Read carefully and note that I said students that are future law enforcement and future military should be able to carry. Not every irresponsible kid that gets dropped off at college.

I had spent the past hour writing a response to this article, then I realized he's just a silly man with a 200 year-old romantic view of humanity. If you get rid of all your sharp objects, your baby will never get cut. If you get rid of all alcohol, men will never beat their wives. Just silly.

This guy is just getting his name in the news to sell his new book!

The part about VT not being shot up by a Korean - correct. Shot up by a .9mm - wrong! A person killed those innocent people. He was a man, who happened to be of Korean descent.

Lay down our right to bear arms - nope. We should train gun safety and awareness in our schools instead of giving up our rights to protect ourselves.

You have about 30 seconds to announce yourself in my home or on my property, otherwise you will be met with a .45. FYI I am a good shot. I was taught about guns of all types since I was old enough to comprehend what they were and what they can do. I have a healthy fear of guns. Growing up, I always knew where the 357 was kept. It was just my Dad and me. If someone got him, I had instuctions to defend myself by any means necessary. That meant shooting someone if necessary. I was and am not afraid to protect myself.

If there were teachers, criminal justice students (future law enforcement), and people there on military scholarships (who will be weapons trained) carrying weapons there would have been dozens of people capable of stopping Cho.

Anyway, back to my point. Train everyone about firearm safety and awareness. With less fear and unknowing people, we will be safer. If responsible, trained staff and students had been carrying their own guns, someone could have taken Cho down long before he took so many.

Yeah, and the students could carry the weapons back to the dorm and threaten there also.
Also, I'm sure they would want to take them home to brag to their buddies there.
Dodge city comes to mind on campus, doesn't it?

that you are crazy as a loon! Arm a bunch of college students to protect themselves? In every college and university in the USA? Why don't we just do the JROTC in all high schools also?
Jr.High would also need at least several guns in the kids hands!
Church schools could mount machine guns on the roofs!

Let's also eliminate the 1st Amendment... It causes more trouble than the 2nd Amendment, so let's just do away with both of them.

After all, one isn't any more important than the other and together they cause all kinds of problems.... right ???

That's how stupid Plates' argument is.... what a maroon!

I don't know what a maroon is (some shade of red, I think) but I agree.
I don't follow though: Doesn't the 2nd amendment allow guns for everyone?

This Plate guy is way over the edge. But he did say Beverly Hills and that explains a lot.
Maybe he should write an article about what would have happened if he was carrying a gun at the time. Sissy like that would not know which end to point.

I sure know what I would have done and that story would end with a dead predator.
