Abandoned Whitewater redheaded stepchildren's parents

Have you guys given any thought to getting a petition going to DEMAND the FCBOE tell you who and how many and the circumtances of each out of county child that is attending White water, or any of the schools here for that matter? There is power in numbers.

If they're paying for the privilege, then I don't care.

Their NOT using my tax dollars.

I get the distinct impression that you wouldn't be here if your kid had been allowed to transfer.

Didn't you say you were going to rent a home in the area so your kid could transfer?

Then you go off the deep end saying that people shouldn't be allowed to rent their homes.

Renters pay taxes too.

For your information, I own it, I'll do with it as I please, thank you!

It seems to me that both you and your son might need some professional help.

The rent that one pays on a property will have the taxes imbedded into their monthly payment. The property owner will have to pass that expense on in order to profit off of his property. The goods I sell in my business have the taxes I pay built into them. So logically the renter earned the money and the taxes are paid via his wages.

Did that make sense to ya? Smiling

I didn't realize the discussion was about who got to take the deduction. I thought it was whether renters paid taxes. Gosh...I think I'll step out from the middle of this domestic dispute.

Whew!

rag head

I'll type this slowly so that you might be able to grasp it.

There are a number of apartment renters here in PTC.

Do they pay taxes?

Are their kids entitled to go to school here?

There are also a number of homes that are rented.

Are those people allowed, legally, to send their kids to school here?

Remember, the only thing around here that don't pay taxes are businesses. The customer pays them.

Believe me, ask around, I'm really trying to be nice.

Business passes expenses like their taxes (as an input cost in their profit formulation to calculate output prices) along to the consumer? We certainly pay taxes..... I pay a buttload but I do figure that in on what I charge.

I deal with this crap daily. I wish more people understood it. Then there would be less pressure from those that want to penalize businesses and make them pay more.

Heck it's us...the consumers that pay. But the politicians can camouflage a tax hike on you and me by pretending to pass the burden off on a business.

Businesses don’t pay taxes? Now you’ve really stepped in it! My husband and I both own businesses in this community and I assure you we pay plenty! There are business property taxes that are paid each year. Then if you post a profit there are more taxes and in addition there are sales taxes if you are retail. Then you are employing people here and you are paying for the number of people you employ. Then you are paying employer taxes on their paychecks! Are you getting it yet? Maybe you should go on line and look up the Fayette County development Authority web site and look at there demographics for the area and you’ll find a chart there that gives the counties largest corporate tax base contributors. Then maybe you’ll note that Amili is actually listed there. Businesses carry this county in there tax contributions not the homeowners. Without businesses we would be paying much, much higher property taxes. Take that into consideration next time you go after the people who have worked so hard to bring businesses here.

Businesses don't pay taxes. They collect it from the purchaser as an imbedded cost which is built into the products or services you sell. If we (the business owners) didn't have to pass that tax burden onto our customers we would be able to lower the price of our goods and services in order to become more competitive.

Same as my bad debt expenses. Over a $100K this year. I am forced to keep my margins higher to offset that bad debt. Those monies will not come out of thin air but will be paid by my customers.

Taxes and bad debts are a burden to us all. That's why I call them Economic Terrorists.

No wonder we have "dumbed down" our population, and it is not all the school system's fault. People do not know what is going on with their taxes, they don't know how to compose a paragraph that makes sense, and they certainly can't spell-not even with a spell check available.
You say businesses do not pay taxes. They do every year on their assets just as people who own homes do. Some cheat of course.
You may never make a "renter" understand that the government does collect taxes on the rental property from the owner, just as they do on homes one owns themself. It is of course included in the rent.
As to deducting the taxes paid, the owner deducts the tax since he owns the property, not the renter, who owns nothing. If the owner couldn't deduct it, then the rent would increase to cover the lost deduction.
I don't think they teach this in high school, since they don't even teach sentence structure or spelling adequately; and how to balance a check book, etc. Many parents don't care or can't help either because they don't want to do so.

Why are you so bent on renters?

How they pay taxes is that they pay rent which, if done correctly, pays the mortgage+, which allows the owner to pay the property taxes.

If the owner isn't collecting enough rent to cover the expenses, then he/she doesn't know what their doing.

Apartment renters pay taxes too. I assume that you don't want any of them here either.

That's like complaining about all those people that bought houses closer to the school than you did so their kid could go to a certain school.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out for your and your son as far as getting into another school, I really am.

Perhaps you can get a petition going. Maybe then the BoE will listen.

I just can't accept your hatred of people that chose to rent out their homes or those that rent them. That just doesn't make sense to me.

As far as what school anyones kid goes to, it's going to be a "Fayette County" school. There has never been any kind of guarantee that a child would attend a particular school. Making it a good one is the parents responsibility.

Just so you know, my child changed schools three times in three years, so I know what it's like.

I think what 'they' are trying to say is that the guy who owns the house/building (the landlord) pays taxes but considers that tax amount whenever he decides how much 'rent' to charge the renter; therefore, the 'renter' is paying taxes by 'proxy'.
