Beware of Glenn Beck and The LDS Church: Important and Shocking!!!!

AF A-10's picture

Glenn Beck, who has been a conservative commentator since the age of thirteen, became a Mormon as an adult, after defeating the disease alcoholism. As an adult, certainly Glenn Beck understood all of the facets of the LDS Church.

After viewing a BPR link where Glenn Beck questioned Barack Obama's beliefs through Barack's association with Trinity Church's association with Black Liberation Theology (BLT), I realized something: As Barack is guilty by association with the fringe of BLT, so to, is the National LDS church and Glenn Beck, through membership, guilty by association, of the sins of the LDS church; past and present.

This is The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

The church that excluded blacks from leadership positions up to the point of enlightenment through civil rights reforms of the 60s is RIGHT NOW, TODAY involved in the abuse of young girls who are forced to live in multiple-wife situations; many of these wives under the legal age of consent.

Do Glenn Beck and the LDS Church support abuse of children?

Right this very moment, brave members of U.S. Law enforcement are trying to rescue young women from an LDS compound in Eldorado, Texas. At press time, law enforcement has rescued 137 children and 46 women according to the Associated Press. This is eerily reminiscent of The Branch Davidian crisis, in which conservatives criticized the Department of Justice's decision to attempt rescue of young boys and girls living in similar peril.

To the point Americans: The group of polygamists in Eldorado, TX are members of The LDS Church. Neither Glenn Beck nor Mitt Romney have left the LDS Church. The LDS Church has not left the LDS Church. Using Glenn Beck's logic, He himself, Mitt Romney, and every other Mormon who does not denounce the LDS Church and leave it should then be judged by their fringe elements. These are the bedrock, original practices of the LDS Church. The sect in Texas just never got the "knock it off" memo.

Now, seriously, does any of this make sense? Do we condemn every one in an LDS tee shirt for the actions of this sect? Do we play guilt by association within the LDS Church that actually did espouse polygamy upon the religion's beginnings? No, we don't. And it is equally ridiculous to attempt to "color" Barack Obama with information found on BLT, a theology I'd never heard of until this interesting uproar.

Though my condemnation of the LDS Church and its members is in no way serious, it does beg the question why Bill OReilly and Glenn Beck do not play the same games of guilt by association with John McCain and his Hagee, or the LDS Church and its fringe Eldorado, Texans. Things that make you go, "hmmmmmmm"

Hack, you forgot Puzzled to state that this is not the church that Romney and Beck attend. "Shocking!!!!" Maybe it would help if you'd READ more.

Notice the "F" in the church's name? "As an adult, certainly [Kevin King] understood all of the facets" of the articles before he posted fallacious slander????

Here are quotes from the articles that you linked to:

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, headed by Jeffs after his father's death in 2002, broke away from the Mormon church after the latter disavowed polygamy more than a century ago. (Yahoo News)

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS Church) emerged in the 1930s as an offshoot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church); the split occurred largely because of the LDS Church's continued renunciation of polygamy and its decision to excommunicate practitioners of plural marriage in southern Utah and northern Arizona. There is no official connection between the FLDS Church and the LDS Church; they are distinct and separate denominations. (Wiki)

The FLDS [Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints] broke more than a century agofrom the mainline Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, over the practice of polygamy.

The Mormon church, which gave up plural marriage more than a century ago, has renounced Jeffs' group. (CNN)

That's like saying Kevin King is responsible for and approves Kevin Jones' polygamy. Shocked

......................

The massacre of the Branch Davidians at Waco is one of Bill Clinton's and Janet Reno's crowning moments, right up there with the raid on the home of Elian Gonzalez's relatives. The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution was never high on their list of priorities.

"The media, relying on the input of a host of experts Puzzled who volunteered services, created a picture of the Branch Davidians that was fanatical and at times criminal. This portrayal contradicted many of the interviews conducted within the compound as well as reports from their family members." (Wiki)

“A nine-week investigation in 1992 by the Texas Bureau of Child Protective Services, however, found no evidence of such abuse.
Discipline of children does appear to have been strict at Mt. Carmel, and Koresh sometimes paddled young children severely for infractions. But the children who were examined by Texas authorities were found to be healthy, well-adjusted, and non-traumatized. Those pictured on a videotape with Koresh made during the siege seemed fond of him and unapprehensive.”

