As I stated earlier, verbal diarrhea and venom to characterize a race, ethnicity or religious belief as a group is Racist PERIOD. To justify it by saying "I criticize my own race" (from a different post) is looking for any avenue to stand on their soap box and be racist.

So when your white hood is off, you apply derogatory terms to your race, but when you’re fully KLAD, you’re allowed to use the venom in your core beliefs to attack other backgrounds?

. . . a rather sad attempt at black dialect. To really get the 'sense' of this unique American idiom - check out Alice Walker's The Color Purple - or some of Langston Hughes poetry. More better??? Come now . . .it should read 'mo better'. This dialect has been around long before the phrase 'Ebonics' was coined. Many blacks of my mother's generation learned to recite the different poems by Langston and other black authors for church gatherings and family reunions using 'black dialect'. They all were also taught to speak 'standard' English. They were proficient in both idioms. . .speaking, reading, and writing standard English well enough to gain entrance into some of the country's leading universities.

There was nothing black about it. Just ignorance, that's all. Why? did it strike home.

You can say what you want about the bloggers on this web site, but we're not stupid. There's just about every personality under the sun on here and there are more than a few racist, hateful and plain ornery types. But don't try to spin it that you weren't talking about a particular race.

"My britches wuz faling of me! They also sed thet my whit shirt wuz way to long and droopy"

I know a lot of people might wear baggy jeans and long white shirts, but if you take a quick census of people wearing that today, you'd likely come up with one group wearing it more than another.

And just what was the point of the blog again? Was that your attempt at a Billy Crystal character monologue - like his homeless vet or his Jewish grandpa?

. .just ignorance You're obviously one of those in this state who did not finish high school. Try to demonstrate a higher degree of understanding. What was your point?

Is "higher degree" code for "cut us some slack?"
I do have a question for you about black churches, however. You mentioned going to church to recite poetry.
I also see almost every political meeting or celebrity gathering, that occurs in black Atlanta, happens within a church.
Is their no public building available to them for their worldly meetings, or just what is the reasoning for such gatherings?

what is the reasoning for such gatherings?

I agree with the participants in this discussion - they are not stupid. So my attempt to answer your question is for your edification. The Black church was and in many communities still is the center of Black social and political life. As you know - it was just 40 years ago that many 'meeting' places were not accessible to persons of color in the south. A tradition is hard to break - and in many cases - there is no desire to break it. The church in the Black community has been and probably will continue to be the 'gathering place'. (By the way - it is also usually free of charge - instead of paying a hotel/or hall a fee for meeting space.) .. . and if there is a fee - the money remains in the community.

Maam, you have to understand old dollar, that was just his idea of humor, only three people in this state understand him[or think he's funny], one of which is himself, and the other two won't admit to it.

I think the lady got exactly everything I said, but tried to make it out to be racist, which it was not. I know country hicks who speak similarily to what I writ. I see many anglo-saxons wearing such terrible clothing as described and who speak unintelligently.

that was no apology, I was just trying to explain your warped sense of humor. I think it was a tad racist myself, whether you will admit it or not.
