Hope y'all had a great time. Who was there? I'm not so sure I want to meet some of these people. Smiling

Well, at least the "3 of them" would keep the conversation going since $ always answers himself! We do know that "they" don't like small talk (recipes, etc.). Laughing out loud

"Just look at me playing in the mud with Denise. She's in full condesending judgement mode."

Based on this comment, thats certainly a case of the pot calling the kettle black"

"Beaver, if you have healthcare, make an appointment immediately with a mental health professional. I'm serious here. I believe something has happenned as of late that has caused you to come unglued (assuming you ever WERE glued). You just linked an article from 1975 to the blogs; 1975!!!!! Wow!"

I post articles that I think some might find of interest, and when you don't like the facts in the article, you attack me. Tell me Hack, in the liberal mind, when does a person's past actions or words no longer have any relevance. 10 years? 20 years, 32 years?
Jimmy Carter obviously saw no problem with segregation back in 1975- what leads us to believe that he thinks any differently now?

“...the term “democrat” originated as an epithet and referred to ‘one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.’”

She seems to enjoy alternating between being condescending, disruptive and abusive. One can only imagine what a miserable home life she must have.

Life is too short to deal with such toxic people.

I suspect she's a graduate of Fayette County High school.

"One can only imagine what a miserable home life she must have." (I never realized. How sad! Sad )

You must have a very BIG imagination then! Do you have nightmares, too? Laughing out loud

Dollar, a.k.a. $Smith / $nitpicker$, also talks a lot about his imagination. Puzzled

From what I've noticed, you have a hard time ignoring me yourself!

If you want something really "toxic," then I'd suggest that you read "The Frivolity of Evil." Excellent reading!

Be sure to notice the section on "depression" and happiness. Enjoy!

I think a lot of us agree on most of what's going wrong in our culture these days, and the doctor's article said it very well. If we raise an entire generation like the 16-year old in the article and her sperm donors, our society will crumble and fall. It's apparently in the process of doing that as we speak.

The question is what can WE do to reverse that process before it's too late. The problem I have with you, Denise, is that you come across as being smug and unconcerned. It's not YOUR failing, so it's not your problem. You haven't said that in so many words, but that seems to be your general attitude. Of course it is OUR problem--all of us. Like the Billy Joel song, "we'll all go down together".

I agree that "tough love" is at least part of the solution, as well as a return to a sense of "right and wrong" in which casual sex and irresponsible procreation is seen as two of the true evils in our world. However, don't forget the "love" part of that. You hate the sin, but you still love the sinner. Denise, you tend to come across as indifferent to the "losers" in our world. Maybe I'm reading you wrong--care to comment?

River, I've posted a lot here; so, you think you know where I'm coming from, but I'm at a disadvantage because I've not seen much that you've written. So, how about your commenting on the "losers" (your word choice) so that I have some idea of your perspective.

For example, WHY is it "OUR problem--all of us," and "what can WE do"?

I'd like to hear what you think. Thanks! Smiling

Denise, you and I have talked on many occasions before, but I had a different net name back then. I enjoy your posts and insights, but my point is that we are all in this together, like it or not. I tend to agree with you that most people succeed or fail in life as a result of their own choices. The problem is that when they fail, we all fail to some degree, so it's not enough to point the finger at them and say it's their own fault, even though that is mostly true. We need (collectively) to figure out how to build a society which channels most people to be the positive citizens that they are capable of becoming. Some people are beyond saving, but many of the ones that are failing, like the girl in the doctor's article, could be saved if their circumstances were different. Different circumstances lead to different choices in life. The $64,000 question is how can we help these people make the right decisions in their lives, like not having four kids with four different men. I don't have the answer to that, but we need to figure that out, or our society will fail. Bill Cosby has made similar comments to what I'm trying to say here.

I'm going out of town for the holidays, but I'll be glad to continue this discussion when I get back. Until then...

I find it rich that you would call Denise condecending, and abusive. She doesn't go out of her way to be any of those things while you make it a life's goal. I notice you never answered my last post to you, I guess you always miss the hard questions. Tell me this, you elitist, self centered ,better then thou toxic person, what has FCHS done to you that you feel you have to bad mouth them at every turn?
