Wait a minute!

I'm fed up with this attitude that we would be a failure as a country if we admit the stupid Iraq thing was a horrible mistake and give the dumb place back to them.
We are the most powerful and progressive country on the face of the earth, and no one mistake like Iraq will ever do us in. We have the brains and resources to literally destroy the earth if we wanted to do so.
However, if we want to go down the drain after only 2-300 years, just as did Greece, Rome, Persia, and England and France, then continue on with this half planned and one-fourth executed carnival in Iraq!
Make corrections even if it admits we had some stupid people in charge, and proceed to the next great challenge.
Pride is a dud when used to cover-up mistakes.

Same old empire

We are no longer the most powerful nation on earth. People live better lives in northern Europe, with universal healthy coverage, longer life expectancies, etc, etc.

Iraq would not be our only mistake. We blew it before in Vietnam, Cambodia and siding with the wrong, bad guys in El Salvador and Chile during the 70s and 80s. In fact, we lost the Vietnam war and we will lose in Iraq more sooner than later.

We are already destroying the earth with our emissions and overexploitation of its resources, furthermore, we are already destroying other countries (i.e. Iraq again) populations with our dumb military interventions, and a a side product, destroying our reputation.

So, I think our American empire will follow the destiny of the others, probably we will rule 250-300 years, but I already see China rising and taking our place in 50-100 years. We are in debt up to our ears with them.

Hail Bush and Cheney, heralds of our empire decadence!

OMG, DragNet, turn off PBS and NPR and get out of Fay Co from time to time to get some real info.

Northern Europe superiority? You must be kidding. Those folks wouldn’t recognize middle class if it bit them in the A$$. The feudal system is still in place. NO MIDDLE CLASS. High unemployment. Marauding bans of unemployed youths. Remember the “student riots” of Paris? What . . . two years running. Hello. Ireland is the envy of the EU with their low tax, booming, capitalist economy.

Universal health coverage? Socialism is in its death throws on the continent. Even Chirac and Villipan have tried reform to keep the country from financial ruin. A conservative is about to be elected President of France. Wake up! Finally embrace the FACT that socialism/collectivism/communism doesn’t work. We need less socialism and more competition to make our healthcare system work.

The EU are just a bunch of wimps in a multicultural haze being overtaken by the “turks”.

Superior? . . . Only in their and your mind.

You don’t need to make other’s think twice, you need to think for yourself.

....but evident facts, backed by numbersand statistics. I'd agree that France has lost the train, but I was referring more to Sweden, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Finland. Even Spain is making strides soon to become the 9th economy on this earth. I have family there and guess what, their health system is universal, first class coverage, mo HMOs and middlemen deciding for you and your doctor.

I think it is you who need to get a passport and go see the world. I have 2 already, the U.s. and the transilvania one, good for travel in the entire European Union....in a few years we'll probably also need a Mexican passport.

Interesting how I’m the boy, but you are the one wanting the government to take care of all your owies for free. How the human race get through the past millennia without the pill pushers I just cannot figure.

You blew me away with the achievements of the Spaniards though. Amazing, number nine, huh? Do you think they will ever catch-up to the the People’s Republic of California?

You just keep listening to the fairy tales being spun by your family in Spain. Or better yet, if it’s so great over there, break out your EU passport and go for a nice long visit . . . stay awhile. Vamos!

All this whining from someone sitting in the best country the world has ever seen. You are so blessed and don’t even know it. Pathetic.

Be sure to blame America first.

The U.S. is the most powerful country on Earth??? We are in debt to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars to china....we have a president who is bascially illiterate......85% of Americans are overweight........we have an overwhelming number of illegal immigrants moooooooching off of us......

If we are soooooooooooo powerful ...would we have a national debt in the trillions....and a president who is sketchy on the english language at best?? When this president's term is over instead of building a presidential library(which would be hypocritical at best)......this president will come up with his own dictionary.....which will be backwards like everything else in his presidency......starting with the SSSes.....Strateeeeegeryyyyy.

I'm sorry how are we a superpower again? (Being a superpower at raising debt doesn't count.)
