Hwy 54, East of Gingercake Road

Does anyone know what is being built on the corner of Hwy 54 and Marquis Drive (across from where the DuRoc Cafe previously was located?) They have cleared off the land on that whole corner.

Along with the lot snapfinger asked about, the corner lot of Grady Avenue & Hwy 54 W has been cleared, and the triangular piece of property in the middle of Hwy 54 East & West, across from Tiger Trail is being cleared along with the old house and buildings that have been there forever.

Why do the builders have to clear-cut leaving no trees usually, or a few scrawny, most likely not viable, trees? Can't they plan around some mature trees?

I guess Fayetteville doesn't have enough old and new buildings that are empty and have been for ages. With the water shortage, it totally makes sense to clear property to create run-off water problems when we do get rain, and let's not think anything green year-round that helps clear our polluted air is an asset for all of us!

Can anyone within in the city and county say NO!? We need to purge all the Yes Men in office and get some true "tree huggers" in there so some natural areas can continue to be left alone. (you know, for chipmunks and assorted animals to live in, too)

I haven't seen that! What a shame! All of that property is in the city of Fayetteville.

I totally agree with everything that you said. We have water restrictions and there should be a moratorium on all new building.

Water run off? The developers don't care. Apparently Fayetteville government doesn't either.

Purge the "Yes Men?" Absolutely!

In that area, that is what I would assume they are doing.

Remember the name of the city is Fayettedale, or Riverville, I can't remember which, but seeing that my office is immediately behind this new construction, I stopped and asked.

What happened was a Construction Company Executive was driving down Hwy 85 in Riverdale and marveled at the types of Stores they had. He continued to drive south another 10 miles,-and realizing he was still in Riverdale, noticed that a pawn shop/check cashing store was no where to be seen. So he got the permit to build it this past month, as if thats so hard to get considering the lack of any real code enforcement or considerate zoning ordinances for this community.

Next thing you know, he realized that the locals needed a tatoo parlor and body piercing establishment to round out a DUI driving school that was going into the basement stores.

Personally, I thinking his plans for 2 Bail Bondsmen stores is too much, and besides the Rent to Own store might want to expand, but hey, he's got a right to rape----reap the benefits of his new construction.

It's a combo Kohl's/Goodwill/tattoo parlor. JK Smiling ! I can't believe how much the west side of F'ville has built up. I'm glad I live east...
