What's wrong with Lakly's promises

On a postcard I received in the mail today, Lakly promises he’ll work to eliminate the automobile tag tax and the state income tax.

So, what will he replace that with? By doubling the state sales tax so that, together with the local 2% tax, we get charged 10% extra on check-out?

How about Coca-Cola and Home Depot? Will they stop paying state income tax too? What about Delta? Will it have to pay 10% sales tax on the airplanes it buys?

Invoking Sonny Perdue’s name, Dan says he’ll work to reduce the size of State Government. Will he do that by reducing the number of employees at the Driver’s License offices so we may have to wait hours and hours to get driver’s licenses? Will he cut down further on the State Patrol or the GBI so we may have more crime? Will he cut down on prison guards so we may have to release more dangerous criminals? Will he cut down on court personnel so we’ll encounter greater delays in getting justice?

What part of state government are you going to cut, Dan?

One problem with Dan is that he does not “think,” and he likes to appeal to other non-thinkers like him. He just mouths whatever he feels the public might swallow, and lets fly. How can he be a “common sense conservative,” when he has no real common sense?

That's my dad in an F-15. He got an incentive ride in NC, and it's a picture I just can't let go of. I'm a whole lot more pertier than him anyway.

BTW: Just so you know. All my ribbing is extremely good-natured.

Politicians that speak in slogans are Democrats - you know, members ofthe Democrat Party. It is not the Democratic Party - its Democrat, which of course rhymes with beauracat.

I thought Dan was a Republican, which means he supports the Republic and the idea of representative democracy, but maybe not.

Did you even read what you just typed, or did you fall asleep at your keyboard and randomly type the following?

"Politicians that speak in slogans are Democrats - you know, members ofthe Democrat Party. It is not the Democratic Party - its Democrat, which of course rhymes with beauracat."

First, the slogan part:

"We are a culture of life" Used for Schaivo but not too applicable to preemptive war or extensive application of the death penalty (especially in TX under a certain GOP governor)

"I'm a uniter not a divider" True or not true?

"You're either with us or against us."

"Bring 'em on"

"I'm a compassionate conservative"

"the cut and run party"

"the cut and jog party"

"their the tax and spend party"

"Fight 'em there or they'll follow us home."

"war against extremists"

"war against islamofascists."

"global war on terror."

Robert, all your party has left are slogans. There is not a single policy or program that will be passed in GWB's last months. And his own party has alot to do with that (reference the "amnesty" bill).

As for beauracracy, who, by chance, has presided over the largest federal government in recorded history? A democrat or a Republican? You can't just type what you wish were true and have it so. You must face the fact that you are confined to what we democrats like to refer to as reality. But feel free to type yourself a few years younger and a few pounds lighter. If it works for YOU, that's all that really matters.

Cheers,

They collect tax from the people that do business with them and pass it on to the State.

We are also paying for all their contributions to charity -- AND their sponsorships, i.e., Nike and Vick.

I think this is perhaps one of the stupidest blogs I've ever seen on the Citizen Online. I suppose that you also think that creating Hurricane Katrina and destroying New Orleans George Bush could become the leader of North Korea.

Dan Lakly is hardly the most agreeable sort but I have no doubt that his intentions are to cut prison staff and make us each wait in longer lines at the DMV. If fact these days if you stand in line at the DMV to renew your license you are a loser. I just renewed mine for 10 years. So perhaps a couple of those useless and rude people might actually be put onto the street where they belong.

Oops.... what I meant to say was: that his intentions are not to cut prison staff.....

Dan Lakly is an Honorable Representative, and I hope he runs against Lynn Westmoreland.

First, let's look at the tax suggestions. They are based in common sense. We have a revenue surplus. The easiest way to distribute that back to the people is a tax cut. The auto tax is a good place to cut. It is a somewhat regressive tax and it would benefit everyone.

Dan has always shown independence and courage. He has openly held Democrats and Republicans accountable. Few else can say that. As we discussed in other blog, we are looking for a new church. I hae considered Dan's church and he welcomed us in. From what I know of Dan and Donna Lakly that might be a good church to consider.

I hope you were just pulling your tail.

The last two times I've been to the DMV the folks there were great.

No line, out in under 2 min.

It took me longer to park than to transact my business with them.

You were just kidding right?

Wow...our experiences with them in my business have been a nightmare but that's a different subject. Anyways for your sake I should have used a different example. Smiling
