Prediction

I figure that if there is a low turnout, say less than 3500 voters, Brown wins. He will pull from his base of senior citizens who are more prone to vote.

More than 3500 and Harold Logsdon wins.

We'll see in just over 2 hours.

Wow.

While the election isn't officially over, it is OVER for Steve Brown.

How do you spell landslide?

Steve, you have done some very good things, but the negativity and use of the dais to assault anyone that opposed your stance has done you in.

Good luck in your future endeavours.

As I said, we now move forward.

I sincerely hope Logsdon is not what I fear he will be.

We shall now find out.

I am with you PTC Guy and I hope Logsdon is NOT what I also fear he will be.
But you know what FEAR is (false evidence appearing real)and I hope it holds true as Logsdon will be joining the group of rookies. With Rapson and Weed we had deep experienced in Public Operations. Combined they had over 30 years of public experience.
Now we have 5 who have NO public experience.
Our city staff will now have to deal with it. Lets hope they all do not quit with 5 inexperienced council members to deal with.
Good Luck Bernie, you will need it!

Rapson and Weed were as much of the problem as Brown was. Wake up and smell the roses!!!!!!!

I don't GET why the citizens of PTC would choose to elect the highest ranking officer of our city and other officers of our city who have NO experience. Since most of Logsdon supporters claim they run their own businesses you of all people, should know you need experienced employees. What do you think our elected officials are? Elected employees of our city! Why do we continue to put inexperienced people in office?
Look at what happened to Delta when they choose a leader (Leo Mullin) who had NO airline experience??? I ask you that, fine shape they are in.
When I interview employees for the company I work for (fortune 30), which I do on a regular basis, I look for experience. Do you think that Home Deport or other successful businesses will hire someone as CFO or CEO because their neighbor said they were good, or do you think they look for experience in their industry? Well why the citizens of Peachtree City think our city deserves inexperienced elected officials. Come on, this was not a student council election! Popularity contests are not what it is about.
I sure hope I do not read the blogs next year when all of you are complaining! But then again, since most of you do not use your real names how will I know?

Cass:

We vote for inexperienced "politicians" because we don't like the ones we've got.

Experience is good if you're building a bridge. To be a municipal decisionmaker, you'll get the information you need from your staff. You can be a good manager and not have any technical knowledge about a process. We are hiring MANAGERS.

You're suggesting career politicians would be better, and I think there are MANY who would disagree with you. And THAT'S why there are term limits.

Thanks anyway. By the way, was your husband, who ran for City Council and lost handily, experienced?

You don't have any idea how happy they are right now if you think they would "all quit." Maybe you should talk to some of the staff and ask them about it once Brown vacates the premises. Start with the City Manager Bernie McMullen first and all the department heads of the City.
Ask the finance chief if he is going to miss Steve Rapson being on council. Both of these people got forced into the Brown debacle called the Tourism Authority where they got extra work piled-on their backs with no warning and massive staff upheavals in progress due to Brown's meddling. Hey, and no more babysitting services either have to be provided by people too scared of what would happen.

I actually do not believe they are going to make any public pronouncements.

Not a good move for Staff to get politically active.

No way. They'll be happy to share their opinions to people that know them though. I know several who are overjoyed right now.

Dana, always good to hear from you my friend. Hey, I knocked on a lot of doors during the campaign and I ran into a TON of seniors who did NOT like Brown. Also, I know for a fact that Harold canvassed all of the senior communities heavily throughout the campaign, and he was well received.

This whole idea of Brown having a lock on the senior vote just ain't the case. But as you say, we'll know for sure in a couple of hours.

Best wishes,
Dan Tennant

This is one SENIOR that will be glad to see Steve Brown go away.

At 3:00 PM the poll worker said 50% of the first round voting.

So a very low turn out by that, as in less than 4,000.
