REHWALDT HOSES TYRONE TAXPAYERS

Mayor Don Rehwaldt announced the salary information of the new town manager and attorney but cleverly forgot to release the comparables for the people they replaced:

Chris Venice-Salary $98,000/2 Year Contract/ 90 Days Severance
Barry Amos-Salary $94,000/No Contract/No Severance

Interesting that Rehwaldt would give his friend a 90 day severance package and give no severance to an 11 year town employee. He also takes away a big piece of the Town Managers responsibility (the Police Department) and pays her $4,000 more for less responsibility.

Bill McNally - $150/Hour
Brad Sears - $95/Hour

At last week's meeting Grace said we were getting our new attorney for a "comparable" cost. If she considers a 57.8% increase comparable than I can't wait to see what happens to our taxes. In today's Citizen Rehwaldt says "It's a little bit more than we were paying, but we feel it's worth it for his experience".

I guess honest, open, ethical government just costs more.

Judy J and the Headhunters (sounds like a band) had the crosshairs set on Barry due to his large salary. All we heard and read from the alliance was how much money he was paid and what a waste of taxpayer money. And now Dandy Don pays someone else even more money? Congratulations Judy, you have been awarded the 2007 "I look like a jerk now" award. I'm certain Don appreciated all of your support.

If $4000 more for a good Town manager will protect property rights and all the losses created by the old government, then its a big, big bargain. I’ll be glad to pay any of your increased taxes directly related the Manager’s salary. If you’re so worried about tax increase, they will be much more as a result of the lawsuits created by the old government. Some of you are being sued personally over claims that have no government immunity and are not covered by the insurance policy. There is no immunity for tort liability and no insurance coverage. So far, the Town’s lawyers have presented no credible defense, nor have they been successful in having any of the personal claims dismissed. The lawyers don’t have a clue as to what the real evidence is because they relied on wrong information from Barry, Sears Lee & Valerie. The lawyers are so confused that seven days after Sears was fired, they mailed the Town’s response to a summary judgment motion to Sears, because they haven’t paid enough attention to the lawsuits to know that Sears no longer represents the Town. Plus 5 months after the lawsuit was filed the lawyers have never communicated with all the Council about it. None of this is hearsay; it’s first hand knowledge and public record. One of the biggest laughs is that Barry, wanting to shirk his responsibility, got Mayor Lee to answer a lawsuit; and she denied the existence of Ordinance 454 that took away everyone’s property rights. That should be in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not”.

Paragraph 14 of the complaint states as follows: On February 19 2004 Town Council passed a Text Amendment deleting all allowable property uses “in their entirety in the C-2 Zoning District adopting New Land Use definitions and giving the Zoning Administrator (Valerie) specific legislative powers to decide what uses applied to land.

Mayor Lee’s Answer: Defendants deny the allegations contained in paragraph 14.

Barry wrote Ordinance 454, so he knows that wasn’t true, but he and Sears were content to let poor old clueless Lee tell a lie, thereby misrepresenting the truth to the lawyers, Whalen & Westbury; allowing them to set up a defense based on a lie. Since Lee answered for all Town Officials, the Judge is going to want to know how many of them participated in this lie and who they are? That’s clearly fraud by the government, a no immunity tort. The old government is gone, but still liable for damages.

we paid 95.00 an hour to Sears...and Drew Whalen was picking up $135.00 an hour from us as Sewer Attorney

now ... $135.00 plus 95.00 = $230.00 an hour

McNally @ $150.00 an hour doing both looks like kinda good.

Barney was paid $95,000.00 a year to be town manager/engineer

but he outsourced the engineering projects!

Someone said, if one checks into the sewer fund, you might find he had additional salaries collected plus general fund salary.

Yes, Chris will be our planner/town manager
Had we had her last year, she could have saved the town $58,000 just for the comprehensive plan alone. We paid JJ&G over $130,000 in planning fees for various projects in this town last year.

