County volleyball champions?

Sandy Creek will play Columbus tomorrow Saturday at 1:30 PM for the sate AAA volleyball title. In an all county match up, Starr’s Mill and McIntosh will be facing each other for the AAAA championship at 4:00 PM.
The games will take place at Marietta High School., 1171 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, GA
Is this another trend in the continued success of our county in high school athletics?
Congratulations to all three teams in your very successful season!

With all the bad things going on in the county his week, especially with my beloved Whitewater, these games along with the Tigers football game this evening will bring us a much needed break. Good luck to all!

No doubt Fayette County will have at least one champion come tomorrow! This year has shown a continued shift away from private school dominance in volleyball. McIntosh defeated Woodward Academy and Starr's Mill beat St. Pius convincingly. Sandy Creek beat perennial favorite Westminster. Kudos to the tremendous work these athletes and coaches have put into bringing the best volleyball in the state to Fayette County. Dottie Licciardi, Wendy Weaver and Paul Collins have done wonderful jobs with their respective schools, and the volleyball programs are improving at local schools like Fayette County, Whitewater and Northgate as well. Keep up the good work, and CONGRATULATIONS!
