Bloggers' Coffee Meeting This Week?

pentapenguin's picture

I know with the holidays coming up, everybody is busy, but would anybody want to have another Bloggers' Coffee Meeting? If so when and where? I'd like to do the "new" (i.e. old Fuddruckers) Starbucks in front of Publix in PTC on Friday around 12 noon (1200 hours, Hack Smiling ). Or we could do someplace/some time else if that's not convenient....

And please, muddle, Denise, bpr, thebeaver, Jane, Git, and anybody else I'm forgetting...please show up. We'd love to meet you guys and gals. Laughing out loud

Hey DragNet. If you can leave your hateful comments about minorities (like Michelle Malkin) at home, you're welcome to attend. Smiling Now, please!!!! If you got a facial, at least update your avatar! Laughing out loud

I don't like Michelle Malkin, she's a bigot and has forgotten where she came from, nothing saddest on a person than having lost historic memory.
I don't like penguins either, you walk funny and have small brains, so I don't think I will be joining y'all soon for coffee.

Happy Winter Solstice!

I think you should be happy, it's Christmas- you got your facial and massage-(what happened) we will have to meet at a coffee place instead of the facial place- I can't do that.

What is wrong with Penguins? The one I met is a kind happy person.
Please come and you will see.

What is wrong with Michelle Malkin- tell me?

I really don't like to see someone so unhappy- what's wrong?

Hey, listen to my Christmas gift of music- I made it for everyone.

Merry Christmas DragNet

allergic to cats....and I don't like that attitude of purring before cats attack. When I was a kid a cat scratch me badly.
Though I gotta admit you (your avatar)look attractive to me, I'd feel compelled to hug you. Now, that would make me happy! What say you?

Thanks for the hug, I feel better already, in fact I'm starting to feel happy! Wow! Are you a shrink? I gotta be seeing you every other week!
I'll do my best to come out for coffee in the next meeting, I will bring Oreos and milk, how 'bout that?

Oh, but I forgot a manly man will be there, ha- right- will you just make sure I will be okay, main stream let me have it.

Can I ask a favor, do I know main stream? Do you know what I am asking, have I had conversation other than today with he/she? Do you know he/she? Am I dealing with someone I already know, I guess that's what I am saying. If you say yes, I think I know who.

Denise Conner's picture
Submitted by Denise Conner on Wed, 12/19/2007 - 7:40pm.

"Main Stream" acts a lot like the banned blogger Basmati, d/b/a Sniffles, who is unparalleled is his vicious attacks, especially against Christians, "right-wing evangelicals." Just do a search (see SEARCH THIS SITE) on his user name, and you'll see the similarities, especially his comments on Jerry Falwell's death. He tends to become unhinged, and that's why he was banned after many, many offenses.

Main Stream's post: "bpr - knee jerkish"

The comments "idiot," "venomous spewing" [Hey, MS, look in the mirror], and "Get a life and get your butt off these blogs - you're on way too much" sound so much like Basmati and do not at all sound like the mild, love-everybody UU that he/she claims to be. MS doesn't really want to "coexist"; MS does not want evangelical Christians to be able express their views, only liberals like Carter, Clinton, etc.

BPR, have you been posting for very long? I don't remember talking to you until recently. Smiling

As far as going to the coffee klatch, I won't be there, but the men who have shown up in the past are nice guys. Like you, I'm hesitant to meet with a bunch of guys that I don't already know very well. Guess I'd never make much of a politician! Smiling If the Hutchette comes, you'd have the band in common to talk about.

Keep posting to MS and/or Sniffles, but be prepared for the explosive reactions. The hatred just comes out, no matter how much he/she tries to hide it. Shocked

To quote one of my favorite (and subtly humorous) lines from O Brother: "I'm not too sure that's Pete"

I think we've got the Bas=Sniffles identity right.

But I think that Basniffles would recognize that the law of non-contradiction is a requirement of meaningful discourse, and so would not be found suggesting that logic, like the shuttle's fuel tanks, may be dropped away once we've entered the religious stratosphere. He has always--or almost always--countered with reasoned arguments or counterexamples and, despite the occasional sort of outburst that led to banishment, has been a worthy debating opponent.

