Where will my fellow bloggers stand on insults to soldiers?

AF A-10's picture

When John Kerry botched a joke and made it sound like stupid soldiers were stuck in Iraq, there were many blog posts here and a chain of responses. The Patreaus/betray us add received congressional attention led by House and Senate GOPers. We passed a House Measure to condemn ads that attack soldier's integrity and honor.

Last week, American Conservative magazine had General Patreaus on their cover with the headline, "Sycophant Savior." I am of the mindset that ads can say whatever they want in a free society, but I am curious to see if the GOP will again lead a condemnation campaign against, now, American Conservative magazine.

And where will they weigh in on drug-addicted military draft-dodging Rush Limbaugh having the nerve to call antiwar veterans of the Iraq war "phony soldiers." Rush later tried to spin that he meant the comment for only one soldier, but then he added John Murtha to the list of 2 "phony soldier."

What say you my fellow bloggers? Is it acceptable for Rush never brave enough to serve Limbaugh to judge the service of American troops, including many who have sacrificed their lives, because they feel that we need to end our MILITARY operation in Iraq? I found Rush's statements to be absolutely outrageous. And I hope he honors the request of 2 of these veterans to bring them on his show and call them phony to their faces. I imagine the coward will not comply with those requests.

The American Conservative magazine is run by former republican, isolationist conservatives like Pat Buchanan. Andrew Bacevich, the author of the Patraeus article, has been against the war from the very beginning (unlike the “I voted for it before I voted against it, and if you’re serving in Iraq it’s because you are too stupid to get a degree from a prestigious liberal university” John Kerry that you mentioned.) However, he believes, as I do, that if we want to win in Iraq we need to capitalize on our successes of late and keep the pressure on, not start unwinding the surge so soon. Is the magazine cover and article over the top? I believe so, but there's a big difference between criticism from conservative magazines or leftist web sites, and criticism from that’s the way they are and that’s why most conservatives don’t read it, even though they have a lot of great articles. I also tend to give Bacevich a pass for his anger toward Patraeus since his son was killed recently in Iraq.

As for that fat mouthed scum-bag Murtha, he is nothing but an embarrassment to the country and to the Marine Corps. What he did to those Marines in Haditha is unforgivable:

Murtha: “Well I'll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we're gonna take care...we don't know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and actually killed civilians and...I... ...this was not an action...this was not...first they tried to say it was an IED, there was no IED involved in this. This was troops, they were so stressed out, they went into houses and killed children, women and children. 24 people they killed.”

Without a shred of evidence an elected representative of the United States goes on national television and says this. He is absolute scum!

anti-war Iraqi veterans who advocate withdrawl from combat operations there. Those were his words. He tried to change what he actually said after he started feeling the heat two days later. He didn't mention Murtha with his original "phony soldiers" Bull crap comment launched by a coward who could NEVER fill even an AWOL soldier's shoes. The man that coind the phrase "Betrayus" in attacking Chuck Hagel, another brave veteran who's jock strap he couldn't support. Maximus, please don't try to defend this "I had a trick knee so I couldn't go to Nam but now I will attack veterans" milk toast. Please don't. Please.

Cheers

RUSH : The morning update on Wednesday dealt with a soldier, a fake, phony soldier by the name of Jesse MacBeth who never served in Iraq; he was never an Army Ranger. He was drummed out of the military in 44 days. He had his day in court; he never got the Purple Heart as he claimed, and he described all these war atrocities. He became a hero to the anti-war left. They love phony soldiers, and they prop 'em up. When it is demonstrated that they have been lying about things, then they just forget about it. There's no retraction; there's no apology; there's no, "Uh-oh, sorry." After doing that morning update on Wednesday, I got a phone call yesterday from somebody, we were talking about the troops, and this gentleman said something which you'll hear here in just a second, prompting me to reply "yeah, the phony soldiers."

RUSH ARCHIVE: It's not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it's not. And what's really funny is they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

CALLER: The phony soldiers. If you talk to any real soldier and they're proud to serve, they want to be over in Iraq, they understand their sacrifice and they're willing to sacrifice for the country.

RUSH: They joined to be in Iraq.

