premiums just went up 150 bucks a month.Sucks, but it is what it is. You sound by your posts that you are very bright and a dedicated mom and wife. I have also had brief months in years past where we were uninsured and I am sure it stresses you out like it did my wife and I.We paid for almost a year 600 bucks a month for insurance. It was tough writing those checks every month, but we did it. My wife has always worked nights. Sometimes you got do things you don't want to. Tough decisions when it comes to schedules, date nights, family time, me time, her time, kids stuff,ect...ect... There is this family that lives in our neighborhood. He owns a small business and she stays home with the 3 kids. He and the kids are on medicare, she is not because of her status. No problem with that except they just got a second dog, he just bought a new apple computer. They gave him an appointment to get snipped, but he turned it down because the doctor they chose for hime was going to put him under and he was too nervous. How lucky is that. I bet most men wish they could've been that fortunate. So what do you think happens after he cancels the appointment. Yep! She ends up pregnant. It is though, a bitter sweet ending. She miscarried and am truly sorry for that , but part of me is happy because they can barely afford the three kids they have. Actually they can't afford the three kids and two dogs they have. Sorry for rambling Belle, I just hope and pray you don't fall ill. Do something to correct that situation. It can be done. You may have to make some sacrifices in your life. That is usually where it gets most people. Good luck

I hear what you're saying. I decided my first post was too personal. I'll say this: I thank you for your concern.

First off, Thankyou to your husband for his service and to you as well. I was pretty much just pissing and moaning about other folks I know that take advantage of yours and my tax dollars. You are one of the examples of why we should have these programs in place. I hope and pray nothing but the best for your family and I also know that the trials that you are going through now will only make you a better wife , mom and friend. Much blessings to you and your family. PS. I read your first post, so thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot to folks like us. It is too bad that these programs are in place to help people like us, and we can't get help because others are taking advantage of the system. Thanks for actually reading my story. Many wouldn't bother.

Darryl, the United States Census Bureau counted 47 million people in the United States without health insurance.

(LINK)

Do you have facts that support your contention that these number are "lies"?

How many of the "uninsured" choose not to buy insurance? I know of a few that do just that. Especially folks under 30.

Darryl claimed that government figures showing 40+ million uninsured in America was a 'lie".

I supplied a link to US Census department data showing that, yes, contrary to Darryl's claim, there ARE 40+ million uninsured in America. I invited him to prove me wrong.

Darryl responded by changing the parameters of the question, oh now we've got to only consider citizens, yada yada yada. That's all fine and dandy, but that's NOT what he claimed in his initial post ("moving the goalposts", of course, is a time-honored tradition of Republican'ts who lack the moral courage to admit they were wrong).

I pointed out to Darryl that he had not supplied any facts to support his argument a second time and was rewarded with more than I ever wanted to know about Darryl's inability to have a successful marriage and how irresponsible his daughter is. That's also not at issue.

I don't doubt that there are a number of people who, through ignorance or by choice, choose to go without insurance. That's not at issue here. I simply pointed out that to blithely claim that govenment data is a "lie" because you don't happen to agree with it is intellectual dishonesty of the highest order.

I never changed a thing... yada yada yada. I have been and will continue to speak of "Americans", not of the total population in the US, regarding this subject. Here is my excerpt from my original post, "They make up stats for example, that here in the US there are 17 million AMERICANS living in poverty, and another 40 million without health care,". That sure reads that the goal post is stationary. Why didn't you challenge yourself to read your own link that I pointed out to you sniffles5, it contains the FACTS you are so looking for. Are you too scared to learn the truth? FOR THE SECOND TIME! I guess I have to point your own reference right back to you don't I. Well, here it is, directly from your own reference resource.

Cover the Uninsured - Overview

Cover the Uninsured - Who are Uninsured?

Cover the Uninsured - Immigration Status and Nativity

You don't know me sniffles5, and to make a claim that I "... lack moral courage", makes it obvious that you don't have any morals period.

There I was having fun with our conversation, as so much to poke fun at my past, and then YOU go out-of-bounds and take it a step in a direction you should not have. To insult me as to my ability to have a successful marriage or insult my daughter and her irresponsibility, that is for me to manage, not you. You have no understanding of either and if we were in the same room and you had made such a comment to me in the manner as you have here; you would not be standing afterward. You went to the wrong place for that.

Do you even know the definition of a lie or do I need to help you understand that as well?

A Lie:
"To purposely make an untrue statement with complete intent to deceive."

Now that you know what a lie is... and I've proven I haven't lied, you can do 1 of 2 things. You can admit you are wrong and apologize for your statements, or you can prove that I am a liar. The ball is in your court.

Have a blessed day

I knew your point. Smiling

On a side note, I just saw a few of the uninsured laying in the bushes under trees downtown when I left the Varsity. They didn't look too worried to me.

I love that bug also. I told Sniffles the other day it was so kind to take care of it. Skyspy said that the bug was cute also. I am glad that it is taken care of. Your doing a great job Sniffles. Thank you!

Sorry, but yes I do sniffles5... don't you know that the census is a "population" survey? It's not a survey of only Americans, but all that reside within the US.

Everytime the Left throw those same numbers out, they state them as "Americans without insurance" and etc... however, it's the totals based upon actual population, not only Americans, that those numbers actually reflect.

The real question is then, WHO are those 40+ millions w/o insurance. Right off the bat, 10 million are those that choose NOT to get health insurance. Why, know one really knows the totals as to why, whether it's for one reason or another, they just CHOOSE not to get it. My eldest daughter qualifies in this category. For some reason she just hasn't gotten it, though she can afford it. What is a Dad to do other than stress to her the importance of having it? UGH ! Ummmm, I sound like an AFLAC commercial.

Another 20 million w/o health insurance are Americans that qualify for Government assistance, i.e., Medicare or Medicaide and again, they CHOOSE not to take advantage of it. Now, let's keep going... let's talk about the illegal immigrants that are INCLUDED in the census, but AREN'T Americans. A large majority of them do not have health insurance, well over 95% of them. Wow, that 40+ million number is dwindling down to a alot less isn't it.

I could go on, but goodness... I have to leave you to do some of the research yourself. But at least I've got you on the right track now, so have at it. I'm looking forward to you gaining a better understanding of the TRUTH.

You're pretty good at slinging number around. You'll note in my original post that I asked you to provide facts. You have yet to do so. I'm not going to do your research for you.

If you can provide some backup for the numbers you spout, everything is well and good (note: editorials are not "facts").

I'm betting you can't. I think you made those numbers up.

Have a nice day!

I gave you facts... no lies from me. Just look at your own link that you provided and then to the "Who Are the Uninsured?"

Now in regard to being able to slinging numbers... I wish I could. My drug-abusing, alcohol drinking EX-Wife took my numbers away from me a long time ago. OH, it's a looooooooong story... and a sad one as well. But oh well, we keep moving forward don't we.
