Minnesota Bridge

That problem is apparently solved! No more news!
A mine disaster now is day and night coverage. Their dangerous gamble didn't work the first time, nor the rescue effort!
Has Aruba closed out yet? Where are the Calpo brothers?
Jon Benet apparently was a victim of the strange dude now in Atlanta. He said today on TV that what he said previously was true and that it was an accident as he said.
The Lady Preacher shooter is out already isn't she?
What about the lady kid killer (drowning), all done?
At last count it is estimated there are now 100,000 kid predators around---most not caught. Kill out that Viagra pill somebody!
Did Barry actually say he became a muscle bound monstrosity when he hit 70 HRs by "untainted" means? I think he did.
What do we pay Pro basketball referees? Apparently not nearly enough!
Do all Miss Americas make sexy, porno, drinking, pictures anymore?
Are there any women left who are entirely natural in all their parts? (I won't count artificial fingernails).
Why do they do those things---for their men? I thought they gave up such stuff and became equal and feminists!
I hear Wayne Gretzky's wife gambled on Hockey---what next?
Three know roid rasslers now dead, I think, at an early age! Benoit apparently did have a lot of money from his exhibitions that were pre-planned.
Grandaddy, previous wives, previous children, wives folks, all fighting over his stuff. NO WILL!
Old man boxer from Fayette County at about 50 now fighting in Germany, I hear. Fayette taxes went way up on his cow pasture with a huge barn.
The wildest thing recently has been the NYSE! Down a thousand points!!! Seems it was only a total of 800 about ten years ago! Maybe the national debt of nine trillion and the quadra zillion billion, individuals debts is causing some of it, maybe?
We have enough houses for China and still building. Some of us need to live in clay and straw brick houses for awhile.

"We have enough houses for China and still building. Some of us need to live in clay and straw brick houses for awhile."

Are we making houses here to sell to China? Puzzled

It's hot enough to make your clay and straw bricks. Brick making and hut building should keep you busy and out of trouble. Just don't try making a bridge out of them. That's better than watching so much TV! You surely can string more unrelated bits of info together than anyone else I've ever known. Laughing out loud

Just like President Clinton, I can departmentalize my thoughts----think of more than one thing at a time intelligently, but also can bring one to bear that is more important when necessary, but not forgetting the others which are also important, and eventually get them all done without forgetting anything happening at any time. Such a man, such a man! Man do we miss him.

So, you're "just like President Clinton" in the thinking department? You can "think of more than one thing at a time intelligently"? That's good to find out. I'd never have guessed it. Laughing out loud

"without forgetting anything happening at any time" -- Did you remember to take your meds? Puzzled

Maybe you should re-read Bad PTC's post, "$, get some help," and think about our previous discussions, after taking your meds. Eye-wink

I believe that the word you meant to use was compartmentalize, not departmentalize. Those little prefixes do make a difference.

Compartmentalization, in psychology, is a form of thought control used to make it easier to inhibit certain ideas, especially those that make one uncomfortable. It is a dissociative state in which some integrated part of a person's life becomes separated from the rest of the personality and attempts to function independently.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), originally named Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), is a controversial mental condition whereby a single individual supposedly evidences two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment (such as in The Three Faces of Eve and Sybil). This condition is not an equivalent for schizophrenia. The term schizophrenia comes from root words for "split mind," but refers more to a fracture in the normal functioning of the brain rather than the personality.

Dissociation at its simplest means that two or more mental processes or contents are not associated or integrated, elements that should normally be associated or integrated in conscious awareness and memory in a mentally stable person. Multiple personalities occur when the identity of a person dissociates to the extent that he supposedly has separate existences from his own identity.

Compartmentalization is a process of separating parts of the self from awareness of other parts and behaving as if one had separate sets of values. When in public with one's wife, a husband acts happily married; but when alone with an attractive (or maybe not) female, the same husband says, "Hillary, who?" Eye-wink

"COMPARTMENTALIZE THIS"

The Clinton years have created a whole Jeopardy category of words and phrases that will outlast our president's Trumanesque legacy of school uniforms and handgun trigger locks. Among the words imbued with new meanings and phrases drained of old ones are: "parsing"; "no controlling legal authority"; "I did not have sexual relations with that woman . . . .

But the word that wins — hands down — for epitomizing moral relativism and craven political hypocrisy is . . . "compartmentalization." What does it mean? Well, for the president's sycophants and apologists, it means that he can be a great president, but a failed man. A consummate liar, but a force for good. A sexual predator, but a champion of women's rights. As a matter of logic and fact this is indisputable. One can excel at one's job but fall short elsewhere.

But compartmentalization is a moral fraud and the Left knows it, although it has been at the core of the Left's arguements [sic] for generations.

. . . . .

Compartmentalization is not only an affront to the secular relativism of "the personal is political" but also an affront to old-fashioned morality and plain character. For centuries a hallmark of art, literature, film, religion, and fable has been to depict rich and powerful men behaving abysmally in private but admirably in public. These men are invariably the villain. Compartmentalization turns this ancient and morally vital observation on its head. Not only is it okay to be evil in private but good in public — it is admirable. Shocked

"Character Matters"

There was a time when Bill Clinton bragged about his uncanny gift for "compartmentalization." To the cheers of the mainstream press, Clinton and his spinners insisted that he could keep his "worlds" separate, that his "personal" problems had no effect on his ability to govern.

. . . . .

All of this always struck many of us as nonsense. The notion that we can treat different parts of our own lives as if they existed in parallel dimensions with no contact with or impact on one another is simply an unsustainable fiction [maybe like Robert Louis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde?].
