False Advertising

The Federal Trade Commission and most states have laws against false advertising. Since the administration has not seen fit to enforce these laws except in extreme cases (medicine sometimes), we now have a plethora of such ads.
I saw one guy on Tv yesterday saying that he could cure any kind of arthritis, even degenerative arthritis, with diets. (you know alfalfa, weeds, fish instead of hamburger, etc.).
People who are desperate and in great pain will try anything and they know it.
Permanent weight loss is another offender in a big way. They even have the gall to show, usually a woman, who has done the program, still appearing to weigh 230 pounds under a hiding dress, as a prime example of what can be accomplished. Likely, she will weigh 300 again in six months.
Gyms and spas are big money makers. They do nothing for the average person that he can do without them.
The old, "icy hot" of 1960s Buster Crabbe fame is now head on, finger on, arm on, toe on, thigh on, and anything else that is hurting. They usually stink so bad you think they must help! They don't.
Making money buying and selling real estate is still a hot bunch of ads, even in today's market! No money of your own required. Can make $500,000 per year or more.
Loud mouths putting on seminars in great stadiums and coliseums to make a Donald Trump out of you...for $175. Even a Rudy Juliana..or how to marry four times.
Autos are the worst, especially at weather prediction (what has happened not what will happen) time on local TV.
And worst of all, prayer cloths, free hotel rooms forever for $1000, special Bibles, pendants with bible figurines, Paul Crouch's picture (wife too floozy to show).
Benny will also cure ANYTHING you have if the acting is good.
Large corporations also have medicines that you should insist that your doctor prescribe, ( even without an examination), Vacations and hotels in paradise for $50 if you will come and be able to take 2 days of high pressure.
It goes on and on!
Isn't it all embarrassing to most of you? What do the Saudis think of us?
