I enjoy these video clips but how 'bout something on the McIntosh High boys lacrosse team....according to the latest computer rankings, the undefeated McIntosh boys rank number 2 in the state and number 29 in the country.

If anyone's interested in seeing the fastest growing sport in GA high schools, come on out to McIntosh High this coming Thursday afternoon at 5:00 to see number 2 ranked McIntosh take on number 1 ranked Alpharetta.

If you like a fast paced sport with lots of hitting, I promise you'll love it!

I'll be at Thursday's game and we'll discuss on next Friday's blitz.

Please have some mercy on us - winter season is expanding into a spring season that started around (even before?) Valentine's Day. It is a lot to get our heads around.

There is also girls lacrosse! Three of our high schools participate (SMHS, MHS & WHS)with both boys and girls teams. There is also rec lacrosse (www.ptclax.com) for younger boys and girls. Borntorun is correct, it is one of the fastest growning sports right now (ie...lots of scholarships) and it's awesome to watch! We went to see the Tech/Clemson girls game over winter break and really enjoyed it (parking and admission were free).

It is nothing short of amazing to see how lacrosse in Fayette county has exploded in the past 4 years. The McIntosh Boys and Girls teams are both ranked #2 in the state currently. If this keeps up, Fayette county won't be known as just a "Soccer Mecca", it'll be a "Soccer and Lacrosse Mecca".

The McIntosh girls team is so good right now, its almost scary. Many teams in the state have one or two good players that carry a team. They can be neutralized by double-teaming or concentrating on those players.

You cannot do that with the McIntosh girls team! They have no less than EIGHT players who should make all-region teams, FIVE with a legitimate shot at all-state, and TWO (Kelly Polo and Taylor Lugash) who have an outside chance of making all-American teams (and will definitely play Division I lacrosse in college). They also have a very deep bench (their starting goalie is a sophomore who had something like 14 consecutive saves vs. St. Pius last week) which ensures that their dominance will continue for the next few years!

You are absolutely right, sniffles5....the McIntosh girls lacrosse team has really turned it around the past year or so. Give credit to Coach Mike Roache for his ability to bring out the best in them.

The McIntosh boys team is equally loaded too with several of the players who should make All State (DJ Ward, Zach Ward, David Bexley, Garrett Lee, Nicco DeRosa, Brennan Ott) and a couple having an outside shot at All American (Zach Ward and David Bexley). Some of these players have already committed to play at the collegiate level and no doubt more will do the same.

Fayette County has been fortunate to have some very good youth development leagues and coaches like Pete Cramblett (West Point All American) and Mike Meutzell (college and pro player) to teach the kids good fundamentals at an early age.

It's good to see the other Fayette County schools opt to have lacrosse programs. Here's hoping they all are successful!

I'd love to see lacrosse come to FCHS!
