PTC: Disappearing With Great Speed

Spear Road Guy's picture

What happens when we let Direct PAC, Bob Lenox and a lying Mayor Logsdon have control of our city?

The four quotes below come out of a single edition of the newspaper. Didn't Logsdon and Steven Boone promise to keep the high quality standards of our community? What happened?

1. “The Senoia City Council voted unanimously Monday night to approve the first read of an annexation and rezoning for 157 acres on the busy state highway.”

2. “The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority has upheld its requirement to make the bridge for the TDK extension four lanes as part of the 3,000 home McIntosh Village community planned for east Coweta County.”

3. “One developer hopes to locate a Lowe’s Home Improvement and a Kohl’s Department Store on the south side of Ga. Highway 54 West between MacDuff Parkway and Planterra Way in Peachtree City. Yet another company is also proposing to build two regionally-sized ‘big box’ stores with as-yet unnamed tenants on the city’s south side across from the Wilshire Pavilion.”

4. “Mayor Harold Logsdon and Councilman Steve Boone voted against the motion to ask the [authority] terms to be shortened.”

Say whatever you want about our former mayor, but I can't imagine this happening under his control. Our current state of affairs is a pathetic heap of smoldering disaster.

The Direct PAC boys need to move to the state of Denial. They'll be a lot happier there.

Your 4 examples are bogus:
1.PTC does not approve or disapprove things in Senoia.
2.GRTA is not controlled by PTC, they do what they want - which is simply to recommend something or not. And they can't make us build a bridge or tell us to 4-lane it.
3. PTC has ordinances and zoning that regulate things like big boxes and it is much more restrictive than other places.
4. Term limits are good things. Shorter terms are even better. Not sure why those 2 would vote against that, but that doesn't mean PTC is disappearing.

This is a wonderful community and the current problems are minor - although you'd think the world was coming to an end by some of the mindless drivel you read here.

Come on Robert W. Morgan! Just because Senoia, Coweta County or GRTA are not controlled by PTC doesn't mean they can't have a negative affect on our community. I know you can think at a higher level than that. Have you been at the Y-Knot with the mayor? Think rhetorically on the “disappearing” part, gee whiz. Like the city we once knew will be changed for good.

Mayor Logsdon does nothing but help them with their quest to blow our doors off.

I would love to hear the speculation from others on two things:

1. Why did Council Member Boone vote in favor of the dense townhomes on the westside (the only one to do so)?

2. Why did the Mayor and Boone vote against four-year terms for the authority members?

Vote Republican? It's the one party power system that is allowing this to happen! Vote for ethical representatives who listen to and act upon your wishes for a county environment that we all moved here to support! Ignore the labels - and vote for the integrity of the person!

Actually Sandra, I wonder what Party affliations mean nowadays. I've been a conservative most of my life, which meant I aligned myself with the Republicans. However, as of late, I've found myself perturbed at what has become of it.

On local issues, I'm less able to parse the differences in the Parties.

PROPERTY USES and VALUES

The Republicans typically support property rights---ergo build and sell to the highest bidder for whatever use you can get for it. Captialism at its finest.
While the Democrats believe the Government can take away your property, give it to a developer to build high rises that produce more property taxes.

QUALITY OF LIFE
Well I need not go too far to compare the areas where Democrats thrive and where Republicans thrive.
Democrats are very comfortable in the big cities, so urban sprawl is okay with them. Like Atlanta and Clayton County. Crime is often rampant and single parent families is the norm.
Republicans live in areas where the schools are better and where the nuclear family resides. We have our crime, but much of it is coming from Clayton county residents. This produces communities such as Fayette and PTC.

Lets compare two very different Counties.
Clayton which is entirely Democratic.
Fayette which is almost entirely Republican.

(I won't comment on Coweta. I know they are growing like hot cakes, but I see less of the traffic and unplanned growth there. I might be mistaken. They are primarily Republican there as well.)

