Brooks Little League registration Saturday

I know it's been cold and baseball isn't on your minds yet, but ...

If you haven't registered your little darlings for Little League yet, the Brooks Area Little League is having one more registration this Saturday (Feb. 10) at 10 a.m.

Pre-T ball for 3-4 years olds is offered here and nowhere else nearby (that I've heard anyway). It's a great introduction to the game; my son enjoyed it last year.

There's also action for ages up to 15-16.

Brooks offers a great family atmosphere with dedicated volunteers. They're about to close out registration, so come to the clubhouse at 10 (or shortly thereafter) to sign up. The attendance zone extends northward into and beyond Fayetteville; it's not limited only to Brooks residents.

New to Brooks this year, every person who sets foot on the field or in the dugout (parent, grandparent, coach, team mom or whomever) has to have a criminal background check. This is for the safety of all the kids, so be aware you will likely be asked to fill these forms out (no cost to you) particularly at the younger age level when more parents are needed to help out on the field during practice, games, etc.

To get to the baseball fields in Brooks, take 85 south down to the 85 Connector and head east. When you get into town, cross the RR tracks and take the very next left. Pass the post office and then the next left and that road leads back to the clubhouse.

If you want to pass on the joy of baseball to your child or children, we'd love to have you.

My son coaches rec sports in Fayette County. (Fayetteville) He was required to have a background check several years ago. I'm surprised that Brooks has just started doing this.

My son is very dedicated and spends most of his free time coaching. He really enjoys it.

It's great fun watching the little ones play. Good luck to your sons team! Smiling
