THE WAR
Today President Bush said that if the congress voted to require our troops to leave Iraq by next year late, then whatever happened there would be the fault of the congress, not his.
Well, he has tried for about five years to put Iraq back into business after killing Saddam and sending the Sunni Army into hiding. He and his advisors (most of them) have been wrong on nearly every opportunity to be so.
How could the utter failure to do this job be the fault of congress? They gave him a Trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000), plus at least that much more to go to get the power, water, police, schools, hospitals, and to treat the 100,000 Iraqi wounded, started again. We won't talk here of the American casulties.
The government will never function as a central government without another vicious dictator, due to the hatred of the Shiis for the Sunnis, and the hatred for both by the Kurds and the swamp people of the south.
These people have never in 7,000 years known what democracy means. It isn't fair to the others if the Shiis always win the elections!
I don't understand why someone didn't advise Mr. Bush of this on his staff. They may have and he had his mind made up, but the staff didn't seem to resign either. Is a career more important anymore than our country? Even our Generals seem to think so, also. I know they don't want to go the route of the US Attorneys of late, but where are these kind of leaders coming from? And why?
