SCHS he's in the 9th grade plays tuba. He's in Marching Band also- they don't call it a tuba it's a - well you know what- honestly I can't spell it- go ahead, laugh- I like humor.

That is where we are going to Cheersport. We will be there both days from 9-4:30.

Where will you be so I can look for you.

We will probably wear our SCHS Band shirts- mostly blue
they say_________ Mom and his Dad's says_________ Dad SCHS Band.

It's a sousaphone.

I think only the SCHS band has worked Cheersport in the past (Not sure if they're changing it this year). Get ready for a lot of walking in order to get to the place where you'll tabulate scores.

I am laughing so hard at myself right now, if you ever meet my Son do not tell him I did not know how to spell it- he will never let me live it down.

He played baritone- hope I spelled that correct for 4 years and sousaphone 8th and 9th grade. He did get to start band in the 4th grade- I am not sure about here- where we lived the school district started in the 4th grade and he chose baritone.

The last 3 years he went to a private Christian School played baritone 2 years there and changed the last year to tuba- but when you march it's a sousaphone. I just know he says it is heavy- since in middle school didn't march, thank God another sousaphone player helped him out how to hold it, by the end of the year they were trying to do tricks with it,, one time they almost fell upside down- so funny.

Thanks for telling me lots of walking-I will remind my husband- it will be fun.

Now my son is jamming on his 3rd guitar- then he gets my keyboard- hey he came from both parents that love music.

Mr. Gunter and Mr. Kelly are doing a great job. Did you know them?
We are looking for the best to come in the coming years.

Sousa's and the drumline have the heaviest instruments to carry, yet they complain less than the other members of the band.

I've gotten to know Gunter and Kelly (I'm going to refrain from posting my opinion on here (whether good or bad) as I've already stated it on an earlier post).

I must say, these next few years are going to make or break the band as Gunter and Kelly mold the band to their standards.

You are correct about the drum line and the Sousa's not complaining, alot of the time I stayed with the drumline when we would go on competitions and games and they would do anything I would ask and never complained honestly. I did want to learn how to play the quad drums- I don't think I could do it- I thought it was so cool,one guy a freshman did act like it was nothing to play it, could do it in his sleep.

Thank God the football team is moving up this year, not as far to drive, sometimes we would drive almost 3 hours for a games in hooterville. The football team has to be molded also.

You are right the band has to be molded- I believe in these guys- and I will give them my full support- I admire them both deeply- I guess I have got to know them on these 3 hour game trips all the time. They both really have a heart of gold.

We're not going as my oldest son and I have "retired" (senior) from the marching band scene. My other son plays the violin and the last time I checked they don't have marching violins.