"At first Reno explained that a paramount reason for approving the tear-gas assault on April 19 was that 'babies were being beaten.' FBI Director Sessions, however, said the next day there was 'no contemporary evidence' of child abuse. And Reno revised her statement several months later, agreeing there was no evidence of ongoing child abuse by Koresh."

22 children died in fires after the FBI's use of pyrotechnic "super tear gas.” (The FBI knew that, without electricity, the BD were using candles and fuel-oil lanterns for light and that bales of hay lined the corridors as a defensive bulwark.) "CS gas [the use of which is outlawed in warfare by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993] may have totally incapacitated the children and others so that when the fire occurred, it would have rendered them incapable of escape."

“Eric R. Larsen, a Ph.D. chemist who has studied fire suppression and inhalable anesthestics for three decades, says there's plenty of evidence to suggest that the CS gas contributed to the fire…. Methylene chloride, the dispersing agent used with the CS gas, was deadly by itself…. CS dust would ‘pose the risk of a flash fire,’ and also that methylene chloride is a ‘very potent, fast-acting inhalation general anesthesia agent -- nearly on par with Halothane, the most potent agent currently used in surgical anesthesia.’”

“Lethal Weapon: FBI's Use of Tear Gas Questioned at Davidian Trial”

“Law enforcement might argue that a gas attack is not an assault because the gas is nonlethal. To the people inside the compound, armored vehicles firing gas grenades into their home could only be perceived as an assault. It certainly would be reasonable for the occupants . . . to assume at this point that whatever follows the gas attack will be even worse and that they are now faced with the choice of being killed by enemy weapons or by their own hand and by a method of their own choosing.”

"'The ATF agents brought to the compound in cattle cars could have been cattle going to slaughter if the Branch Davidians had taken full advantage of their tactical superiority. They apparently did not maximize the kill of ATF agents. This . . . suggests that the Branch Davidians were not cold-blooded killers.'" (Dr. Alan Stone, Professor of Psychiatry and of Law at Harvard)

“He was especially critical of the decision to saturate the residence with CS gas, considering that gas masks are not made for infants and toddlers and that the chemical can cause choking, vomiting, temporary blindness, skin burns, disorientation, chemical pneumonia, and cyanosis…. ‘I find it hard to accept a deliberate plan to insert CS gas for forty-eight hours in a building with so many children. It certainly makes it difficult to believe that the health and safety of the children was our primary concern.’”

BTW, "Black Liberation Theology" is not at "the fringe" in Obama's church. It's at the very core. Big difference.

Your overwrought concerns about Mr. Hagee have already been addressed HERE.

Wow. What a revelation. It's a good thing that Glenn Beck isn't running for President of the Unites States.

"It's a good thing that Glenn Beck isn't running for President of the Unites States."

True. Glenn isn't running. But, in the Republican primary, a primary one would assume would be of interest to republicans and Conservatives*, Mitt Romney WAS running for president. Somehow, I missed your posts on the dangers of his faith. That does seem to be the predominant topic in your and BPR's minds these days. Where were you guys on Romney and the dangers of The LDS theology?

I think the whole convict them by their church angle is a bit silly, but I would expect those who champion religious normalcy to point out all deviations, not just those of political rivals.

Hack,

It would be a stretch to call Trinity a "church"

It's more of a racist, hate-filled, anti-establishment, anti-American cult. Apples and Oranges Hack, Apples and Oranges.

And you bring up Romney because he WAS running for president?
You know, that's rich. Sometimes you just make me laugh.

I think I would have used the term "religious orthodoxy" rather than "religious normalcy". Just a thought. Keep the faith

Is this your reply to me from my post?

I am not worried about Glen Beck, or Hannity or any of the other conservatives. Why didn't you say this before I brought up "Black Liberation Theology".

Can't trick me on this one, I know too much and have done my research on these guys- this is your opinion. Just like I have mine.

You post yours about this and I will post mine. That seems fair then people can make their own decisions.

I won't respond- I already gave you my opinion earlier in the post.
I won't respond to others on this subject- we are all entitled to our opinion. Like I said I don't just jump in and ignore without doing my homework on people.

Have a good day. Thanks for my response.Smiling

I almost forgot to tell you I know who will have their fun with this- I will just laugh- and not respond to them- they thrive on things of this nature against me- BTW- I still like them and you.

Just remember what I told David's Mom that's what I do.

Have a good day.
