If you haven't had the pleasure of writing something here and then being logged-out unknowingly before submitting, you're fortunate. This blog script will log you out and when you hit *submit,* you get a blank page and no way to retrieve your brilliant musings. Blah.

I meant a real forum script.

I know Blogs are a rage and great for a personal site. But I do know that for any serious numbers of posters and so on they are, shall we say, confusing and not very productive.

Not to mention a pain to admin.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Since I use and am famailiar with phpBB let me just show a couple of scripts that illustrate my point of organization and so on.

Smilies, bold, quote, italicize, color. working URL links and a bunch of other functions are simply highlight and click. Or just post.

Just click Forum(s) on either one and picture that as one Index page showing:
Letters to the Editor

....Opinions

............Topics
................Posts
Those in turn link to the CMS on the main page.

Key is you can actually FIND things and post in a sane manner.

I know. Talking to the wind. Blogs are in, forums are boring.

I applaud the addtion of liberal user input. Really. Great they did it.

But it can be done a lot easier. And phpBB and the potals are free. GPL License.