You want more facts/Shaquita/Geek/ethical government/ingreen, etc?
go look them up, but you know them already, you just know that others don't and you are trying to smear the new group. That's ok, we know who makes an a.. out of themselves at town hall...and it is NONE OF THE NEWLEY ELECTED OR GLORIA AND GRACE!

FYI - Whalen & Westbury are still the attorney's for the town in all of the lawsuits currently pending. So we are paying McNally and Whalen - that is a lot!!

He could work for $20 and hour if he turned in 5000 hours per year!

I've got no dog in this fight (OK, a bad choice of words in light of recent events), but your calculations leave a little to be desired. Assuming everyone involved is "working" you still got 2 hours work for $70 less with the former folks. Since I know none of the players maybe the higher pay is worth it. Since my taxes aren't involved enjoy yourselves up there.

tell us about the Trickum Creek cemetery and who oked that? Tell us your opion of it when it went before the planning committe and the town council. Tell us what that is going to cost us when the desendents sue the ....out of us? But wait, representing the town, Gloria and Grace did look into it after they found out about it, even though it wasn't done 'on their watch'. Maybe that will keep us out of a lawsuit by the desendants, but maybe the desendants could sue those that let Trickum creek cemetery circumvent the rules? Way to go Gloria and Grace, you did the moral thing.

I do recall they told Barry to do a stop work order on it, or to have if fenced in....last time I looked, none of that was done. Yeah he really earned his salery...he should pay us.

Once again when anyone posts a blog with facts you don't like you start with personnel attacks. If you could back up anything you post with even a shred of evidence you might gain credibility. But you did make one true statement; if Tyrone had Bill McNally as the attorney when the last Wieland project was being considered his advise would have been different that Mr. Sears; after all a one hour Town Council meeting at $95.00 per hour is only $95.00 while 200 hours defending an unwinnable lawsuit at $150.00 per hour is certainly more profitable for the attorney. Who's side are you on the citizens or the attorney's?

to role over for the developers hasn't changed. If we were gonna pay someone 95.00 to show up once a week, why did we need them at all? Everyone wanted to fight the developer except the people we had counted on to serve us.

You are implying things about McNally that are not true and reflect on his reputation. As many times as you have hinted at getting people's IDs, if you believe that can happen, then you need to heed your own advice. McNally is a good and resourceful lawyer...you on the other hand, are a jerk, or was that a geek?

Severance pay after he shafted many of the citizens of Tyrone? Are you kidding? If anything, Mr. Amos should have to pay back some of the money he earned while working as town manager as some of his actions will cost all citizens of Tyrone! Who cares how long he worked for Tyrone, this has nothing to do with this!! Severance pay is far from mandatory!!! Even if everyone else around you gets it, it in no way entitles anyone to this extra. Mr. Amos was lucky to get 11 years as it was!! Now, I’m sure he’ll really get what is his.

the only one upset is the sore looser still trying to twist facts.

With this new town manager's experience

1. will they need to hire a planner any more? nope

2. will they have to pay thousands to outsource so many things
this woman does and Barry didn't? nope

It is sad you found an ally in some of the staff of this paper.

The new town attorney

1. Was it good to pay $95.00 an hour and get nothing? nope

2. If we had this town attorney when Wieland got the vote from Leteaurneaux, Smola, and Lee to build his latest project, would they have had the EXCUSE that they voted for it because Wieland would have sued and won? hardly think so

3. Would the town be better off today if we had gotten ridd of

Barry, Aunt Bea, Smola, or as he referred to himself, "the geake", and the town attorney years ago?

I don't think anyone would argue that.

I am not sure if the town manager functions as both. The town has to have a seperate planner. She has the experience to advise but her job is not to evaluate the plans. Her plate is full enough as the manager.

Someone ask a question or makes a statement and you attack them. You sound like an imbicile. Who cares who I am? You? OBVIOUSLY.Why or what are you worried about? You see everyone know who you are as well. That does not stop you from making an a$$ of yourself.
