Should there be playoffs in college football?

Bernie Machen, the President of the University of Florida, is campaigning for a playoff system for college football. Should there be playoffs in college football and, more importantly, will it ever happen?

why don't they already have playoffs? Every other sport at every level does .... even football at every other level than college.

I agree with McDonough Dog. There should be a system where the top conference teams square off with a few-at-larges. It would end all of the controversy around the BCS.

As a UGA grad, it pains me to agree with a Gator. But, a good idea is still a good idea. I hope that other large schools will hop on board with this movement and add some March Madness fun to football.

That being said, the only way that this can be done is to work out a way to keep the money flowing to the conferences, schools and bowls that the current system generates. Any ideas from cyberspace?

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Without a doubt. Let the Conference Champs play it out. Maybe have 2 at large. 8 teams max.

SEC/ACC/Big 12/Big 11/Pac 10/Big East + 2 At Large.

Only 4 teams would have extra games beyond what they normally would have in any one year. What are they waiting on?
