What are You Thankful For?

It's that time of year again, what are you thankful for?

Big thanks to all of our service men and women. We can't thank you enough. Happy Veterans Day! Words are too simple, and not enough to thank you for your service.

A Toast..."To us and those like us, D@*# few left"!

To those who have expressed their gratitude, you are welcome, and to those who have not or won't, you're welcome too! Our brave men and women serve to protect your constitutional right to be an ungrateful idiot.

Long past is the day of the general public shunning of veterans coming home from combat tours. Military folks travelling through airports are now acknowledged by total strangers with hand shakes and words of gratitude across our nation.
Some years ago I heard Father David Epps speaking at a Veterans Ceremony when he iterated a story relayed to him as men and women were being deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Storm. He spoke of being asked the question of would these young soldiers be treated with the same distain as those of a generation earlier. The reponse was clear: The men and women returning from that conflict and others to follow would be welcomed home and shown gratitude for their sacrifice because these were the sons and daughters of Viet Nam Veterans.

According to the AJC, about 1000 people watched the veterans parade with General Honoree in Atlanta yesterday! There were more in the parade than watched it.
I recall coming home also, and people wondered where I had been working---they hadn't seen me for years. Didn't bother me then, I was glad to get out and go to school and to work.
I think maybe bad wars and people having a choice to be in the military makes a difference. If they wanted go go--then they wanted to go, or had no other choice in a way to make a living.
However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with our enlisted people--just their leaders!

A big heartfelt appreciation for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom, that same freedom which allows us to be able to blog on this site everyday.

As a fellow serviceman, a big thanks to those who continue to serve our country (Thanks hack) in this ever changing times.

Gob Bless all!

Well, I suppose they could use a raise and better VA treatment. Maybe even come home occasionally!
They are kids, they don't understand verbal stuff very well. Some career guys just want better retirement, that is all.

Can't you hide your contempt for our military even on veterans day? Just because you're in your 20's doesn't mean you're stupid{well maybe you but not the rest of the world}. I really don't understand why you think you are so much smarter then the rest of the world, everyone knows that you use three different ID's on here just so you can agree with yourself, you even forget which you is answering which you sometimes, so climb off the backs of our soldiers you miserable old fool.

I have no "contempt" to hide, my friend. I am a Veteran.
My point is that it is hypocritical to give lip-service, bragging on military personnel in public places. Reminds me of those street prayers and preachers. They want self recognition.
I had three uncles in WWII, three purple hearts! Other close relatives serving! They don't need me saying how great they are in a public gathering or on-line.
I have worked and contributed greatly for veterans affairs, and have done all I could, short of being a public jack-ass, to protect them in Iraq.
The Pentagon has problems; the officer's corp has problems; the civilian department heads for the military have problems--especially with the General ranks. (Country not first). Corrections need and must be made.
If you enjoy a parade, then go to one.

That's the point you don't hide your contempt, let me guess when you were in they made you start at the bottom and you resented it. They made you follow orders and you resented it. They made you do things their way and you resented it and all these years later you still can't understand why they didn't make you a General in bootcamp and let you run the show. If you don't want to say something nice don't say anything, didn't your mama ever tell you that? Oh that's right she was a woman and that's another of your pet peeves. By the way, never forget, I'm not your friend.

Say something nice yourself, hutch!
I had no trouble in the military as you suppose.
They (the military) used to be pretty good for teenagers prior to college, to learn how to make America greater. Don't know about today!!!
The leadership is the only military problem. The kids and most officers will follow orders. I think the median age of enlisted is 20.5 who weren't in the Guard or reserves as week-end warriors.

Of course you had trouble, you were more then likely the same loser you are now that's why hate the military so much now. Tell me which personality gets to pick what you eat for breakfast.
