Republicans Continue to Shaft Hard-Working Americans

"The Boston Globe recently revealed that two Defense Department contractors operating in Iraq — KBR (Kellogg, Brown and Root/until recently a subsidiary of Cheney's beloved Halliburton) and MPRI — have avoided paying hundreds of millions of dollars in federal Social Security and Medicare taxes by hiring its employees through “shell companies” based in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands

Today, the AP reveals a third contractor assisting the U.S. military’s mission in Iraq that is also dodging Social Security and Medicare taxes. Immediately after winning a DoD contract worth more than $2 billion nearly ten years ago, Combat Support Associates established CSA Ltd. in the Cayman Islands allowing it to avoid paying the taxes and evade scrutiny from the U.S. government."

Git Real… you're a business owner, right? Are you set up like these guys with a 'shell company' to avoid paying Social Security and Medicare taxes? I doubt it, because you strike me as being a hard-working, honest employer who pays his taxes, unlike, the 'big guys', with their corporate tax loopholes, that get a cool break to avoid paying taxes. The small to mid-size businesses, like yours, pick up the slack.

Still think your boys, the Republicans, really care about this country and have your best interests in mind? Think again.

Congress has noticed the unethical dealings by these companies and passed a bill to stop this practice. However, the vote was mostly split along party lines, with Republicans attempting to block the bill!

Here is the roll call - truly amazing.

THE VOTE

IRAQ CONTRACTORS DON'T PAY EMPLOYMENT TAXES

A bunch of sheep in wolf's clothing.

Vote the issues, vote the person, stop the partisan nonsense.

a question for you regarding employment taxes...

Is this practice, of setting up 'shell companies' okay with you? You pay taxes but the 'big guys' don't?? (and the Republicans vote against closing that loophole)

That the wealthiest pay their fair share of taxes, plus. IF the Govt sees fit to have a convoluted system like the IRS, then I see nothing wrong with playing within the rules.

I would assume any good citizen would take every option afforded them. It's not like the IRS is some loved organization.
