Please, Just Consider A Shelter CritterI have been looking into getting a dog for our family for about three years now. We decided on a few breeds that we liked, namely, the Great Dane, the Neopolitan Mastiff, and the Cane Corso. We started looking up breeders of all three, and found locals for all three. Then, I had an epiphany. What about all the shelter animals? Every single day millions of pets are put down, many in ways that are so cruel, it would make a man cry. Dogs placed in dark, cold metal boxes, on top of each other, crying out, and then they turn on the gas. The crying slowly fades, and then, just when you think its over, they bring in the puppies, and put the puppies on top of the older dogs they JUST killed, and the puppies cry, they don't understand. Then the lid is closed, and they cry to get out, then they turn on the gas, and the crying stops. Then, a trash pick-up truck comes and picks up the dark, metal box, and dumps it into the garbage truck, right along with all your trash from your own home, then they are taken to a landfill, and tossed away; and for what? Because of an irresponsible owner? Or maybe it was a responsible owner who just wanted to have "one litter" and that litter can't be sold or given away, and if they are, what if the people you sell or give them to don't alter their puppy? That creates even more of a problem. Now, I'm not a PETA freak, I'll tell you, I eat meat, and there's nothing like a good steak. But these are dogs, and cats, and they need us. If you alter your pets, then that stops the cycle of over population. Please, I am begging, if you want to get a new pet, please go to the shelter. Look up the numbers for Coweta County's animal control, or Fayette County's. The numbers are grim, and its so sad that people go to the mall and get a puppy, and don't realize what that puppy's mother is going through, or went through, not to mention what that puppy has been through. Puppy mills provide for pet stores, and puppy mills are too vile to even imagine. Do your own research. Contrary to popular belief, PETA is an organization looking out for pets and animals. Google "Puppy Mill" and see for yourself. I guess I'm just trying to get people to stop the breeders from taking away homes from other pets. For every dog or cat you purchase from a breeder, you've condemned a shelter animal to death. Think about it, please. They need us. If you can't adopt, VOLUNTEER! They need us.
