Cal, right after the Lowe's thing...

sick John, the pit bull, Munford on the Airport Authority.

There's a story there somewhere. Where else could a city entity lose $660,000 and no one hear about it.

We paid $1.7M for a tennis center we didn't want or need and that got all kinds of press coverage.

Give your "pit bull" a whiff of the sweaty "T" shirt story and let him loose.

John, just kidding.

The Tennis Center also lost a ton of money.
Both it and the airport are basically subsidized by hotel/motel taxes (paid by citizens, if not here, when we travel somewhere that they do the same thing).
These "authorities" are a racket. A way for politicians to develop pet projects for their contributors that couldn't make it commercially. Who wants to buy the tennis center and airport as a going business? Nobody.
Tennis players and pilots and corporate execs use the two (tennis, airport) we have.
I don't use any of it. Do you? They certainly haven't attracted any Industry! We have lost industry due to mismanagement.
In Germany, every little town has an opera house, subsidized by the taxpayers or state, just to provide jobs and "keep the heritage alive."
We do the same stuff here, but for show, and, special people.
I suggest we have an authority for a "Hooters," a "Bawdy House" or two, a "MacIntosh Casino," that will bring in the taxes for more civil servants!

I could live without that.

That's just scary. Smiling
