Questions for the Democrats amongst us

Just who is going to end up paying for this?

Senator Clinton to urge freeze on foreclosures

Why do Democrats believe that the Federal Govt. should pony up my tax money to bail out bad business decisions?

Let foreclosures run their courses unchecked. Press with the conservative idea of cutting entitlement programs. Let's cut unemployment, medicare, medicaid, welfare assistance. Then, let's watch the refuse (or unlucky folks burdened with medical bills they can't pay) slowly waste away. As their communicable diseases go unchecked, those of us who catch them, but have insurance, will have a good shot at treatments and recovery from these illnesses. Eventually when the overwhelmed, underinsured, and (due to their medical conditions) unemployed finally die off, we'll have to institute one last social program: Buriel assistance. Once we've got all the corpses planted, the conservative fair tax utopia will be off and running.

Your attempt at an analogy between a zero interest loan and a STD is a reach don't you think?

If someone wants to engage in unprotected sex, why should I and a few hundred million others have to foot the bill? That's like getting the "business end of the deal", trying to keep it family like here, and no kiss afterwords.

"Former SEC chairman Arthur Levitt said yesterday that he thought the writedowns were just beginning and urged the Financial Accounting Standards Board to close the loophole which allowed banks to keep their holdings off their balance sheets, Bloomberg reported."

This is a taxpayer problem how?

Does the name ENRON ring a bell?

Besides, if me and a few hundred million others have to foot the bill for this where is the other 'entitlement money' going to come from?

I understand how your mind works, but "communicable disease" and "STD" are not one in the same. Chicken pox, the common cold, flu, bird flu, equine flu, anthrax, staph, diptheria, small pox, etc. are communicable diseases that aren't necessarily the result of sexual contact. The larger point is conservatives seem to push a philosophy where everyone keeps their own money and contributes nothing to the needs of organized and civilized society. Next we will have private police and ambulance service since there will be no tax base to fund community servants. So what happens to the 6800 or so families on the bad end of foreclosures in Atlanta alone? Is there no safety net whatsoever? What is your solution? Remember, that death tax is number one on the conservative hit list, so I wouldn't count on that revenue in your solution.

Well, we are right now bailing out the big BANKS with government money which we will pay back in the long run.

We have been bailing out the large wage earners with Bush's "tax-cut for the rich" for several years while financing the government with borrowed money from the Arabs and China!

We bailed out the Savings and Loans several years ago.

Speaking of bad business decisions: what about the current bank fiasco?

You only think Corporate---not humans.

The Iraqi war is a bad business decision also, except for Halliburton and Blackwater!

That about all Democrats (and a good percentage of Republicans) don't believe it's your money at all. Notice the number of times that tax cuts are referred to as "giving back" money to the citizens rather than letting people keep more of their own money to make their own decisions?

This is the way to blog!
