Abandonment Of City Property

Mike King's picture

The second Old Agenda item for Thursday's City Council Meeting will be hopefully a down vote for the selling of the city owned streets that are critical for Mr Mcmurrain to develop his west side property. Both my opponent and I have spoken against this sale as has Mr Haddix.
I do not portend to know how the current council will vote, but I do know that it would have a hard time getting the necessary three votes should I be honored to serve as your Post 2 Councilman. Please come to the Thursday night "showdown" and voice your concern as will I.
Mr McMurrain knew of the street issue before he bought the property and should develop it within the specified guidelines that are in effect with the city maintaining the streets. The City Council does not need to be in the business of enabling developers when they perhaps have mistakenly underestimated the voices of city residents in holding their elected officials collective feet to the fire.
The bottom line is simple: Mr McMurrain, you do not own this bit of city property and it simply is not for sale.

You and Don Haddix have been devoted to seeing the will of the people through on this big box, city property sale. You, Cyndi Plunkett, Steve Brown and Brian Dingivan all deserve applause. Hope you win tonight!

Even if the council boobs decide to begin the process, you can always rescind it when you take office.