Which county at least attempts to control growth and the quality of life?

So maybe Party affliation doesn't matter at the local level, but then again, maybe there are some interesting observations that can be made when you do compare the two.

Without knowing anything more about an area of the Country, if I had to choose between two communities, one run exclusively by Republicans, and one by Democrats, well, it would not be too difficult to make that choice.

Are you saying Sandra, that you can not see the difference?

Submitted by Doug on Tue, 01/16/2007 - 5:22pm.

Mr. Hobbs, I'm not sure the Clayton vs. Fayette comparison is a fair one. Clayton was developed a long time ago with the growth of the airport. They were mostly white back then. I can remember when Clayton was cited as a progressive place developing to the best standards.

On the other side, Fayette has been a late bloomer. Clayton is practically built out and Fayette has a way to go.

Many of my neighbors are pretty worried about where Fayette County is heading now. Eagles Landing was once the prototype for doing it right, but it has dropped a lot lately. Is Fayette heading in the same direction?

Coweta is majority Republican and I don't think they given a hoot about quality of life.

Oh well.

Borntorun, you're thinking about the 5K Paranoia Fun Run to raise money for a cure for the Direct PAC disease of accussing every letter writer to the newspaper of being an undercover Steve Brown.

No, no everyone loves what Mayor Developer is doing. TDK is the road to our bright future and 3,000 houses on the westside is just fine. You must be right, LOL!

If you don't like what is happening, then run for mayor and shut things down, oh, wait you already did that. Not sure how the Mayor of PTC can shut Coweta down. Do you?
Or is this identity the one that doesn't live in PTC or the one that moved out?
You must have a chart to keep up with all your identities, Steve.

Mudcat's Direct PAC is getting it all on a silver platter. Most people are stunned things could go so bad so fast.

Mayor Logsdon will never back down on TDK because he owes you. He's going to let it pour in, big boxes and all, right down on our heads.

Chalk several up for the evil empire.

To the citizens of PTC please do not pay any attention to the comments of the "mudcat" and the "Robert W. Morgan" screen names. It is evident from their posts that they support Direct PAC (keep telling yourself mudcat that it is no longer active, but I do not believe it) and the developers in this county and city. We need elected officials who protect the average citizen whose largest investment is their home. We all have to get out and vote to remove these uneducated elected officials. Heaven help those who listen to the comments of these two. Please read between the lines and decipher the truth.

Your panties must really be in a wad or perhaps your hysterical call to ignore ideas and opinions that do not align with your own is based on some new rules you have crafted concerning freedom of speech.

Got some new rules? Please explain them.

Your obsession with Direct Pac and your conspiricy thoeries about developers and politicians is really tiresome. I have nothing to with Direct Pac, have never been a developer or builder and my very minor political career is a thing of the past.

You did have one part of one sentence that was mostly true and that is "We all have to get out and vote..." True enough and whether or not we vote for or against anyone, we should get out and attend meetings and learn the facts about issues. Last election was "Anybody but Brown" - and his 2 friends. That's certainly not a way to elect people, but that's what happened. Voters made a clear statement they were tired of his divisivness and elected 3 new and mostly unknown people to mayor and council.

Sure, the 3 newbies are struggling and the mayor especially seems overwhelmed, but they also seem to be trying, have given honest observers no sign they are beholding to any special interest and are open and honest about their intentions. In other words, no hidden agenda.

So, sandysue, I don't really thing censoring someone like me who actually pays attention to things is the way to go. I do attend meetings, I do read the material that is passed out and now that I am retired, I have time to talk to other people and do research.