No, I'm not too sure that's Pete.

By far my favorite essayist of all time.

I'm doing a course devoted just to Chesterton's writings this spring semester. I'm really looking forward to reading and discussing his stuff again.

I was just reading in his Outline of Sanity yesterday as I sat in the car waiting on my wife at the Pavillion. He offers critiques of both Capitalism and Socialism and argues for a form of "Distributivism" (which I do not pretend yet to understand).

But I was sitting there howling with laughter over his examples.

He argues that capitalism has a built-in contradiction. The employer simultaneously wants to keep his employees' wages down and keep the prices of his goods up. But age-earners are his customers, so the two concerns work against each other.

The funny part was his reducing the whole problem to Crusoe and Friday alone on the island together. Crusoe, the capitalist, has two complaints: he cannot find an affordable work force, and the public seems not to have the resources to pay the high prices that he asks for goods. Of course, both work force and consumer are concentrated in one person, the Man Friday!

Chesterton has a marvelous sense of the absurd that he uses very effectively. Nearly every line is a keeper.

'08 marks 100 years since the publication of Orthodoxy.

but I'm not basmati, sniffles et al, or the boogie man/woman. Do you think there are just 1 or 2 liberal, free-thinking, Democrats that frequent this blog, and those few posters have a multitude of names? Sorry. There seem to be alot of lib-dem-progressives on here, by what I've been reading lately. Scary isn't it, to think there are actually liberals living in PTC!

hey bpr, you asked for it when you responded so rudely to my post. Don't stick your hand into a lions cage, unless you are prepared for a bite. And don't worry hon, I'm not going to show up at Starbucks on Friday - I have a company 'Holiday Party' to attend.

So, BPR "asked for it"? Is this your version of "do no harm"? Puzzled

Main Stream you don't know me, wish you could have made it at the coffee meeting, would like to meet you. If you mean harm I forgive you. By, the way I only think the best of people. Actually, come to the meeting, it would be nice to meet you. You will find I'm not so bad after all.Who knows you may even like me.

Gotta go for now, another day tomorrow of getting glitter in my brain, hair. Have to go back to the little ones- maybe you should get a job like I have it's very rewarding- treasures of the heart is what I call it, but you have to be willing to get glitter in your brain and hair. Ha.

I actually did have a job like yours, for several years, teaching preschool in an alternative K-5 out West. It was the hardest job I ever had, and for the lowest pay. But it was also one of the most rewarding times of my life, because I knew I was helping a child to learn ABC's, how to read, write, socialize and interact in the world. One of the highlights was when a parent of a child with Asperger syndrome (autism) told me her daughter, Robin, had named her favorite stuffed animal (a pony) after me. Hearing that made up for all the glitter and paint those kids had dumped in my hair and on my clothes.

Peace to you, bpr.

See I told you that you might like me, hey it is low pay to some, but the reward is the things I hold in my heart forever- just the kind of person I am- it's therapy for my soul.

So, with that I know you do have a kind part to you- you have to work with little ones or you don't do it.

Hey, that's touching named her favorite stuffed animal after you, she loved you. Hey that would bring me tears and laughter- therapy for your soul.

We live in such a stress world, it is the hardest job, low pay, I don't do it for the pay- of course the pay helps but I do it to try and make a difference in their life- I pray I do.

At least this Christmas after all these years I have been doing this teaching- a kid gave me adorable apron with something about teachers on it- I will wear it for the kid- I could have used it yesterday we made gingerbread houses, I had icing all over me. It was fun!

I am glad we have someone like you to defend what we think is moral, christian beliefs, etc. I know that we are few- I expect that.

I do wish you could make it to the coffee meeting, I would love to meet you. But I understand if you can't- hopefully another time.

I think I have been posting about a year and half maybe longer, I am not sure. But, I always read yours- teach me to be half as good as you and I will be happy.
