Seabuagh's letter was the last straw

Mitch Seabaugh's letter to the editor hacked me off this morning. I grew up in Senoia and many in Coweta know that Seabaugh is tied to the local developers.

The Dishonorable Senator Seabaugh forgot to write about some of the points that Steve Brown mentioned in his letter (The Citizen Online) last week. First, Seabaugh lied and said the TDK road was for the purpose of relieving traffic. Second, Seabaugh and Rep. Westmoreland were actively taking campaign contributions from the developers who owned land around TDK. Third, Steve Brown consistently said the road was going to cause traffic and Seabaugh always contradicted him. Fourth, Seabaugh receiving contributions from the TDK developers and later forwarding big dollars from his campaign fund to Harold Logsdonā€™s fund looks shady as heck.

We sat on our hands and let a bunch of local idiots like Seabaugh take over and ruin our valued lifestyle. Don't you love how Seabaugh says he is not required to tell anyone he works for a Coweta homebuilder.

Last year, there was a bill that Mr Seabaugh co-sponsored giving power to local governments to enact "eminient domain" to developers "in private". In other words, without the public knowing who, or why it was done.
This bill was questioned extensively via radio talk shows and newspapers and was eventually withdrawn. But Mr. Seabaugh supported his co-sponsorship of the bill with vigor in emails and interviews.
Then this past year, he was tauting his support of the bill to limit "eminient domain" for developers.
I'm wondering just where Mr. Seabaugh's position really is?
Personally, I sure don't trust him to represent me..... I don't write big enough checks.

Mitch lied? If the people don't like it, they will vote him out.

Taking campaign contributions from hard working Americans is not against the law. It's perfectly legal for Mitch to take money out of his campaign fund and give to Mayor Logsdon's fund.

Keep in mind that most politicians who get voted out never did anything illegal (at least, nothing that anyone could prove in a court of law). But that doesn't mean they weren't deserving of an involuntary career change.

I'm just filling up my campaign finance jar. When the time comes, I will have amassed a nice gift of financial support for his challenger. Party affiliation not important. Shills for the developer community need not apply.

That ain't gonna happen. Yes transferring contributions is perfectly legal unless you give them to a Democratic fool like ------ (can't say the name because of the new rules) but it rhymes with -------. I think I'm safe here, but if not, it was nice to know you.

Be sure to draw a sharp distinction between what is illegal and what is wrong. It is not illegal to take money. It is wrong to let in influence your decisions. Mitch Seabaugh started out as a relatively mild mannered, unassuming, well intentioned bean counter.

After a few years in Atlanta he has become a slick talking, favor granting politician in the Mark Taylor mold. It is a shame.
