Glorious Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce's Small Business awards luncheon was a huge success. In addition to the small business award winners, the Chamber was also recognized in several categories:

COWETA WINDFALL AWARD (for its support of TDK and creating businesses in the neighboring county)

$1 BILLION AWARD (the amount Coweta County looks to gain from the new businesses)

TAX INCREASE AWARD (our chamber holds the distinction of supporting every tax increase proposed in the county over the last several years)

HEAR/SEE/SPEAK NO EVIL AWARD (while thousands of people became ill from the PSC plant, the Chamber hid in a closet)

In order to have a conspiracy, you need several people who believe in the same thing, an organized effort to get something done and in the case of a deep political conspiracy - secrecy!

The Chamber of Commerce has none of those things. All this talk about the Chamber supporting TDK Blvd. comes out of Mike Hofrichter's opposition to Brown. Mike happened to be President of the Chamber at the time and Brown and his kool-aid drinkers have kept this alive for years.

For the record, the Chamber of Commerce is chartered to promote existing businesses and to encourage its members to do business with one another. Recruiting new business to the city and county is an economic development function. Sometimes an educated mayor or county commission chair will help with the growth issue. The Chamber supports all of this, but knows its place and does not wield the secret power the Brownies constantly beat their drum about.

Here's what I want to know....

Why are there a certain amount of people that believe there is such a grand conspiracy in the political and business landscape of Peachtree City and Fayette County? I think I speak for most folks who read this that these arguments of rampant corruption and conspiracies are just counterproductive smokescreens to belittle anyone who opposes the nonsensical opines of the last administration in PTC (the one soundly defeated in the last mayoral and council elections).

Pick another topic, folks....

No,Vote Repblican tag? Don't you think most of the Chamber votes as you? Have you finally realized that you are not in the 1% that controls 40% of the nation's wealth? Welcome to Senator-elect Jim Webb's Former Republican Club. (Westmoron excluded)
