This is a recent 7 min. speech Mike Huckabee gave. I hope it will peak your interest. He can win, he is the only Republican Candidate rising in Iowa.

But if he can’t win the hearts and minds of the mainstream Republican intellectuals, he will have a difficult time winning the nomination.

FRED SAWYER AND HUCKABEE FINN

Oh, and according to the polls for the Iowa Republican Caucus, Romney is the one gaining and Huckabee has stabilized and/or is declining:

Jeffc Using the same data, look at the graph in the middle of the page. Romney has spent the most in Iowa and has also been slipping the most since August, If Mike can do with our taxes as he has done with the little financial support he has gotten, he truly is conservative. In a two month span Huckabee has doubled in the polls with not even half the money Romney has.

Don't get me wrong Huckabee has a LONG way to go. My hope is that he will have a good finish in Iowa and N.H. which will then slingshot him.

If we had believed the numbers that were presented this early in 04' then we should say hello to president Dean. Things change quickly, IT CAN BE DONE, don't vote for someone based on money, vote for them based on experience, ideas, and voting record. Romney has experience, ideas, but voting record?????

Huckabee has leapt up in Iowa in the latest Rasmussen Poll. I still think he lacks the financial backing to go the whole way but if he continues this way he will be in an excellent position to get the VP spot, especially if a social degenerate like Guliani gets the top spot.

Republican Iowa Caucus

Republicans could coalesce around Huckabee if they decide they don’t like a gay-rights backing, pro-abortion, anti-gun candidate like Guliani who has been married ten or fifteen times and whose own family hates him. What's not to like? But stranger things have happened.

With Thompson remarkably lackluster performance and Brownback out, Huckabee is showing remarkable strength.

We’ll still beat him, but I have to admit he’s looking good.

With the recent Iowa polls showing Huckabee in a virtual tie with Thompson for second, one can conclude he is utilizing his money to the fullest extent. Now that Brownback has decided to back out, my prediction is that Huckabee will get a boost of about 2%-4%. This could push him into second before the primary!!!!

I am so proud of being apart of such a grass roots campaign, and I hope everyone takes another look at him. I hate hearing things like "I really like Huckabee's ideas the best, but there is no way he can win" ITS THE PRIMARY, THAT IS WHY THERE ARE 9 CANDIDATES, if you like someone vote for him!!! (or in Cynthia and Hillary's case her)

Yes, I agree. Brownback's supporters have no other candidate but Huckabee. Virtually all of Sam's supporters go to him.

Moving up the Iowa contest to January 3 is a plot by the Romney people. We are all glad it isn't happening here. Can you imagine the doorbell ringing on Christmas eve: "Merry Chrismas! I'm here from the xxxxx campaign..."

And Shelby, you don't have to be polite and include Cynthia and Hillary's supporters here on this particular blog. There aren't any.

Jeff:

If anyone could understand the appeal of a plain speaking, former southern governor who's perceived as a "hayseed" by the Washington establishment, it should be you!

I kinda like Huckabee! I seriously think his support for the FairTax is a very big political mistake. Can you imagine a Republican running on a plan whereby the Dems are asking him to explain why he wants to cut your paycheck by 23% while increasing the cost of gasoline by that amount and increasing taxes on your mortgage and credit card debt by 23%? I would envision a political slaughter but if that is his position, then so be it.

As to the specific point in your blog, I must say: point well taken!