I didn’t hear it live but if this is an accurate portrayal of what you are talking about, and it probably is, then I don’t understand the outrage.

Ask yourself why Rush has not replayed the audio in its entirety. He has tried to spin this to the best of his ability. He spoke of "soldiers" plural who say we should end combat operations in Iraq. He has tried his best to say he was talking only about Jesse MAcBeth. He even suggested he was talking about JAck Murtha. Rush is a man lacking the bravery to serve trying to challenge men who have served. I ain't buying anything Rush tries to sell with respect to military service, because he has no clue what those two words mean.

The leftist blogs have the same thing, and there’s nothing there. These people listen to everything Rush and other conservative talk show hosts say everyday just waiting for them to say something that they can spin. They’re especially desperate now since Rush has been blamed for the defeat of Hillary’s last socialist health care plan and they don’t want a repeat of that.

You can listen to every conservative talk show everyday and you’ll never hear one of them accuse Marines in battle of being murderers like that fat-mouthed scum-bag Murtha did.

I'm sure Limbaugh's health plan is the best that can be bought, except it probably wouldn't pay for thousands of Oxycontin in 60 days for his "sore" back. So he made villains of a simple housekeeper and who knows how many doctors? A fine man.

I’m sure that Rush paid for his own oxycontin. That would be the difference between a conservative drug addict and a liberal drug addict. The liberal cries and whines for someone else to pay for his drugs, or steals, robs and kills for it. The conservative pays for his own – until he sufficiently fries his brain and becomes a liberal.

I hope you don't turn out to be some knock down drag out hour glass-shaped blonde bombshell. I'll be in divorce court for alienation of affection. Anyway, to be fair, there is a clear difference between conservative drug abusers (Rush and Rev. Ted Haggard) and liberal abusers. The conservative addict does speed off of the "member" of a gay prostitute while condemning drugs and homosexuality. The conservative Rush ranted about the need for stiffer drug penalties on his radio show while abusing prescription drugs illegally. Liberal addicts are, in general, just addicts.

…Funny but disgusting.

You’re wife doesn’t need to worry about me. I used to have blonde hair before it all migrated down to my back. I think it’s brownish-gray now. I’ll have to check.

I'm sure he paid for it. No insurance company would fill that many RX.
Where did he get the money? From people like you who listen to his fuzzy headed crap.

Hack and company are grabbing at straws. Whenever someone confronts them with something, they don't answer to it - they deflect by calling attention to people like Rush. Never mind the Shrillary didn't condemb the NYT Fish Wrapper add. The New York Times - "all the news that's fit to wrap dead fish in..."

“...the term “democrat” originated as an epithet and referred to ‘one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.’”

When General Petraus writes his book upon retirement( immediately after his term in Iraq) he will indicate that he is a soldier and that his orders were to prepare Iraq militarily so that he and his men could encamp in the green zone and nearby, and let the Iraqis begin their real civil war to determine who will govern.
We will primarily bomb the borders with Iran and Syria to try to stop some of the infiltration.
It is a gentleman's way to get out. The General could have resigned, I suppose, but he considers it loyalty.

My dear "Warthog" flyer; your assessment is on target, why aren't my fellow conservatives calling this out? why haven't Sean Hannity and the likes led off their segments with such information. This has to stop, it keeps eroding at the base of our patriotism, heck, if we don't support our troops, especially when in harms way, who will?

I have a problem with sending our military leaders into political venues to read politicl reports that they didn't write. Patraeus should never have been in this position. I think that's what has his military boss, the Admiral, seriously hacked off at him right now. But I don't know how Patreaus could have said "no" to the president.

Limbaugh, as well as Cheney, and many other administration chippies, had "better things to do" rather than get drafted. Bush II was allowed into a Guard unit that was full-up, due to Bush I influence.
Yes, there were a few democrats who skipped out also, Clinton did until his number wasn't needed, but they didn't start a six year war using married reserves, guards, and minority volunteers who are getting screwed! Then not plan to take care of the dead and wounded.
I know of no one insulting the soldiers. Their leaders are being insulted, and should be.
Some people think if we speak out as a democracy about a crazy war, that we are helping terrorists---it is just the opposite. The terrorists see that we can have freedom here, and so can they there if they quit supporting dictators.
