It’s easy to be a Democrat

I have listened friends of mine discuss a socialized health care program, they reference Michael Moore’s movie Sicko as the reason they now support such a dramatic shift to more government regulations. I have also listened friends of mine discuss how things like Social Security, Medicare, the “mortgage crises”, and public schooling can simply be fixed by increasing taxes in order to throw more money at the ruptured faucet.

- It must be nice to be a Democrat

Virtually every problem that the individual faces, a democrat’s approach is simple yet expensive, “let the government take care of it”. This is the decisive difference between an ever socialized Democratic party and a strong free Republican party. You see the republicans believe in the idea that Thomas Jefferson once set forth in saying, “A government big enough to give you everything need, is also big enough to take everything you have a way”.

The public has been tricked into believing (mainly because of public schooling) that the federal government’s job is to take care of us simple minded individuals that would other wise be lost with out the nanny-state bureaucracy’s help. Thank God for the politician because he provides my retirement, dictates what I learn, and soon will tell me which health care plan is best.

Think back, I imagine that if you are boiling with rage about my letter you have yet to read the actual thing that dictates my beliefs, the Constitution. I ask everyone to sit down and actually read the constitution; it is an amazing piece of work.

You see, if a candidate chooses to allow abortions, steal my money with outrages taxes, repeal the second amendment through tax and regulation, force a certain health care program down my throat etc… they are simply not following the very corner stone of our country, the Constitution. We are a group of individuals that are free!! If we make a mistake, do not ask the government to bail you out, step up to the plate and accept responsibility. With every public school bell that rings, or with every Government program that is created or expanded, our freedom and ability to choose, the same trait our founding fathers and God gave us begins chipping away. This is why Americans must stand up for our foundations, whether it is a foundation of human ability, freedom, self responsibility or simply the Constitution; we must fight to gain control of our own pathway in life and stop surrendering it to the Government. Be free, free to make your mistakes, free to save money your own way, free to choose your own health care plan, free to educate your children how you want them to be educated, and stop electing socialist to our government.

If you would like a free constitution let me know (we all need to read it as Americans)

Thanks,
Shelby Barker

Hello, Shelby! I am intrigued by your comment "You see, if a candidate chooses to allow abortions (snip)… they are simply not following the very corner stone of our country, the Constitution."

Would you care to expand upon this remarkable position that pro-choice candidates are somehow violating the Constitution?

I believe your protestations would carry more weight had you supported Ron Paul. The guy you were for wanted to substitute portions of the Constitution with parts of the Bible.

I am free to educate my children as I want, free to save my money as I want and free to choose my health care as I want. Who is stopping you?

Are you willing to let everyone be free to decide when to have children? Where in the Constitution does it give you the right to interfere with that most basic of rights?

You expressed concern several times over health care. Mind if I ask what type of health care you currently have?

Promote offensive actions in other nations and require no human sacrifice (draft) or financing of that 3 trillion dollar operation (tax).

What is easier? Making stacks of money with no commensurate feeling of social responsibility (Dick Cheney) or making incredible amounts of money while trying to make your granchildren's world a better place (Warren Buffett)?

What's easier? Saying Global Warming is a myth or looking for solutions to possible climate change?

What's easier? Denying we are in a recession or looking for solutions for our nation's troubled economy?

Is it easier to pretend all is well or to acknowledge that we have work to do with our economy, foreign policy, and environment (where are the bees going)?

What's easier, leaving the presidency and committing your life to building houses for the poor, fighting genocide and poverty, or leaving the White House to give speeches and make rare PSAs?

Your state of denial is contemptuous, Shelby.

Over the last 28 years, Reagan, Bush one, and Bush two have spent 12 Trillion dollars ($12,000,000,000,000.00) over the country's income. Clinton saved 6 trillion.

I think all but Clinton are republicans!

There was no vetoing by any of them.

War spending caused a lot of it. Lies, the rest.

liked you post, but I am a bit confused. Just what part of the Constitution does "socialized" health care violate? I can't seem to find it in my copy. Thanks. Keep the faith.

First, believe me I am mad at some republicans also, our spending is out of control, so don't get me wrong.

Second, its not so much that the constitution bans national health care, but it doesn't call for it either.

The constitution defines what the government is supposed to do, and the main underlying theme is protect our freedoms. With a national health care system we will have no freedom of choice, plus it is WAY past what the powers that were granted to the government with in the constitution.

So is spying on it's citizens NOT in the Constitution!

Nothing there about social security!

Nothing there about regulating airlines, either!

No end to this, is there?

was leeches.

I don't think they were imagining automatic weapons available to the entire populace either.

I would hope that government can (forgive the term if you're one of the Republicans that hates this word) evolve over 200 some odd years.

I believe doctors still use leeches, maggots too, there's evolution for you.

I appreciate your measured response, a refreshing occurrence here. You have, however, ventured out on thin ice when you began the discussion on implicit powers of government as granted by the Constitution. The problem is that what is not implied to you may be implied to someone else or vice versa.. An example might be that some might imply that "Congress shall have the power to...provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States" could cover health care for all citizens who could not afford health care. You can see where even thinking people can disagree over something like that. Keep the faith.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
