To the golf cart driver who darted across Highway 74 in front of my car on Saturday afternoon...

I just wanted to remind you that it is illegal for golf carts to ride on or cross either 54 or 74 without using one of the bridges or tunnels.

Your actions endangered yourself and your passengers. You also endangered me, my passengers, and the passengers of the half dozen other cars that had to take evasive action to avoid hitting you as you crossed from Westpark Walk to The Marketplace shopping center.

To the leaders of Peachtree City: We've got improve the cart access to and between our popular shopping areas at the intersection of 54 and 74. The completion of the new tunnel at Paschall and the CSX bridge and tunnels are not enough. We must move ahead with the planned tunnel between Westpark and Marketplace.

The only way this town will do anything about carts crossing 74 or 54 is to hit one,,hit it hard, kill all on board . This way, other crossers will take note that they may be next,,,,be careful cart people,I drive a BIG truck!!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of person talks of running over and killing people on a golf cart like it would be the answer to something?

You and your "big" truck should be proud.

The laws should be amended - it is nuts that we cannot set up an at-grade crossing with a light for golf carts. At the rate cart path crossings are progressing it'll be 10 years before a tunnel will be built.

Citizen_Steve, I don't know how firm GA state law is about carts riding on or crossing state highways. However, even if it were allowed, what controlled intersections are there along that section of highway 74 to improve cart access between Westpark and Marketplace?

Personally I think PTC should exhibit leadership on this issue and establish a new convention for at-grade, low-speed ("green") motorized vehicle crossings. GA won't say no though they may chew on it for a while. It'd really function just like a wide pedestrian crossing - push buttons and signal lights for safe-to-cross signaling.

What a well thought out, intelligent idea. Have golf carts stop all traffic at HWY 75 and 54 intersection for...oh...say...30 to 45 seconds, maybe longer, at lets say... 5pm or 6pm. I think I'll just go down and watch the road rage for grins. The intersection is near gridlock during several hours during the day already, and there's no way to relieve congestion for AT LEAST 10 years. You want to allow anyone, including, kids and little old ladies to cross the busiest intersection in town on a golf cart??? Can't we use a little common sense? Delaying 60+ cars at that intersection for a golf cart is a huge waste of gasoline and time, not to mention a huge safety concern.

Let a NU Wildcat explain this waste to you. There is already a golf cart bridge in the Westpark complex a leisurely ride up the road from where this probably happened.

Maybe you mean that there needs to be a path coming south towards Pike's on the westside. I'd like to git to the Mac on my cart myself. Hey, that's it, it was some crazed SEC fan (TN/KY, ALA/ AU) or was it a Tech fan going eastbound running for home?

Bladderq, while I always enjoy learning af another Big 10 (or is it 11?) alumn on this site, I'm sorry to tell you that the Hwy 74 bridge spans both the highway AND the CSX tracks. The bridge dumps you out in the West Village. It's hardly a leisurely ride from Centennial to Taco Mac, unless you know a route I'm not aware of.

I wish a "taxpayer friendlier" path from the bridge to Pike's would do the job, but alas...
