SIMPLY MY TWO CENTS WORTH

Mike King's picture

Throughout the past two weeks the pros and cons of the candidates running for my late friend's, Dan Lakly, seat have hit a fever pace. One can only surmise that if a small percentage of what's being printed is totally true, then these are either saintly or evil individuals.
Just for grins, let's take an objective look at each.
Ms Becker: Formerly a substantial cog in the Fayette County Democratic Party, however of late, she has demonstrated little or no community involvement. Could it be that she has abandoned her democratic principles for the sake of name recognition and party affiliation just to get exposure?
Mr Ramsey: An obviously bright and up and coming figure in local politics considering the heavyweights that have endorsed him. Sure he has served on Mac Collins local staff and with Mitch Seabaugh in the Georgia Legislature which does give him an edge in how things get done under the gold dome. But, could we not have run a campaign without the obvious cash outlay that, at least to me, seems as if someone or ones are trying to buy a seat in the Legislature.
Mr Brown: An astute individual who can recite city issues from memory but lacking in the ability to form a concensus to get much of anything done. Just two years ago the residents of Peachtree City resoundingly turned him away in favor of promises of leadership that admittedly have yet to materialize. Those who support him do so with such fervor and blind loyalty that they will go to great lengths to get us to forget the rancor at city hall and send him to the State House. I'm sorry, but Fayette County does not need our own Cynthia McKenny.
Mr Madden: A fish out of water in that he is the only true Democrat in the race and is quite proud of it. His line of "laying in front of the bulldozer" during the debate showed me more than his wit, it demonstrated a conviction to maintaining the quality of life we all hold dear.
For my vote, there is but one choice and that being my neighbor for more than twenty years. While not perfect he does not turn against his own party, he has asked for little or no financial backing, and most importantly, he can lead.
Vote for Kevin Madden.

A ton of bricks have fallen off my shoulders. I was so worried about my vote in the Sturbaum and King runoff, but now I know my vote for Sturbaum was the right choice.

Why did he go for Kevin Madden again? Kind of funny Mike King chides Steve Brown for speaking out when he did the very same thing week after week in the newspaper. Thanks Mr. NO.

A republican voting for a so-called democrat!
Oh, wait a minute-----that simply does not happen in Fayette County!
Could it be that it is like the lady running? They temporarily swapped parties for this election?
Or, maybe like the 100 RETIRED Generals and Admirals who are supporting McCain now.

From local to national level politics, Americans have become complacent about those we elect. We seldom hold them accountable, nor do we bring in new faces when it is obvious that those elected are there for self interests.
We continue to reelect guys like Westmorland, Ted Kennedy and the like. Where are the values that those of my generation were given? Scandal upon scandal in Washington, coverups, and outright bribery are now the norm.
My point is simple: We can do much better.

Mike (Mr. NO), I'm sure you're a nice guy and all but the only person who ever held anyone accountable in this town is the guy you compared to Cynthia Mckinney. Much to the horror of the developer crowd, the guy was dead right. And if that wasn't bad enough, their puppet in the mayor's seat makes the guy look like a genius.

Westmoreland keeps getting elected because he says and does nothing. The Ramsey kid is following in his wake.

I'll be the first to say I didn't agree with everything Brown said or did, but he wasn't corrupt, dishonest, ignorant or greedy.

John,
I do not disagree with anything you have said, My point is Mr Brown has difficulty with those that happen to take an opposite view. Mr Brown did his share of good for our city, but after four years Peachtree City was fed up with the manner in which he presided as Mayor.
Hindsight being 20/20, perhaps even he would agree that alienating each landowner/developer was not always the best for the city. They, like you and I have property rights as well. I do give him credit for exposing the Lennox years for what they were--a disgrace.
What I consider sad is that his successor has had a great opportunity to fix many wrongs, but like many others who are elected to bring "fresh air" into a stale arena, he has fallen far short.
Hopefully, Mr Haddix & Mr Sturbaum will bring the quality of life focus back to our City Council=I certainly hope so as they both have my full support.

Mike, the Lenox years are back in full bloom and full gear. Unless Haddix and Sturbaum can pull off a Hail Mary, we are toast.

I agree with John M in his talk back to Mike King. You can't have it both ways. For the love of God, the British voted out Winston Churchill after he led them to victory against the Nazis. People are fickled and always have been. The old British bulldog was later re-elected again by the people after realizing they screwed up. It took Margaret Thatcher to finally pull them out of the mud.

Anyway, Lenox did all his dealing behind closed doors, but Logsdon is in-your-face about it. I mean the guy has boldly lied, never apologized and keeps working for his masters (the same ones supporting Matt Ramsey).

I missing college football already ... slow Saturday.

There are a lot of things people don't know about Lenox.

Brown did us a favor exposing the crap that was going on, but I don't like it when he uses the term "developer" which includes a lot of people. He ought to say "Pathway" or "Group VI" or "Doug Warner" instead of including everyone under the "developer" umbrella.

Brown also did a hachet job on TDK and I think it will prove to be the big mistake of his political career.

Brown doesn't have a political career, he was elected in a fluke runoff election the only time he ever ran for anything and then attracted 6 opponents as an incumbent and was tossed out of office soundly - didn't even make the runoff as an incumbent. That's not a political career and the fact that he's running for Lakly's House seat is a joke. He'll be next to last in that one - thanks to Heidi.

And you are correct, cowboy, that "everyone is a developer" crap is really tedious.

People are actually apologizing for supporting Logsdon, except for Robert W. Morgan and Nuk.

CCB is right, Bob Lenox needed to be exposed, but Lenox's puppet mayor Logsdon is paying off all of Lenox's deceit. So yes, for guys like Robert W. Morgan and Nuk, Logsdon was the right choice.

It was Logsdon and Brown in the runoff after the initial vote between the six, and then Logsdon got 81%.
