Rehwaldt-The First 100 Days
To the fine folks of Tyrone:
I don’t know if you folks realize it but tomorrow marks the first 100 days of your new Tyrone Town Council. Of course for the first 55 days we met in private, outside of the public eye, and in violation of the Georgia Open Meetings Act. Gracie said it was o.k., we weren’t sworn in.
Let’s take a look at what we got accomplished:
Fired the town manager
Demoted the assistant town manager
Changed the job description of the Police Chief
Fired a police officer
Fired the town lawyer
Hired a new town manager
Wasted a lot of your money on a forensic audit
Hired a new lawyer at 58% more than our old lawyer
Decided one lawyer wasn’t enough so now we have two at every meeting ; approximately 200% more expensive than our old lawyer
Set up nighttime speed traps on 74 to help pay for higher legal costs
Created the Tyrone Gateway; the heavy equipment display at the corner of 74 and Jenkins Road. It’s almost complete we’re just waiting on a road grader and a tree grinder. What a wonderful first impression for people coming to Tyrone. Going to the schools; turn left at the heavy equipment.
Became the first municipality in Georgia to ban dust and sand by charter.
Provided a job guarantee for our lawyers by charter.
Changed the official town organ….oops didn’t do that
Settled lawsuit with Dick S…..oops didn’t do that
Gracie and Gloria are working hard to eradicate Dengue Fever in Tyrone
Appointed first planning commissioner that wears a hat that says: “Jesus Saves but he don’t rezone”
Allowed an illegal and dangerous monument sign to be placed in front of the Legacy Theatre building
As you can see we are working hard to improve your quality of life. Won’t it be wonderful when we actually do something that will improve it.
Mayor Don
