Recent experience with Enterprise-rent-a-car

On Friday December 8th, I rented a car for the weekend. I had made a reservation for 3:30, but left work late so didn't arrive there to pick up the car until 4:30, only to be told that I would have to wait for another car to return. After grocery shopping with my 2 kids (9 and 4)at 8:15PM, the rear left side door would not close. I called the 24hour road side assistance provided to customers by Enterprise, they were unwilling to help me! First, they suggested that I tie the door down and drive it to the dealer. After I refused and asked for a tow truck, they were unwilling to send someone because they are not aloud to tow a car with an open door. After an hour and a half, I called blueline taxi, since enterprise was unwilling to send someone. The taxi driver was VERY nice and fixed the problem for me, after I showed him exactly where the problem was.
So why is it safe to drive a car with a door tied down right beside a 4 year old, but it is not okay for that same car to be towed with a door tied down? And why does enterprise feel it is okay to leave customers stranded outside when it is -14 ? Should the customer service people down in the USA not know that they are also dealing with customers in Canada, and therefore also have information on tow truck companies in at least the major cities?

I just rented a car Ford Focus. The wheel pulls to the right it is wearing out the tires and the stearing wheel shakes. I did not get the vehicle that I resurved. I had to rent the car to go to New Mexico for a funeral My wifes Mother's funeral. When I got there I called Enterprise and told them the problem and said that I needed another vheicle to replace the one I have because I am very busy and do not have time to worry about being broke down. (By the way the tires were like new when I left Independence Kasas and were bald when I got to Hobbs New Mexico.) I was told that I can not get a replacement vehicle and I have to take the car to the shop and have it fixed. Can not get road side assistance I have to take it down. Do their job for them. The car scares me I have two grandchildren that will be riding back to Kansas with me and I am afraid that I will have more problems even after it is fixed. Everyone remember you rent from Enterprise and it breaks down you have to take time out of your scedual to fix their car. They do not care if you are satisfied or not they just want your money.

I have rented from Enterprise here and on business trips and have had good experiences. The only problem that I have ever had involved an insurance company that wouldn't pay the entire car rental after a wreck, but Enterprise absorbed the excess charges as a courtesy to me when I asked them. You had a bad experience, but your post gives me the feeling that the way you approach people could make a difference. A good company shouldn't be judged by this one complaint.

I had to rent a van from them several years ago only to find that it had severe growly front brakes. They told me they couldn't help me and that the van should be ok. Yeah....like I wanted my wife hauling our two babies in a van with no breaks. No big deal to them. I haven't used them since. Sorry about your bad experience and thank God for the cabbie with a heart.

I was thinking of reserving an Enterprise car for the holidays and drive up to Washington, D.C. Did you have this experience with our local PTC agency? What other options do we have here in PTC, other than going all the way to the airport to rent a reliable car?

I have used them here several times w/ no problems but I have never had to call for help. You have other options, there is a Hertz in Newnan near the Wal-mat & in Fayetteville, there is an Avis. Let your fingers do the walkin'. & Hey, Have a Nice Trip.
