Citizen blogs near death

From the appearance of the comments and blogs for the last 2-3 weeks, death of this site is near.
Unfortunately, conservatives can not stand to read criticism and won't admit failure of this administration. Also, liberals, even though they took the whole congress back, are not providing comments worth reading in most cases.
The arguments here on this site about the state and local scene, are like a ball on a rubber band: they always bounce back to politics and polarization.
It is amazing, that in a city the size of PTC, and with a relatively well educated population, (they went to school anyway) that so few participate on a level above red-neck and hick threats:
Days of dog worry; invasion of minorities into Fayette County and lumping every single one of them into thug groups; practically desiring the destruction of all teens instead of what to do about it; and worst of all, the complete lack of respect for fellow neighbors even if some are different. Not talking about race, here.
I think what we have here is a "bed-room community" whose interests and loyalty are elsewhere. And....too many bars and liquor stores, and airplane passes!

There won't be anything left of Peachtree City or Fayetteville to even fuss over in a few years. Local politics have hit absolute rock bottom. Jack Smith is being viewed as the "do the right thing guy" and he hasn't done a darn thing yet. Harold Logsdon is a little higher than pond scum. Ken Steele and Mayor Lee in Tyrone are in hiding. The school board will end up in fist fights every year over redistricting because of the new developments.

This past election with Lynn Westmoreland was the first time I got off the Republican wagon (for his post). Newt Gingrich's remarks about not being a hypocrite going after Bill Clinton was he was pulling his pants down at the same time with another woman shows that morality means little in either party. The Democrats are by far the worst.

Vote Republican

I hope not, but one has to wonder about the long term viability of this wonderful community when so few vote or participate in various city meetings. The TDK illness is symptomatic of a deeper cancer. The mayor and 2 other council members are apparently ready to sell this place out, and all we get from the community is a few folks blogging and a few letters to the editor. In other towns the citizens would be getting out the tar and feathers.
