STILL NOT GETTING IT

Mike King's picture

Last evening I was taken aback by the mayor's article in the Peachtree City Newsletter regarding what he believes to be the eventuality of a big box such as Kohls. With three of four residents standing firmly against them, I must reiterate what I said in an earlier article: "Mr Mayor, are you listening?"
Of the four page letter, one and one-half pages are his letter in support or perhaps his belief that they are essential for tax revenue and for the long term life of the development.
I do not hold this belief, nor do I see them as inevitable. Regional retail outlets are not the answer, smaller shops that are golf cart accessable for neighboring villages are what I have heard the residents say, and they have said it loud. It is long past the time to start listening to your constituancy Mr Mayor, and not those who wish to erode the quality of life that we all enjoy.
We have an obligation to maintain the uniqueness of Peachtree City, not one to succumb to developer priorities.

Anyone have a link to the newsletter? The latest on peachtree-city.org is from Spring 2007.

Came in the mail yesterday. It confirmed what most of us suspected. When harmon tipped off mcBULLY it was just a stall tactic. harold and his buddy still want to give away our city street for a big box.

While I applaud Mr. King's comments on preserving Peachtree City, I'm left wanting. Several friends of mine who know Mike King are tenative about supporting him.

One admitted she supported Mayor Logsdon previously and didn't "want to go through that again."

Mayor Logsdon has made a lot of us distrustful of government and people are whispering that King might be another wolf in sheep's clothing.

It might be better if we could elect a successfully retired person instead of a Colonel for a change. I have nothing against Colonels, or Majors, it is that they mostly do need a second retirement and an in with the right people. May not be the best way to go for a city.
They are hard workers but see things differently than one who wants to leave a legacy.