On the issue of home values, do you have any idea how much homes have appreciated in this city over the last 20 years? No, well I do and your statement about "protecting the average citizen whose largest investment is their home" is pure crap at best and a scare tactic at worst. Homes in Peachtree City have appreciated at an annual average of 9.5% over the past 20 years - that's 190%. Mine (according to actual appraisals) has tripled in value in only 15 years. So, what is it we are supposed to be afraid of? New homes in Coweta County? A Target? A Lowe's? Reasonable people understand those things actually help value. Oh, I know! It is traffic you want us to fear - right? How does that influence value, well, let's look at North Fulton County - worst traffic anywhere and Alpharetta is the only area outside the perimeter that has a higher appreciation rate (over 20 years) than Peachtree City. Go figure.

Sandysue, your censorship idea does have some merit - let's not listen to stupid uninformed people who spout rhetoric completly devoid of facts.

Did Robert W. Morgan really say:

"Sure, the 3 newbies are struggling and the mayor especially seems overwhelmed, but they also seem to be trying, have given honest observers no sign they are beholding to any special interest and are open and honest about their intentions. In other words, no hidden agenda."

I thought it was Mayor Harold Logsdon who negotiated the sweetheart TDK land deal for his campaign contributor from Pathway. Come to think of it, Group VI seems to making out like a big pig in the slop hole too.

Be careful of the rhetoric completely devoid of facts.

The part that may have confused you is the phrase "to honest observers".

The allegation that Logsdon negotiated the TDK land deal for Pathways or Group VI or any other $200 campaign contibutor has been made up completely as part of the Big Lie strategy by the Brown apologists. A Big Lie is saying something over and over again without any proof whatsoever and then start refering to it as fact - as you have just done.

Jim Stinson has said it best when he responds to this kind of nonsense - show some proof. I know most of the people you accuse as being in this huge conspiricy with one another and believe me, none of them are smart enough or organized enough to plan and implement a conspiricy. And certainly keeping it secret is way beyond their capabilities.

Teen beaten, robbed 'because she was white'

11:22 PM PST on Friday, January 12, 2007

By DREW MIKKELSEN, kgw.com Staff
A 16-year-old girl’s ethnicity may have been the reason why she was beaten and robbed at a Portland Max train stop Thursday.

Detectives said the girl’s attackers targeted her because she was white.

Following the alleged attack Thursday afternoon, Portland police arrested four girls between the ages of 13 and 16.
They have been charged with assault, robbery and intimidation.

The suspects are all African-American.

Police said the girls attacked and robbed the 16-year-old victim at the Lloyd Center Max train stop around 4 p.m. Thursday.

“They set out to rob someone,” said Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Brian Schmautz, “And they told detectives they chose this victim because she was white.”

Police said the four girls first made contact with the victim at the Rose Quarter Max station.

Detectives are reviewing Max train surveillance camera tapes as well as tapes from the Max platforms between the Rose Quarter and Lloyd Center.

The 16-year-old suspect will be charged as an adult. The robbery charge is a Measure 11 crime.

"I don't think it was a race thing," said Delores Beasley, grandmother of one of the 13-year-old suspects.

Beasley told the juvenile court judge Friday afternoon she thought locking her granddaughter up in juvenile detention would be a good idea. "It's something serious," Beasley said, "But she doesn't realize how serious it is."
Portland Police want to speak with anyone who may know anything about the alleged assault.

Oh when will we listen and learn. By their own admission, according to this article, the victim was selected because of her race. Racism and violence will be the ruination of our 'democratic way of life'. We need to teach the lessons of MLK and Ghandi everyday of the year - not just the one week or day in commemoration of the 'dream' of those who understood the importance of 'love thy neighbor as thy self'.

Submitted by dollaradayandfound on Tue, 01/16/2007 - 12:47pm.

MLK had many side girl friends, he was weak. Ghandi allowed hundreds of thousands to die for the Hindu religion and to get rid of the British. Had nothing to do with "love thy neighbor."
What is a neighbor?

'love thy neighbor as thy self'.

Which one those two quoted the above? Why shoot so low with those two. How about we go up the ladder much further than MLK and Ghandi and perhaps the race thing could truly be purged from our lives. Keep throwing around mortal men who had it only half right and what we'll wind up with is race relations that are only half right.
