I see you're not accepting emails either. Smiling As you know there are some lunatics around. I haven't opened my contact for that reason and also because the past few weeks I've been getting some strange phone calls.

I hope you and your family are doing OK. I've missed some of the comments this week and have been trying to catch up.

I am overwhelmed, the response from all of you is unbelievable. To Cy, Tug, muddle, Main, wulf, carbon, JeffC, Belle, Yardman, Armybrat(so was my sister and myself) sniffles, jacckyldo, NOTA( the former squid, if I'm not mistaken) Nuk and Jane1 and Mytmite (if I've missed anyone I'm so very sorry) I can't express my gratitude. I've been very emotional these last couple of days and your responses made me tear up everytime I looked, you are so kind and I have to say I wish I was half the brother you all seem to think I am. I'm afraid my sister was a better sister then i was a brother, but I guess we all do the best we can. MYTMITE, I'm just speechless over your generous act, and from somebody I've never met I might add. You've shown your true person with this act, and it is a very fine person indeed. Cy you've called me several times to ask about Cathy, Git you've never failed to ask either, and to let all know our Hack is alive and well (and in New York as of last night) and he called me to talk just like he did last April when all this started.

I've not met all of you, but I can still count you all my friends because only friends would respond as you have. I have so much to say that I can't put it all into words, so I will keep it simple, THANK YOU ALL.

I will print and show these responses to her kids to let them know of all the help she had even though she was unaware of it. Tug, I love you,( if you can love someone you've never met, and I do), you and Jane are the very best of people.

Once again THANK YOU to all, your kindness is overwhelming.

This week my sister's long awaited grandchild was born, Tuesday night at 9:30 pm, Friday morning about 4 AM my sister lost her gallant fight with cancer but not before seeing her precious granddaughter.

To all my friends who expressed their prayers and good wishes please know Cathy would not have seen this child without the prayers of my friends and hers. You lifted her up and it gave her the time she needed, and I will be forever in your debt. My sister was fiercely loyal, and inspired such loyalty in others, she leaves behind a husband, a daughter, two sons, two daughters in law, a brother and two sisters and her mother. My heart is broken and I hope when it is my time I am loved half as much as she is, for then I will know I am truly loved.

Hutch, your sister and all of your family have been uppermost in my mind since I came on the site earlier today and saw your post about her losing her hard fought battle with cancer. I felt so helpless, there is only so much you can say, especially to someone you have never met in person but have developed an admiration for from their written comments. Then as I begin watching the beginning of Stand Up For Cancer at 8pm (a telethon for all types of cancer), I thought what better way for me to honor your wonderful sister's life, so I called in to make a donation. Since I only know you as Hutch and know her name is Cathy-the donation was made in the name of Cathy, Hutch's sister. Wish I had had more information. I hope this is okay with you. Perhaps there are some other bloggers out there who would like to donate. The program is only on til 9 but I am sure they will be taking donations after the program--the number is 1-888-90-STAND.

Hutch, stand tall and proud for the type of brother you have been to your sister. Your love has shown thru on your posts. We love you.

I lost my mother and sister as well as many dear friends to cancer and it hurts. I know you are feeling almost a physical pain at this loss. Thank God that she got to see her grandchild. I bet that is what kept her going. She sounds like such a wonderful person. Someone I would have been proud to call friend. She is gone but now there is a precious little girl to take her place on this earth. Hold your memories close to your heart, they will help to see you through these hard days.

It sounds so trite to say "If there is anything I can do" but if there is know that I as well as all the other wonderful people who come to this site will be there. You and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers and I will be looking to the heavens for a new and shining star.

Having to face chemo wouldn't help anyone's recovery from surgery. It would be so hard to remain optimistic, especially since she's already had to go through chemo before. But having a grandchild will be a joy in the midst of her sorrows. I hope that she won't be too sick and will have a lot of really good days. Tell her about Dollar when it won't hurt for her to laugh. Maybe she'd like to watch a funny movie with you. It always seems funnier when you're laughing with someone else. Smiling
